New Snow Leopard beta build includes screen recording capabilities, a certain je ne sais quoi
If you're keeping track of Snow Leopard's progress, you'll be pleased to know that a new build (10A335) has been released into the hands of devs (and consequently, the world). Most interestingly, however, is that it seem this new iteration has a handy screen grab feature that hasn't made an appearance until now -- namely, the native ability (under QuickTime) to "record" your on-screen activities. There are other third-party apps that handle this duty, like the classily-named Snapz Pro X, but the inclusion in this latest beta will almost certainly mainstream the function. It should come in handy if you're constantly trying to tell you parents how to change their network settings, or if you're thinking about producing your own version of You Suck at Photoshop.

(screenshot) looks Vista-like
For a self-styled "style company", OSX is starting to look very tired graphically. Looks like 7 really is the final nail in the Linux/OSX coffins.
Wow never have a seen such a flame war but on topic here is i love windows media encoder. My coworker was looking for a program that can record what he does on his desktop something he needs to do for work. You know like those tech demo's of how to do this and that of whatnot. He was introduced to windows media encoder and boy it is awsome and best of all it is FREE.
my other friends trying to convince me go with apple because he says "it is the way to go". Only problem there is i am not a ordinary pc users. I am a system builder/hard core gaming enthusiast. Unlike most i know what i am doing and i don't deal with bloatware my system is very stable and hasn't crashed once since i build it. I don't get viruses because it is soo obvious that these files are fake. But then again i am not an ordinary pc user like most. I hardly ever complain about a microsoft product at all even the xbox 360 is more fun to play then the ps3. In fact i am quite disappointed with kill zone 3.
And windows 7 to have xp built in that is awsome. My rig will be able to run legacy apps no problems since i use xp on vmware and goes just as fast as my real pc does. But then again you have to keep third party applications tamed and not to have them run in the BACKGROUND ALL THE TIME WHEN NOT NEEDED. Its called using either Services (that icon that looks like a gear that controls automatic manual disable. Bet half of you don't even know that that is. Its the advanced version of msconfig.) or msconfig to keep these programs in check.
I am currently using windows vista premium for 1.5 years already and don't regret going back to xp and definitely won't buy a apple especially if you are a hardcore enthusiast gamer. Sorry apple not my preferred choice.
I laugh on most of these comments on here and seriously needs correction but oh well people are well people lol.
I'm AWESOMELY EXCITED to see screencasting/video tutorial making continue to grow.
Having tools like this will make it easier — video bug reports are a great way to show the devs what YOU see, instead of a wordy description which is too prone to errata, confusion, and contemptibly ambiguous interpretation.
I am still trying to find my SD card slot on my Macbook Pro. Please tell me I don't have to hook my D300 up with the usb cord.
My favorite app on my mac so far is bootcamp.
it's right there, between the floppy drive & the Zip drive.
In other news, PC users keep doing what they have been for nearly a decade now.
wishing they had a Mac?
Built in screen recorder? Finally. I don't want to pay $70 for Snapz Pro X.
I think both Snow Leopard and Windows 7 will be great releases. As far as I am concerned, the recording capability included in the operation system is not that powerful as recording software such as Screen Flow, Camtasia or DemoCreator.
