The Beatles: Rock Band limited edition bundle priced, detailed
Finally, a few whispers straight from the horse's mouth. While we've heard rumor after rumor regarding the actual hardware to be bundled in with the sure-to-be-hot The Beatles: Rock Band, MTV Games, Harmonix and EA have come forward today with a few succulent tidbits to keep you interested until the 09.09.09 launch. We're told that the Limited Edition Premium Bundle will include the game itself, a Höfner Bass (which will undoubtedly do Sir Paul McCartney and southpaws the world over no favors by being right handed), a microphone, a microphone stand, undisclosed "additional special content" and the real kicker -- a Beatles-inspired and Ludwig-branded Rock Band 2 drums, complete with a classic pearl finish and vintage replica Beatles kick drum head.
The whole kit is slated to launch worldwide this September, with USers having to pay $249, Europeans paying €199 and Britons paying £179. Finally, we're told that North American and European fans who pre-order any version of the game will be eligible to join the The Beatles: Rock Band Pre-Order Club and "receive breaking news and access to exclusive game elements including art and behind-the-scenes footage directly from MTV Games and Harmonix." Oh, goody!

Wicked cool
As much as I want to like this I think the price is too high for what you get and kids that play rock band probably don't care or already have a set. I'm curious how well it does against Metallica or if will go over like a Led Zeppelin.
The LE also comes with 4 hits of acid. =D
I personally love the beatles but I'm a Guitar Hero fan. Never liked rock band. And as much as I like the beatles i don't think i could justify buying Rock Band equipment for one beatles game. If my guitar hero controller would work on it tho, im all in!
Wicked expensive!
All GH and RB controllers are compatible with each other, at least any current instruments at the time of the game's release.
So yeah, you can just buy the disc.
Tight..
Fab.
Gear.
as much as i enjoy these games, I'd rather them just release download packs of new songs at reasonable prices then all these bundles and new hardware/new games. it's getting redundant.
I agree...... But they have to keep this fad going as long as they can........ Soon you will see a Sammy Hagar version complete with bad hair and annoying vocals...... Maybe that will be a mic-less set.....
Or the Milli Vanilli version....start the game, queue music from xbox hard drive and reap the acheivements!
hmm.. don't know if want. its a bit much. plus...i already have rock band 1 and 2...but then again...its rock band! o, decision...
I'm still waiting to see what the actual drumkit looks like before I can give it my thought on wanting it. I already have a a rb2 kit with 3 cymbals, so only thing that might make it worth it would be better/different placement of the drum pads to make it more like a normal drumkit. Though if it's supposed to be like ringo's, it could be missing the 2nd tom…
They need to make a special Keith Moon set that just has way too many pieces......
Can I just buy the game?
I already own the entire Rock Band kit and I'd prefer not to pay $250 ( a huge mark-up btw) for the whole thing again. Just give me a $60 game and I'll be on my way. :)
Yes you can buy Rock Band 2 and use your RB 1 instruments with it :)
I'll bet this becomes more popular than Jesus.
**world riots*
BOYCOTT!
BOYCOTT!
How much you wanna bet about three people reading this "get" your comment. I laughed out loud!
How long until you figure out that the Beatles don't relay rock on this game. I rater spend my hard earned money on something more fun. The last rock band game I had went up on eBay after a couple of weeks.
Wow, way to go. All of the millions and millions of Beatles fans, all of the countless bands they've inspired and the immeasurable impact they had on popular music, and yet no one realized they didn't "relay rock" until sk's post.
It's fine if you aren't a Beatles fan, but to imply that their fans are delusional - especially fans of such an influential, critically-acclaimed band - is outrageous. Do you think before you type, or do you just post whatever on Engadget while the Evanescence forums are down?
I love "relay rock" is it anything like "arena rock"
@pagancollective, I didn't apply that to anything the Beatles did. The game sucks and not the Beatles.
@Rich, and you are perfect?
Not to get into a flame war I never liked the Beatles, and personally though I don't own an Evanescence album I would prefer to listen to them over the Beatles any day. But just remember just because the mass of people like them, some people don't care for them (the Beatles), though I like bands that were inspired by them.
Sir Paul isn't actually left handed. He just played they way be he thought it looked cooler...
the old "paul" was....
Watch out fastharry. THEY could still take you away :)
YES 2 times in one day i get to write Beatles suck ! : )
Tell that to any band today (popular or not) and they'll beat you to death with their instruments. Hell, tell that to me when I'm holding my bass and I'll beat you to death with it.
Nice to see the Fab Four coming back again. I always knew it would happen someday. 'Course, compared to TRUE artists like SnoopDog, FiftyCents, and Eminem... they don't hold a candle! YEAH RIGHT!!!!! HEHEHEHEHEHE.
I agree.....who wants to listen to singers that can actually harmonize...
@Jon
One time a day is all I need to know YOU suck...
