Samsung's 46 and 55-inch B9000 HDTVs boast widgets, wireless external media box
With no picture to show for it, unfortunately (that's the 8 series, pictured), Samsung's gone ahead and announced the 46-inch and 55-inch B9000 HDTVs, which looks to be a follow-up to the A950 models from last year. According to flatpanelshd, the latest addition to the Touch of Color series include LED backlights with localized dimming, Medi@2.0 with YouTube / Yahoo! widgets, built-in USB port, DLNA functionality, built-in DVB-T and DVB-C tuners, and most interesting, a wireless connection to an external media box that's reportedly similar to Sony's ZX1 -- no word on whether or not that means it's using WHDI. As for the other details, including pricing and availability, you're gonna have to keep waiting, we're afraid.

This set will easily be in the $5,000 range...
But that's okay seeing as how I work for BB so I'm sure we'll get a monster discount on it.
Looking forward to pairing this with a nice Samsung Bluray player. I was all hyped for the LED LCD series and while they are fantastic and provide excellent picture they apparently aren't as good as the A950. So I'm gonna wait for this and finally own a nice HDTV.
Please let this come in either Red, Blue, and/or Grey ToC.

I'm sure it'll come in Scarlet.
These sets do rock, but I think your $5k price is a bit off the mark. I'd guess $3,500 tops.

Trust me I hope I'm dead wrong but given the prices on the 6000, 7000, and 8000 series it wouldn't surprise me....although Samsung is reasonable unlike sony so perhaps they'll do $3,500 for the smaller size and around $4,000 for the bigger ones...
I'm very intrigued by the Media@2.0 functionality though. I know some think it's a gimmick but at least it has some uses as opposed to this 3D bullsh*t that's currently taking over the movie industry....

Fry's in Tempe, AZ. is doing the 8000 for $3200 - 3700, depending if you catch one of their sales, but $3700 was the going price about 3 weeks ago when we were there.

as an owner of a 950 series im very interested to see what they've done here. the localized led backlighting is really nothing short of stunning.
Russell @ Apr 21st 2009 8:26PM
ditto, the 950 is the most amazing TV i've seen, excepting the OLED prototypes at CES

Any plans to release 40 inch B9000?
chris @ Apr 21st 2009 10:15PM
I just read that Samsung already lowered the prices of the new LED TV's. So by the time the 9000 series comes out it maybe in the mid 3's.

so glad im waiting. Since I first got my Lg37 LCD when they first came out and that cost me an arm and a leg. I again guess ill be buying during Aug when they should be down considerably.
