Keepin' it real fake, part CXCIX: NokiPhone N3000i dual slider is one part N95, two parts iPhone, and six parts win
Combining two pretty great ideas in a way that is all kinds of illegal in the US, the China-produced NokiPhone N3000i looks to be a pretty straightforward iPhone ripoff with bonus N95-esque dual slider capabilities. The GSM smartphone's got 3.2-inch QVGA screen, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, dual SIM support, microSD slot, and video recording capabilities. Price of admission is $129 right now, which according to chinagrabber is a hefty discount from its $400 MSRP. Your move, NOKLA.

More like one part N85. Besides the dual-slider _concept_ nothing looks similar to the N95.
Ellianth @ Apr 18th 2009 6:47PM
iLoled. hahah, best phone ever!
Butteronaroll @ Apr 20th 2009 9:36AM
now if they could but iphone os on it the that would be awesome!!
BrianB @ Apr 19th 2009 1:36AM
No WiFi, though. And look again, it's under $200.
Lane @ Apr 18th 2009 5:59PM
Monster Cable sucks.
7egend @ Apr 18th 2009 6:07PM
Copying other people isn't cool, especially on a post that copies other phones.
Lane @ Apr 18th 2009 6:25PM
I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about...
mgsrocks1 @ Apr 18th 2009 7:03PM
So you are copying Saad Rabia from another post. You thought no one would notice?
Lane @ Apr 18th 2009 7:18PM
Must have not scanned the comments on that post... I just put the words from Engadget's posting yesterday on the Monster article. I think Engadget should put something into every post, as suggested by those comments.
Phoenix @ Apr 18th 2009 5:59PM
Looks more N96 to me, but meh
dolapo10 @ Apr 18th 2009 5:59PM
this is just wrong on every single level, wow....at least its feature-packed
KeegdnaB @ Apr 18th 2009 6:00PM
The asthetic given while slid out also seem to reflect an air of Pre, whether it was intended or not.
superhobo @ Apr 18th 2009 6:02PM
Nokia-like
keem @ Apr 18th 2009 6:06PM
Am I correct then in assuming that I'm the only one who really doesn't care for these posts?
I love Engadget, because it's usually really bleeding edge, informative and insightful.
But china makes crappy ripoffs, I get that. I got it a hundred and ninety nine times.
zim2411 @ Apr 18th 2009 7:10PM
No, I quite love the KIRF posts. I dream of buying some of these phones one day, just to see how crappy/fake/awesome they are.
King Mustard @ Apr 18th 2009 8:07PM
I'm with you on that keem. Knock-off products have existed for years. No idea why Engadget posts about so many of them...
G @ Apr 19th 2009 4:31AM
I think KIRF posts are awesome and make engadget a lot more fun.
if i had an infinite amount of money, i'd start collecting these things. the first on my list would be the Leady MM95, the cutest KIRF ever
crow610 @ Apr 19th 2009 2:41PM
it's a joke, so laugh :-)
Rob Conway @ Apr 18th 2009 6:07PM
i can see the locking mechanism breaking and the screen just sliding back and forth endlessly like some perpetual motion machine! lol!
Samboini @ Apr 18th 2009 6:16PM
lol!
q @ Apr 18th 2009 10:19PM
Well if does do perpetual motion, hopefully you won't need a battery.
7egend @ Apr 18th 2009 6:09PM
Now, for all you people that said the iphone needs a physical keyboard, look above. A design only a bastard's mother could love.
I am thankful everyday for my virtual keyboard.
sockatume @ Apr 19th 2009 8:28AM
I dunno, when it's closed it'll just be like a slightly chunkier iPhone. The big Nseries sliders would be greatly improved by a touchscreen interface for when you don't need the keypad.
myzter @ Apr 18th 2009 6:10PM
I see a mistake..
WiFi???? pfft!
wrong
That would make this the least expensive Wifi phone ever, if it actually had Wifi of course.
CleverEndeavor @ Apr 18th 2009 6:15PM
Come on NOKLA! you can do one better!
make a pre-phone
or even i daresay, a touchpro2-esque iphone!
bureX @ Apr 18th 2009 6:16PM
What has science done!?
Templarian @ Apr 18th 2009 7:06PM
When will they learn!!!
(on a plus side, if it was a landscape slider it wouldn't be that bad).
xconan @ Apr 19th 2009 3:15AM
lol... yeah wait til they get the cloning science down pat and then you got kirf clones running round ie looks of kate beckinsdale, a little bit of evas and some jessica alba hints specced just to the customer's criteria
Peter J @ Apr 18th 2009 6:16PM
...By win, do you mean fail?
digitallysick @ Apr 18th 2009 6:22PM
Looks it has better specs than the Iphone as well, might be a good deal
Patriks7 @ Apr 18th 2009 6:59PM
Too bad that the hardware is not the strong point of the iPhone, but the software is.
vdex34 @ Apr 18th 2009 10:28PM
the only strong point of anything apple related is the software. the apple tax has proven this.
Patriks7 @ Apr 19th 2009 5:20AM
And it's proven there is no real Apple Tax.
digitallysick @ Apr 18th 2009 6:23PM

just loved at how the icons are named.
for the calendar icon it's labeled as Extra, while the clock icon is labeled as Calendar.
greenlight @ Apr 18th 2009 8:21PM
I love the camera specs. "Factory print" 5 MP. "Actually" 2 MP. And the "max output" is 1.3 MP... How much you guys wanna bet it's REALLY just VGA like all the other KIRFs?
Shank @ Apr 18th 2009 6:24PM
I just ordered one of these has capacitive touch..,
JS @ Apr 18th 2009 6:24PM
I spot two fails:
1. QVGA resolution is lame
2. The slide out number pad should be a keyboard instead (like the Palm Pre has). There is no point to a slider number pad, for dialing numbers the touchscreen is good enough and more than adequate,.
Chadwick @ Apr 18th 2009 6:26PM
Wow you people above me are really bitter. The build might be questionable and the dual slide for the media controls and key pad doesnt really make sense on a touch phone. Should have had a physical keyboard instead but it has features that the iphone doesnt have and it is cheap too but whatever.
dan! @ Apr 18th 2009 6:32PM
i think its gorgeous haha
Ryan @ Apr 18th 2009 7:01PM
I think ill stick with my iphone.
alej469 @ Apr 18th 2009 7:28PM
Your move, BMW.
Dahk @ Apr 19th 2009 1:23AM
Checkmate.
??? @ Apr 18th 2009 7:29PM
KIRF part CC better be epic, that's all I have to say.
biohazard1067 @ Apr 18th 2009 7:41PM
I'm sorry, but look at that screenshot. All the damned menu labels overlap each other and are useless, leave it to the chinese to come up with such a POS.
chickenator @ Apr 18th 2009 8:18PM
the calculator is now...organizer!!!
tristan88 @ Apr 18th 2009 10:32PM
that is actually pretty slick. i mean its probably a pretty chunky phone but its still a cool idea.
bluesky_v2.01 @ Apr 18th 2009 10:45PM
If the execution was better (a lot better) I'd totally buy that phone.
Tushar @ Apr 18th 2009 11:08PM
Looks like a toy :)
idiot @ Apr 18th 2009 11:10PM
I can see why there is a market for these phones. All of these big companies pay the Chinese workers $0.05 a day to make their $500 phones; this is probably the only way these people can get their hands on something that looks like what they make in the factory all day. Of course, if it's not for the Chinese workers, the real thing is probably going to be so expensive that none of us here could afford it.
