Speak n' Spellbinder makes your ABCs a little bit creepier

Mysterious music man A.J. Gannon's put together this wild Rock Band guitar / Speak n' Spell hybrid for use on his upcoming album. Calling it the Speak n' Spellbinder, the letters are individually mapped to the buttons on the neck of the axe and it boasts tons of really insane effects. The result is something a little grating, if totally, randomly awesome. Just further debunks that myth about video games making you lazy, doesn't it? Check out the video demonstration after the break, and be sure to hit the read link for many, many more insane instruments made by Gannon.

Thats just really creepy. Reminds me of E.T.!
I just wonder what Gannon's up to.
Probably stealing princesses and stuff.
I'm after the break, what video?
Video is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mi9NzTxlcMk
Thanks, I read the comment about Video after the break and thought I was slow in the head or something.
That's not a Rock Band Guitar. It's made from a hacked up GHII Xplorer.
Yep. We were doing this in the 80s, the hard way.
It's cute that circuit bent instruments are becoming cool yet again. Back in the day, this was par for the course with any analog synth (like my old Mini Moog) or those old department store Casio cheap-o keyboards that sounded like crap until you messed with them.
Anyway, it's neat that he did this, but Keith Emerson did it first, I'm sure. With vacuum tubes and lots of wires.
... uphill both ways
Seriously... My brother showed me years ago. Scouring the earth for a used casio sk1.
surely Speak n' Spellcaster would be a better name! :)
Play with me I wanna spell right now!
Dane Cook is a silly bitch haha
God bless you Speak and Spell modders!
Your need to tinker with those things have made me lots of money selling them to you!
I still have working Speak&Spell and Speak&Read with their power bricks!
i used to love speak n' spell when i was about seven and eight. this thing would have given me nightmares. wicked sweet.
Is THAT what Gannon is gonna use against Link? He's gonna teach him how to spell??
Yeah! I AM BACK BABY!
I program my home computer.
Beam myself into the future.
Kraftwerk, 1981.
Although not a speak and spell, the speech chip they used is the same, from TI.
You have a time machine?! We should meet up to play some pranks on Amish people from the 1800s!
Or we can steal all the sombreros from Cinco De Mayo! Wait, nevermind. I don't want the Frenchies to win... Or whoever the heck the Spaniards fought against.
i want one of these...
Very very cool.
I've circuit bent a tiny 50 cent toy guitar (also with lights) but nothing THIS major.
I could only HOPE to find a SpeakNSpell someday to bend.
The title of this one should have been "Speak n' Spellbinder makes your ABCs a little bit creepier, doesn't phone home"
Dear Engadget,
You owe me 4 minutes and 19 seconds of my life that I will never get back.
Love, Dan
PS -- the Voltron head was kinda cool
