Palm Pre launching no earlier than May 16 according to leaked doc?

Holy crap the Palm Pre information is leaking out of Sprint and other dark corners of the planet at an alarming rate. Now, release the darned phone Sprint, cmon!
I just hope they'll have enough supply to meet the demand...
That is why they're going to wait 1 - 2 weeks from the 16th to actually start selling it.
I talked to some people at Radioshack, and they said they were getting 2 new Palms at the end of April.
I work for a radioshack and my sprint rep told me that the pre-orders for the palm pre outnumber the pre-orders for the instinct 10 to 1.

It only has to be 20 months to get 150 off and 10 months for 75 off.
I'm already at that point so I'm just waiting now.
Its 22 months and 12, not 20 and 10.
As a sprint premiere customer (don't know how I became one) I was able to get the full discount on a Touch Pro after 12 months, with a new 2 year contract of course.
No! Launch it as late as possible. Not only do I still love my Instinct and wish not to part, but my contract upgrade isn't available until July. Don't do this to me!
You could wait until July and give people like me a chance to beta test it for you. :-P
Just do what I am doing with my Touch Pro: sell it on ebay or craigs. I love my TP but I like a lot of the new features of the Pre and plan to upgrade. This way I can make a few bucks off a practically new TP to help fund the Pre purchase.
Alternately you realize you don't need to be an early adopter, right? Sometimes it pays to let other people deal with the new-device headaches while you weigh your options. I'm looking forward to the release but you can bet I will be reading the forums for a week or two before I buy anything.
Me too! As much as I love my Instinct I'm really excited for the Palm, but I'm not due for an upgrade until August!
May? Why they have to do this only a short time before the new iPhone is announced? By that time, I feel that there will be more rumors about new iPhones than real news about the Pre on sites/bloggers.
Speaking about rumors, I wonder what is the meaning of the "4/19 Rumor 2" line...

Hopefully they incorporate the same program they did with the Instinct, and allow the Sprint Premeire customers to have first crack at it on the Friday before the hard launch.
I believe they plan to, the Instinct was actually released to preferred customers the Thursday before the following launch day on Sunday. I also remember those who received an email informing them of an early release could bring the email into a Sprint retail store on Thursday and get the Instinct early. My guess is, the Thursday before May 17th is the day Preferred customers can pickup the Pre.
Ok...my last comment seems to have disappeared. If you notice that there are two dates - a delivery date and a scheduled date... both of which are identical for the two handsets with a 'scheduled' date - which leads me to think that the launch date WILL be the 16th. However, this is a Saturday, not a Sunday... which is when they are usually launched by Sprint.
i read something somewhere that said they have scheduled 2 launch dates for the Pre. they will get an initial shipment and if that isn't deemed enough, then they will launch it on the 2nd date. it could be coming in on saturday so they can count them and see if they should release it on sunday. they can order as many as they want but that doesn't necessarily mean they will have that many manufactured by then.
either way, i want it now!

This thing should have been release 2 months ago, May 16 is too late i think cause if there's a issue, the Media is gonna say all cool things about the iPhone 3.0 and then bash on the Pre as a buggy device. If the had release it 2 months ago by June all the bugs and issues would have been address, but a May 16 launch leaves little room for errors i think.
