Just tethered my G1 to my laptop over the USB cable today at lunch using PDAnet from June Fabrics. (yes, I pay for the extra data capability through Tmo to allow tethering)
That's something you can't do with an iPhone unless you "jailbreak" it.
BTW, I have a used iPhone for sale. It's one of the original ones. Turned out it was cheaper to get a G1 and break the AT&T contract than it was to upgrade to the iPhone 3G. There were initially some things I missed about the iPhone, but the main thing I missed was completely cured by YouMail.com. And GoogleVoice may eventually be even better than YouMail.
Although some of the programs I have for my G1 were not available through their official market, I didn't have to "jailbreak" my phone to install them from other sources. That's enough right there to keep me from going back to the iPhone, although I would be happier with Android if I could get better 3G coverage than Tmo gives. -- http://www.chl-tx.com
