Ito Electronics shows off waterproof OLED displays

Details are about as light as can be on this one, but it looks like Japan's Ito Electronics has developed some sort of special "packaging technology" that can make OLED displays fully waterproof, which could be particularly used for watches, cellphones, or that fish tank home theater you've always dreamed of. Of course, there's no word on any actual products just yet, nor is there any indication of possible transparent waterproof displays -- or, at least, none that anyone has seen.

Great! Now I can watch tv in the pool. :)
Or the shower while watching some hot STEAMY pr0n!
You know, every time I see someone talk about pr0n, I think 'kinky whip cream sex'... total turnoff.
Don't be fucking ridiculous, you would need a waterproof keyboard and mouse for that, then you would need a surface to put them on... not to mention the wiring you would have to insulate to get the screen to the desktop...
All that for a soggy wank?

Not all porn is on the internetz
its... not?
@Oli
That's what touch screens are for,,,
So I get a bunch of emails saying you guys replied to my comment....clicked the link and saw that my comment was "Highest Ranked" all fixed up in blue. I was so excited I almost stopped breathing, I thought they fixed the system....then I clicked go back to original post. And then I did die. My comment is neutral...and no pretty blue colors. :( I don't really care...I just wish they would fix the stupid system already. Argh. Sigh.
Packaging technology = Cellophane!
Yeah I don't see how waterproofing a screen is all that difficult.
Jeez, is there anything he's things can't do
I bet they can't fly!
The Internet is for Porn...FOR PORN!
No, seriously though, it seems as though OLED tech is almost limitless in applications from rear-view-mirrors to transparent 3d to now waterproof displays. Lets hurry up and get this tech to the consumer-I'm tired with all this Concept bullshit. Now that its possible, why the HELL is it taking so long to get this into the mainstream display market? Btw, my Cowon S9's AMOLED is SICK!

Wow thats kinda neet.... Now if we could only buy one :*/
Any guess as to how long it takes for an OLED to disintegrate under direct sunlight?
longer than your average geek, thus making it irrelevant.
@ andres
Oh snap!
Is this really news? This has been out for a few years now

Great to see all these advances in OLED, particularly when there's hardly any OLED items on the market! WHEN ARE WE GOING TO SEE ALL THESE GREAT THINGS OUT IN THE REAL WORLD?
... I think the real point is that water/moisture is not a problem for this OLED design / materials stack.
Moisture and Oxygen are not good to OLEDs...
From memory, might be wrong, the reason OLEDs haven't already replaced LCD/PDP is that the lifetime is still not that great (esp. blue) this may be due, in part, to the moisture/O2 ingress... that and the high price! ...early adopters always end up paying for the R&D costs of bringing a new tech to the market :-(
