Alright, so maybe the
rumors weren't
that far off, but the Big N just did us a solid by establishing US availability of its
MotionPlus Wiimote accessory a few weeks ahead of when
we were expecting. Granted, it's downright baffling that these things still aren't out on the market, but we're fully anticipating perfection from something that has been in the Crock-Pot® for
so long. Shortly after E3 2009 concludes (June 8th, to be precise), Nintendo will ship its MotionPlus add-on stateside. The device itself will run you $19.99, though you could wait until July 26th to pick up the totally attractive
Wii Sports Resort for $49.99, which naturally comes bundled with one of the accessories.
All those accesories you have mentioned have spanned quite a few generations worth of systems. Now were getting a deluge of sh!t acessories. Hell the Virtual Console pad should of been implemented in the Wiimote from the get go. I remember IGN had a nice prototype design where the Wiimote bar broke off from a traditional dual handle and 4 face buttons control pad. Oh well, I ain't buying this sh!t, and I suggest you all also boycott it to send Nintendo a message.
OOOOOOVERRRRRRRpriced. I worry this will deter 3rd party devs as a lot of people aren't going to buy them at this price. I'm sure a lot of people will pick up Wii Sports Resort but for many gamers and families, there are up to three remotes left that need a WMP add-on. I don't see people spending up to $80 to make sure everyone can play a game the way the devs intended.
I have to agree. Developers tend to be reluctant to develop for something the consumer isn't reasonably guaranteed to have.
North Americans nearly have as many Wii Fits (a $90 game with peripheral) than have Playstation 3s. I don't think developers have to worry about market penetration.
I really hope someone makes a Wiimote-USB adapter so we can connect this to other things.
Or how about a Wiimote - OBD II adapter and controller? :P
There are Wii Remote bluetooth drivers that are availble for the PC already. There doesn't really need to be a Wii Remote-to-USB device.
Wii controllers interface with the console using Bluetooth. It's possible to connect a Wiimote to a computer with a Bluetooth adapter.
I can't wait for WiiRepair Cars!
I guess it if makes the controls THAT MUCH BETTER maybe developers will jump on board.
I'll admit I'll be first in line if they can make a Star Wars lightsaber game with the controls we all dreamed of when we first heard of the Wii years ago.
MORE acce$$$$ories? why do we have to pay for something that nintendo didnt right since the begining? we want real games, we dont want sports these and sports that, these are, more of the same, with those horrible big heads graphics like kinder draws, we are loosing nintendo
What a bunch of whiners!! Nobody MAKES you buy this accessory. You think it is too expensive? Should be given to you for free? Then don't buy the damn thing. Enjoy your controller the way it is today.
I am no fan boy by any stretch of imagination, but Nintendo revolutionized the gaming by introducing the concept of using motion to control games rather then sitting on your fat ass, pressing buttons, and contributing to obesity statistics. Now Nintendo wants to improve the technology and you are complaining that you have to pay for it? Let me guess, when a new faster processor comes out, do you also bitch and moan that it SHOULD'VE been already included in your 2 years-old rig? Or maybe you bitch that it should cost 4.99 or less?
Very bad comparison regarding processors and functionality that was promised from day one. This dongle is supposed to enhance the motions that Nintendo told us were there before we bought the damn system (and no there were no Wii kiosks to play the system when I bought the damn Wii) . And I wouldn't call flinging your wrist in a game a work out. But hey I do agree with you, I won't buy the damn thing and continue to enjoy Smash Bros with my 7 year Game Cube controller which works better than that Wii piece of sh!t controller (sorry for the run on sentance).
@djmanoloco:
Well, I am not sure what Nintendo promissed you personally, but the original remote works just fine. If it didn't meet your expectations - why didn't you return it in the first place? You kept it - you liked it. Enough said. Always vote with your wallet if you really mean it. If not, it's just bitching.
@ Yefin
The Wiimote is a piece of junk. Have you played Mario Kart Wii and Smash Bros with this thing? It's an insult. I keep going back to the Wavebird when the option is available because the Wiimote just doesn't cut it. I'm not sure why you are defending Nintendo for making the consumer buy yet another add on that will add to the pile. True I have the option to buy this thing, but sooner or later there will be some AAA software that will require this add on to play the game. $20.00 is not a fair price to ask the consumer (especially when people own multiple controllers) to fork over because of oversight on Nintendo's behalf. Yes I kept the Wii to play Smash Bros with my Wavebird controller, not because of the lame ass Wiimote. And Nintendo did not promise me anything personally, why would you make such comment?
@djmanoloco
The Wiimote is lame because it isn't the best for every game? How about something like Zack and Wiki? Or RE: OC?
Yes, Nintendo has actually managed to develop controller DLC - Genius! They sell their controller in pieces with each individual piece being cheaper than their competitors controller, but as a whole it is more expensive. I wonder if I break my Wiimote into pieces will I be able to sell it on eBay at a higher price.
this is ridiculous why should i have to pay 20 bucks for something that shouldve been in the wiimote in first place! hey nintendo, since you have a accessory obsession, why dont you make something actcally useful...like offical battery packs for your wiimote! i dont trust the third party company ones instead of this add on or the 90 dollar aerobic step board! (thats what the balance board is basically)
really? and they want us to buy this thing without any game? its not like i can weigh myself with this thing
Hell, half of the accessories are just pieces of plastic that attach to the wiimote or nunchuck, like the racing wheel. How stupid are we, lol.
its just more worthless shit for nintendo to sit back and count thier money just like sony and everybody else but i might buy it and try it and if i like it i will keep it if not i will return it to wal mart or wherever but i wont be one of theese poor bastards sleeping outside the stores to be the first jerk off to have it the only reason i say i will buy and try is because i already have a wii and several games and instead of letting it sit there and collect dust im gonna get my moneys worth