:P
I guess they don't need shadows
Fifteenth!
I hope the kit comes with a suit and a spaced-out looking smile mouthpiece to wear. The good news is, they can easily just re-skin this and instantly have dozens of other boring band editions. I'm looking in Weezer's direction here.
Make a GWAR edition, Rock Band, and then we'll talk...
What this guy said. Id pay 349 for a set of gwar costumes and instruments. Get on it harmonix.
I don't want the speakers, I want the Optimus Maximus
man its the beatles. this wil change your life. just ask sgt peper!!
when will it END?
Curses! Why can't harmonix do the wii version? If it is still being done by a different dev group then I'll still be avoiding this game.
"Gaze upon these immortal Rock Gods, young whippersnappers"...
Word.
I'll wait for Rock Band: Led Zeppelin, but I would have gotten Rock Band: The Police, but only if it had a Stewart Copeland branded gong.
Track list?
I may actually get sucked in and buy this one, specially if the double microphone rumor is true. I'd love to sing harmony with someone.
Bah, never been a fan of Rock Band.
I am however a HUGE fan of The Beatles. What the hell do I do?
Save yourself some money and listen to The White Album?
I've almost been suckered into purchasing RB/GH games because of the tracklist. Then I thought, "Oh yeah. I own that album."
live > vinyl ≥ CD > Rock Band remix ≥ mp3 > karaoke
Ok, where's preorder?
$250? Not in this lifetime.
"FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU..."
Very Nice
As much as the instruments are awesome, the kit is so gonna be out of my budget. I hope those pre-order incentives (from anywhere other than gamestop of course) apply to the standalone game as well, because I will be getting that day one.
I am the 5th Beatle
Do Harmonix not work on the Wii version, Or is the logo not placed with the rest on the box?
Nope, Harmonix didn't and still doesn't work on the wii games. I hoped that it would have changed for this version...Still seems strange to me that a game based around multiple people on one tv that is very social and open to all ages would have the original developers working on it for the wii....
Here is a page with more info about the developer:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pi_Studios
not exactly the best kind of developers for music games...
LOL no.
wow just when you think the Beatles couldn't sell out any more .
It's not like they've ever been anything other than uber-commercial. They sold the publishing rights to their own music just to avoid paying taxes, for cripes sake. (Rights that were eventually acquired by everyone's favorite chimo.) But, their music is still radically catchy, relevant, and influential, so they obviously prove the exception to the rule that art and commerce are mutually exclusive. Now... what time is American Idol on tonight?
Number 8 *buuuuurp*
Number 8 *buuuuurp*
Number 8 *buuuuurp*
Does it come with a yellow submarine?
So is this technically Rock Band 3?
it should be called pop band.
was only a matter of time...
what, no guitar?
$250! Who the hell is going to buy this?
Me..
I would agree with you, and in the case of the 15 different Guitar Hero SKU you're certainly right. However, I think that in the case Rock Band: The Beatles a bundle makes sense for all parties involved (including the customers).
It will pain aging hipsters to know this fact: most Rock Band owners and people under the age of 50 don't care about the Beatles at all. If the entire setlist were released as DLC, nobody would care. Sure, Helter Skelter and While My Guitar Gently Weeps would probably sell alright, but not much else.
So, the real target for this bundle will be the over 40 crowd. They don't currently own Rock Band instruments, don't understand the concept of DLC, and so the bundle will be perfect for them. Harmonix, Yoko, and Paul will gladly charge a premium price for what they consider a premium product, and the bundle allows them to do that.
Wow. Wrong.
I'm 24, and I know literally one person my age who DOESN'T like the Beatles. And he's generally excluded from group discussions for that fact.
I love playing Rock Band, I am a massive Beatles fan, and yes, this kit is totally worth it to me. If it was offered as a track pack, I'd own it, but the inclusion of special edition instruments... Although they in no way affect gameplay, the special edition instruments appeal to me for reasons I can't explain.
And, for the record, I do actually know how to play guitar. But I play Rock Band to learn drums.
I knew 40 years of allegiance to the Beatles over the Stones would finally pay off......
Gaming has pretty much become the process of greedy companies cashing in on lucrative franchises.
Do you people actually buy this trash? It has zero art value, no character development, no story...and the best part is, it costs as much as a new console.
What happened? Did I miss something? Does everyone have to have absolute shit taste in everything?
what do people do with all the other fucking set ups they bought in the past, christ, your whole house would become a stage with drums not even being used, waste of money actually, but i cant play so maybe thats why
you know, why not just spend the money on a real guitar, bass, and/or drumset and be your own freakin Beatles cover band. Put your own musical voice/ideas into the Beatle's tunes. make something creative. actually use your brain to figure out real/colorful chords/rhythms.
Perhaps because you can't buy a drumkit and bass and guitar for $250? Let alone the fact that most people don't have the time to invest in learning how to actually play those instuments.
