Nexto's NVS2500 archives your photos, dreams, and memories
What, you're still looking for the perfect place to archive your photos between candid, booze-fueled wedding reception moments? If JOBO's GIGA didn't do it, nor Digital Foci's Photo Safe, maybe Nexto's half-terabyte NVS2500 is the one you've been waiting for. It packs a 2.5-inch drive that can be as small as 160GB if you're so inclined, a 2.4-inch LCD, and of course integrated readers for just about every memory card format known to man. It can even write simultaneously to an external USB device, ensuring you never lose that precious photo of Uncle Saul scaring the flower girl with his dentures. No word on availability or price, but perhaps by the time the Smith-Fitzimmons party pays off its album you'll be able to pick one up.

Erm... What's with the dentures?
About to say the same thing.
.... If that's a 2.4" LCD, then those are the largest flash cards in history.
you are an idiot....
A measurement of a screen is always on the diagonal. So no, those are not big cards.
Damn you Uncle Saul...
As I can see, it has BlueTooth.
*rimshot*
wait wait wait...does it say 'Next to Di[e]' on it?
That's freakin' me out, man.
I concur. Either its a twisted way of killing someone, or the marketing gurus there aren't too bright.
I see a bad Japanese technology/ghost movie coming out of this...
First thing I thought of two when I saw the image on the main page.
Way to name your 'archiving' product.... Maybe I'll invent another film distribution format and name it 'willit catch on'.
Along with the Skype appliance, another gadget to be made a victim of the £200 netbook.
I have an older Nexto and it's a great little piece of hardware. I was able to buy it with no hard drive and put in the drive of my choice. (It's cheaper that way.) I'm a pro and I travel around the world and the Nexto goes with me even when I'm carrying a 17" MacBook Pro in my backpack with all my camears.
It'll download 50 gigs before it needs a recharge. And it just works. For a lot less money than the JOBO which has a big screen on it, but it's useless compared to the screen where I edit photos on my MBP.
Does your older Nexto support viewing RAW files downloaded from your camera or is it JPEGs only? I can't seem to see whether the device offers RAW support from the website.
cool- I like the all-in-one card readers- ProMaster makes a nice one, but as a USB to plug into your computer and download- nice to have one attached to a hard drive. I assume it does support RAW- it'd have to.
I agree on the strange chopper shot and the 2.4 CM screen (not inch).
Now, we need a camera manufacturer to get really smart and back up all shots on their 35mm DSLR internal HD - even get a 50-100GB HD in the camera- or an attachment similar to our ol' motor drive add-ons. Come on Canon, Nikon, whomever.
Glad to see they finally updated the "basic aluminum box" design.
