The collaboration between LEGO and Digital Blue has already produced a couple of
interesting gadgets for the wee ones, so here's another one to add to the stack. The
LEGO Boombox is a decidedly low-techish CD player / AM/FM radio, with two 1 watt speakers, and a few buttons to boot. The saving grace of this little guy is obviously its shape -- which is awesome -- but we really need to know if its going to come in other colors (like hot pink) before we can think about buying it. This bad boy is going to be available sometime this summer, and it'll run $39.99
No clock function? In my eyes that makes it worth about half as much as they're asking-- maybe. Add in a clock and I'd think about it for my kid's room. The line-in jack (not mentioned in the above post, but on the read link) helps a bit.
This thing would only be worth buying if it came with additional blocks that stacked together with speakers in them. Instead of a volume knob, you would just add bricks.
That's Sweet. I loved playing with my Lego set as a kid. I'm definitely gonna buy 1 just because.
That thing is stacked
and that's a fact
ain't holdin' nothin' back
owwwww...
hold the phone....
I'd buy it just for the case. Gut it, put what you want in it. WiFi radio anyone? Totally rad HTPC? Beowulf cluster/footstool (with several of these things, of course)? Oooh, put a PS3 in it.
Just one real question: Can we get it to play Doom? LEGO Doom??
It's just a cd player in a Lego case...
Shhh!
Would have been cool if the Lego MP3 player could have snapped on to it.

Would be cool if it supported HD radio. Might as well make HD radios from here on out even though it isn't too popular.
What? No iPod Dock??
How about this:
1 Buy actual legos and a cd player/speakers
2 Build something out of legos with the sound system inside
3 Have fun, have music, profit
They could have at least put the CD drive on the front or something so that future product can stack on it.
i've always wanted a huge lego block mp3 player.....take that shit to the beach, yo. Get it bumpin' and grindin' LEGO styleeee.
You mean a LEGO-themed Boombox.
Well, it's got an aux-in. That's something.
Would have been perfect if it could serve as a clock radio that could play MP3s stored on a CD-RW. As is, WAY too expensive.
