Samsung's Android-powered I7500 caught in smudgy Russian wilds
Frankly, if we were forced to choose between smudgy and blurry, we'd take the former each day of the week. Russia's own Mobile-Review has somehow already managed to wrap its paws around one of the newly released Android-based I7500s, and while it's not really a drastic departure from Sammy's other smartphones of late, it's still worth a peek if you're suddenly in the market for one. Check the read link for the goods.

Engadget, banhammer. Here. Now. Thanks.
If you didn't want smudgy why didn't you use the first image in the read link?
coz smudgy is funnerer, and follows the chronological order below:
Mr Rumorpic > Mr Blurrycam > Mr Smudgycam > Official press shot

From a WinMo user: SHUT UP!
As an avid WinMo user, I can at least admit when another OS is a great alternative.
Android has a come a long way and will be a formidable competitor when more sets are introduced.
sick, looks like the guy from that stupid arby's commercial was playing with this phone

I think someone needs to wash their hands...
another Samsung
eww. it looks like it was wiped over a pubescent teenagers forehead.
I just laughed and threw up at the same time. I hate you. :-)
sorry but when i think about russia i think dirty...slutty dirty women, dirty beer drinking russian mobster types. no dirty android...only i can see the android being cleaned up :)
and I think that you are a stupid idiot.
This is the main reason why I actually prefer using a stylus.
Great, an amazing looking device that makes my G1, which already looks like it was designed in the early 90's, look even older! 3.5 jack too, and thinner! Ah well, that's what I get for adopting early.
No keyboard, though.
On a related observation, NONE of the leaked upcoming Android phones have keyboards. Is the G1 going to be the last ever Android phone with a physical keyboard?
No

Hmm, if o2 have these in October then my upgrade is decided already :)
Bring this to the US!!! and Verizon! Now!!!
Pls include a cloth in the package.
True, and not that gargantuan sleeve that came with the G1 which made an already large phone even more cumbersome.
The G1 came with a sleeve? I probably threw it away before examining it because of my fundamental hatred of phone cases of any kind.
how the eff do the russians always get this stuff first?
damn those russians are greeseballs
I'll take the Huawei Android...kthanx
Great phone nonetheless
And where the hell can you find one? In Shentzen?
They have Android based Huawei poised for T-Mobile launch Q3...
You see the smudge with screen off, screen on the backlight usually takes care of it. The phone is really nice. I really want it, but I'm staying on Sprint, so I can ignore the Pre and wait for whatever Samsung releases on Sprint Q3/Q4 for Android...but it's too damn far.
I love the look and specs here, though.
More details here. http://tech.yahoo.com/news/pcworld/20090427/tc_pcworld/samsungunveilsitsfirstgooglephone
AMOLED FTW!
iPhone better have OLED in their next h/w version in order to grow their customer base. Otherwise, it will be left behind as a fanboy toy (hence, it will need to rely more on the Appstore and 0.99 fart apps).
someone didn't take his ritalin today...
The latest Samsung touch smartphones are really great devices: well built with good materials, chock full of apps and great software, Touchwiz is an excellent shell for Win Mobile (maybe the best yet), and they are sexy and stylish.
But somehow Samsung always manages to fuck up every new model with some stupid details, or the lack or some essential feature, or the abysmal quality and/or performance of just one, but very important component.
I bought an Omnia (i900) and it was fantastic, but incredibly it lacked voice dialling, and even after installing (and paying dearly for) MS voice commander, it didnt work over BT headsets.
Now I changed it with a new Omnia (i910) which does voice dialling , but always uses 3g/HDSPA insted of WIFI unless you disable the radios.
Sammy is not alone in this though: I have also an HTC touchHD, which is quite good too, but it's almost impossible to pick up the handset without activating the absurdly huge and wrongly positioned volume buttons on its left side, making every operation difficult and awkward and moreover it is equipper with a BT transmitter that is the worst ever seen in any device of any price.
This new Sammy, like almost all its latest models, seems promising, but I have the feeling that this too will come with (at least ) one egregious mistake that would totally spoil what otherways could have been an excellent smartphone; and given the absolute disregard that Samsung always showed for after sale support and updates I doubt that this will be the phone that will change my plan of grabbing the first Nokia N97 that shows up in Scandinavia.
AMOLED is not needed. Nokia doesn't use it so it can only mean it's not important.
wut?
wut wut? I never seen anyone using samsung in my home market. Everyone has nokia or Sony and there's a reason for that. Nokia is just better. If Nokia does not use android, that's because symbian is just better. I see no reason to consider any other phone when N97 is coming out soon.
is the author of this post just jealous about russians getting this thing faster or he is really stupid?!
no matter how you wash your hends they will leave finger prints on such kind of surface! pure jealousy! i am disgusted!
pretty cool
Does that have a world map etched on the back?
*crosses fingers for captive touch screen* if so im sold
*capacitive*
fixed.

Why put the USB Port on the top??? I hate cords sticking up the top. I usually get two cradles, one for work and one for home. I like HTC's approach to cradles...ship one with 8 different inserts to cover their line. All charge from the bottom. I'm ok with the 3.5mm being on the top or side as I don't use it often (have bluetooth most everywhere)
I'm excited for the phone, but can this be used on AT&T?
I keep seeing people say it will be useable on T-Mobile, but never AT&T. From what I understand, this phone also works on the same frequencies as AT&T (850/1900 I think it is).
So would it work on AT&T, just not its 3G network?
Correct, though why you'd want to spend the high cost of an unlocked phone on one that will only do EDGE for you is beyond me.
Nice looking. It will be either the Hawei, the i7500 or the TouchPro2 for me if I stay with Tmo. I can do most everything on my G1 with the trackball, so it doesn't look like a smudge magnet. If cupcake/1.5 brings built-in Exchange support and bluetooth stereo it can be my day to day phone. I'd really like to see a reasonable tethering plan TMO. I don't travel a ton, but when I do I'd like to be able to tether my laptop. I use my dash today over EDGE.
