Leyio's UWB-touting personal sharing device unboxed, handled on video
We first caught a glimpse of Leyio's Ultra-wideband-pushing personal sharing device back in January, and while UWB is still teetering near mostly dead and slightly alive, Le Journal du Geek has acquired a pair for some fun unboxing action and video hands-on accompanied by lovely French narrative. The reviewer predicts most people will be discouraged by the 179 euro (US $233) price tag, and with wireless filesharing here limited pretty much to just other Leyios at the moment, we can't say we disagree. Check out the video for yourself after the break -- if you're not a native French speaker or your babel fish is on the fritz, you should still be able to figure out what's going on.

I like the concept, but they are trying to do the same thing the zune tried to do and it didn't work so well. Maybe if they added a limewire app they might have been able to pull it off
what the hell?
i have never heard of this.
Looks squishy.
I get one of this too, if you want to check my review (pics + video): http://www.nowhereelse.fr/psd-leyio-18655/
Potential use: musicians distributing their music at shows. Trade an mp3 album for tips. It's got a usb port and can dump media onto anything that'll do usb mass storage no pc required. Which means any thumb drive, hd or no name driverless mp3 player can be filled. Elephant in the room of course is the (assumed) missing ipod support.
The uwb seems like a gimmick honestly, make an iphone dock connector or support some uwb standard (certified WUSB?) and it'd be a different ballgame.
It's an interesting idea which ,tech wise, has potential. but 223 USD is rediculous, especially for what you are getting.
Also, nice Princess Bride reference.
I think, the technology UWB in this product is great, but i don't really like the idea to have a product especally for that, while Smartphone can do the same things in the futur.
I prefer, the all in one technology...
Do none of these companies that are "inspired" by iPhone's design realise just why the home button has a circular square on it? its not a random shape - its because when you press it, it takes you to a home screen with icons in that shape.. so why does this home button have a strange random shape on it when they have circular icons on the homescreen? If you're going to copy a style, at least understand the reasoning behind it!!
Pretty interesting.
