Ultmost Technology's 42-inch oval LCD on display

There's perilously scant detail to be had here, but this puppy -- a 42-inch LCD by Ultmost Technology --was on display at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair. Called the Fuss LC-4212B, we don't know anything about its specs, pricing, or availability... but we do know that it's pretty crazy looking, and we'd like to see a little more of it. One more shot after the break.

Gives a whole new meaning to the term "big bezel".
Damn right that's a big bezel. It's aesthetically dysfunctional and borders on distracting, especially with the gray speakers, but i'm a pretty big minimalist. I keep waiting for manufacturers to come up with a way to almost eliminate the crap space around devices. It'd do wonders for netbooks (writing this on an eee 1000h). You could easily fit a 11-12in screen on what is now a 10in device if the bezel was 1/8in instead of 1in.
Yeah that is a big bezel. It reminds me of those Packard Bell monitor-speakers.
I was hoping the screen itself would be oval shaped. That would be pretty cool. As it were, that's sadly not the case.
And any product branded "Fuss" isn't targeted at anyone in the English speaking world.
Total iphone kirf
looks like a giant PSP to me. haha. but i love it!
haha exactly!
Pretty much. Connect it to a PS3 and you get the adult version of the PSP!
that was my first thought too... can you imagine carrying that with spare battery/games/etc?
It's the PSP2, coming this x'mas!
@mikez
its already connected to a ps3 :)
Rectangles are sooooo 2008.
What, no mention of it looking like a giant iPhone? Engadget, you are a tough bunch to second guess.
probably because it doesn't look like a giant iphone...
Consider that point missed!
Er...and the others did???
ok...
*lowers head*
*quietly leaves the room*
dude you're lame ...
@the swiss
Shouldn't you be, you know, a bit more neutral?
I second severXcore's comment: it does look like a large PSP. It even seems to rip off the sony control menu... look at those icons.
I would think that's because of the PS3 connected to it...
bah its just a plain old rectangular screen in an oval casing...and here I was thinking of the Jetsons
Yeah, that's what I thought at first, then a split-second later the design grew on me and I thought "why not?" It's a pretty cool way to express design creativity in your living space. It rejects a lot of the conventional wisdom on TV design.
Of course, the specs need to match comparably-priced sets before I'd dish out.
I don't know what all the fuss is about.
Looks dumb, the round design could be great but they are not going to pull it off with all that black plastic and grey
This TV makes that guy in the 2nd picture look tiny.
it'd be funny if Sony was the actual culprit of this design. LOL Giant PSP. Sort of looking like an iPhone too but more PSP than anything.
is this a big ipod touch? ...
Lame.
I was hoping for an actual Oval Screen instead of these lame rectangles.
Ideal for retro-70's pop videos.. and some car interiors that are often designed by people who should find other occupations too.
We want encased in the wall, not sticking out like a sore thumb! Or a PSP or an Iphone.
Nice try. It will never see light of Best Buy (Oh is Best Buy still in business?)
Isn't that a rectangular LCD in an oval case ?
Ugly
thats not oval. thats ugly!
Totally gay. Not to mention how distracting those speakers are.
Good god that thing is ugly!
looks like a big Palm Pre
Thats the prototype of the coming PSP 2, huge touchscreen it has and is massively expensive.
It's bulky, but if they take advantage of the large speaker area with something respectable (advent, polk, etc.) they could be on to something.
I didn't realize that this was the "hater" board. The first 20 some comments were just people hating on a new idea. Gotta try something new once in a while.
That looks terrible. I'd never buy that.
