Keepin' it real fake, part CXCIX: NokiPhone N3000i dual slider is one part N95, two parts iPhone, and six parts win
Combining two pretty great ideas in a way that is all kinds of illegal in the US, the China-produced NokiPhone N3000i looks to be a pretty straightforward iPhone ripoff with bonus N95-esque dual slider capabilities. The GSM smartphone's got 3.2-inch QVGA screen, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, dual SIM support, microSD slot, and video recording capabilities. Price of admission is $129 right now, which according to chinagrabber is a hefty discount from its $400 MSRP. Your move, NOKLA.

More like one part N85. Besides the dual-slider _concept_ nothing looks similar to the N95.
iLoled. hahah, best phone ever!
now if they could but iphone os on it the that would be awesome!!
No WiFi, though. And look again, it's under $200.
Monster Cable sucks.
Copying other people isn't cool, especially on a post that copies other phones.
I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about...
So you are copying Saad Rabia from another post. You thought no one would notice?
Must have not scanned the comments on that post... I just put the words from Engadget's posting yesterday on the Monster article. I think Engadget should put something into every post, as suggested by those comments.
Looks more N96 to me, but meh
this is just wrong on every single level, wow....at least its feature-packed
The asthetic given while slid out also seem to reflect an air of Pre, whether it was intended or not.
Nokia-like
Am I correct then in assuming that I'm the only one who really doesn't care for these posts?
I love Engadget, because it's usually really bleeding edge, informative and insightful.
But china makes crappy ripoffs, I get that. I got it a hundred and ninety nine times.
No, I quite love the KIRF posts. I dream of buying some of these phones one day, just to see how crappy/fake/awesome they are.
I'm with you on that keem. Knock-off products have existed for years. No idea why Engadget posts about so many of them...
I think KIRF posts are awesome and make engadget a lot more fun.
if i had an infinite amount of money, i'd start collecting these things. the first on my list would be the Leady MM95, the cutest KIRF ever
it's a joke, so laugh :-)
i can see the locking mechanism breaking and the screen just sliding back and forth endlessly like some perpetual motion machine! lol!
lol!
Well if does do perpetual motion, hopefully you won't need a battery.
Now, for all you people that said the iphone needs a physical keyboard, look above. A design only a bastard's mother could love.
I am thankful everyday for my virtual keyboard.
I dunno, when it's closed it'll just be like a slightly chunkier iPhone. The big Nseries sliders would be greatly improved by a touchscreen interface for when you don't need the keypad.
I see a mistake..
WiFi???? pfft!
wrong
That would make this the least expensive Wifi phone ever, if it actually had Wifi of course.
Come on NOKLA! you can do one better!
make a pre-phone
or even i daresay, a touchpro2-esque iphone!
What has science done!?
When will they learn!!!
(on a plus side, if it was a landscape slider it wouldn't be that bad).
lol... yeah wait til they get the cloning science down pat and then you got kirf clones running round ie looks of kate beckinsdale, a little bit of evas and some jessica alba hints specced just to the customer's criteria
...By win, do you mean fail?
Looks it has better specs than the Iphone as well, might be a good deal
Too bad that the hardware is not the strong point of the iPhone, but the software is.
the only strong point of anything apple related is the software. the apple tax has proven this.
And it's proven there is no real Apple Tax.
Sigh another phone that does not support my bands, come on china!! make it have the usa basebands!!

just loved at how the icons are named.
for the calendar icon it's labeled as Extra, while the clock icon is labeled as Calendar.
I love the camera specs. "Factory print" 5 MP. "Actually" 2 MP. And the "max output" is 1.3 MP... How much you guys wanna bet it's REALLY just VGA like all the other KIRFs?
I just ordered one of these has capacitive touch..,
I spot two fails:
1. QVGA resolution is lame
2. The slide out number pad should be a keyboard instead (like the Palm Pre has). There is no point to a slider number pad, for dialing numbers the touchscreen is good enough and more than adequate,.
Wow you people above me are really bitter. The build might be questionable and the dual slide for the media controls and key pad doesnt really make sense on a touch phone. Should have had a physical keyboard instead but it has features that the iphone doesnt have and it is cheap too but whatever.
i think its gorgeous haha
I think ill stick with my iphone.
Your move, BMW.
Checkmate.
KIRF part CC better be epic, that's all I have to say.
I'm sorry, but look at that screenshot. All the damned menu labels overlap each other and are useless, leave it to the chinese to come up with such a POS.
the calculator is now...organizer!!!
that is actually pretty slick. i mean its probably a pretty chunky phone but its still a cool idea.
If the execution was better (a lot better) I'd totally buy that phone.
Looks like a toy :)
I can see why there is a market for these phones. All of these big companies pay the Chinese workers $0.05 a day to make their $500 phones; this is probably the only way these people can get their hands on something that looks like what they make in the factory all day. Of course, if it's not for the Chinese workers, the real thing is probably going to be so expensive that none of us here could afford it.
Calculator = "Organize"
Photos = "City Map"
Clock = "Calendar"
Calendar = "Extra"
Hmm..."extra" ;).
*taps calendar/extra, economy fixed*
Is it me, or does this phone actually not have Wifi?..i dont see any place on the site that talks about it having wifi. Other than that i think it looks pre-palm.ish
LOL what in the world is this thing? It's one of those things you see in an SNL skit. I'd have to be a chump to throw my money down for something like this.
NokiPhone hahahah
the NOKLA people must be raging mad that these punks copied them
I wonder how is this fake good industry sustainable? I mean if you have the technology to produce a mobile phone, why not produce something that is not a blatant rip-off? i know that these things probably never get out of where they are made (do i even need to say where that it?), but are the consumers there so ignorant to know that this is obviously a fake. for e.g. who in the world who has ever used (or even seen) a mobile phone doesn't know of Nokia, and that the thing they are about to buy is obviously a fake. or do these people actually think they are buying an original? or does the much lower price (which does come with much lower product quality) actually make economic sense for them since probably they would want to get a new one (probably another rip-off) in another year?
I guess these are mostly sold in poor developing countries where people haven't got enough money to spend, but they want to show off with fancy looking phones anyway. And they don't even need the advanced functions anyway.
what the hell...
Awesome mix of Nokia N85 and iPhone. ;)
Best of both worlds tbh
If only Apple would add a sliding keypad to the iPhone.
I can already see the Apple fantards throwing fits but think of the convenience.
It's a pity some people, even in gadget websites, don't like change and have irrational fears of doing things in new ways. Such as no need for a sliding keypad. Time to grow up and quit being an iHater fantard.
I like change. I hate continually pressing the wrong button until I'm ready to throw the blasted thing out the window. There's a reason why hackers have been making custom iPhone keyboards for a while now.
lol... no one has mentioned the music playing is "chairman mao's lecture records, new version" yet.
