Android Dev Phones get early shot at Cupcake
While mere mortals will most likely have to wait until May to get at Cupcake (probably even stooping so low as to refer to it as Android 1.5, those commoners), the proud, good-looking possessors of Android Dev Phones can get at the update right this instant from HTC's website. Naturally, we'd assume somebody's going to figure out how to get these images onto rooted G1s before long, but we wouldn't want to over estimate the intelligence or temerity of the proletariat.

the virtual keyboard in the official image seems a lot more accurate than the beta builds. Maybe they were able to implementthe expanded key zones like in the iphone. I'm typing way more accurately now.
It was easy, just used fastboot and manually flashed the .img files. Done and done.
Make sure you flash the new radio rom after flashing the new os. Bluetooth won't work properly without it.
I just want that battery cover/door, it looks SICK
Me too! I'm not sure where to get one, I want to look around and see if I can find some contact info for google's android section.

Cupcake running and rooted on my G1. Took way longer than I wanted. I'm so tired I almost lack the energy to play with it. Almost. It's perfect.
Haykuro over at XDA devs has king of already ported it. I think that was about 2 weeks ago. Here is the link to his blog:
