Switched gets a redesign!
We know that a lot of you hardcore gadget nerds can't get enough of what Engadget is laying down (and we love that) -- but we've got other sites in the tech network here that contribute their own special blend of insight when it comes to gadgets and geek culture. One of the finest examples would be our main bros over at Switched. We just wanted to turn your attention to their web locale for a moment to make you aware of the totally rad redesign they've just undergone. Not unlike our compatriots over at Joystiq, the Switched folks have just gotten a much-needed fresh coat of paint (and some undercarriage work). Be sure and take some time to check out their new duds -- you won't be sorry.

I love it when they call me Big Poppa!
I love how the Ad takes up 1/3 of the page and is bigger than any of the headlining articles.
@Jon
To be fair, just $9.95 for the first 3 months of Vonage is a pretty sweet deal :P

Looks a lot like the same source code as CRACKED humour except less red.
I put them right next to You Engadget on my bookmarks bar. That's no small thing either.
Yay, another blog to get addicted to a nd read during class...
I think were all addicted to engadget imobile, HD, and switched.
If you paid attention maybe your spelling would improve.
this is a Vonage site?
why does switched exist again?
it just reposts articles from the other blogs in the family. it's like a central repository for the redundant
Switched is basically their tech site for the non-geek.
A better question is why does TUAW exist :p.
Why do you exist again? Switched is cool. I never read it because engadget is more my thing, but I like the mixture of articles. Maybe you haven't noticed, but all of the weblogs inc sites share articles, depending on which ones fit the style of which sites.

THANK you, Viakenny; honestly, I had no idea what Switched is - I went there and looked around and there was nothing to tell me why it was different from Engadget.
Then again, there's no "about" page for Engadget, either.
When is Engadget's big design overhaul?
Actually, they did not long ago... they just widened the website... and that was it...
I bet Switched has a better comment system.
Or more importantly, when if Engadget gonna fix the comment system?
Please sign this petition if you think the comment system needs to be fixed!

Yeah I remember it was widened and cleaned up a bit, but still, Engadget is all about cutting-edge stuff, so the site should reflect that! RIGHT?
Oh it's coming. Big time.
@Joshua
Really?! I gotta know, did the petition have anything to do with it?
@billcantfart
never. they like us complaining at.
Does that mean comments will work properly? Does that mean that "remember me" will actually, shocker, REMEMBER you? does that mean we'll get an edit buttonn?
@tc
That sentence just blew my mind.
How about the Engadget comment system gets a redesign? That can make all of us scream in joy for once!
did you read the post above you, or are you too busy screwing the headphone jack on your ipod?
@brian
AHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH ...ehhh.....WHAHAHAHAHAH
I went to Switch to check it out. First article I clicked on said "if you really want a Windows Mobile phone (though we're not sure why you would)..."
wtf? and here I thought Engadget was biased. I don't think I've read anything that blatant on a website clamoring for acceptance.
I don't think I'll be visiting Switched anymore.
I thought when it was launched Switched was billed as a sorta Engadget Lite? Something a tad less geeky and more palatable by the mainstream. Did I miss the memo?
I wonder if Switched and OpenDNS used the same artist for their logo design.
engadget's simplicity is a major reason for its amazingness
It would be nice if some of these AOL "blogs" were consolidated. There is too much overlap and quality suffers as some bloggers get tired of the direction things are going and all of the ads. Some of the sites are becoming plainly offensive and putting readers off as they try to shock to draw a larger crowd.
Ok. I am going to say it right now - If Engadget switches to a layout like that... I will switch to RSS feeds. Same goes if you start shrinking the bottom half of the pages like Downloadsquad does.
I love how a list of 15 items is spread across 16 pageviews. Not a site I plan on reading.
Lists of things that should be blatantly obvious to anyone does not a blog make. It makes me sad to see they forced you guys to plug them..
Yes! finally!! Switched RSS feed! Well done guys.
well hello
Can a web-site be neurotic?
