Sony rolls out new Bluetooth headphones for in-ear or out

They're not exactly breaking down any barriers of style or function, but those looking for some straightforward Bluetooth headphones may want to consider one of Sony's latest offerings, which come in both in-ear and over-the-ear varieties. On the in-ear front, Sony has the DR-BT100CX (pictured after the break), which includes some USB charging capabilities, a promised eight hours of playback time, and three different silicon ear buds to ensure a snug fit. Those looking for something a little less discreet can opt for the DR-BT101CX, which offers the same USB charging, a slightly better 12 hours of playback time and, most notably, a 30mm neodymium driver for a bit more oomph. No word on pricing just yet, but it looks like both should be available any day now -- in Europe, at least.

Will this work for new iPhone bt?
i think it will work with all 3g iphones after 3.0 is released
but whats the point if it still has that piece hanging down? wouldn't that be heavy/annoying?
@josh: at it being heavy not at all, i usually tuck mines under my shirt/coat and can place my mp3player/phone in my pocket without the hassle of the wire being tugged therefore the earplugs coming out of my ears. its quite handy.
@Josh
What does 3G have to do with Bluetooth compatibility?
the 3g itself has nothing to do with it, but os3.0 won't give a2dp stereo bluetooth to the first gen iphones, iphone 3g and whatever the new one will be called (im assuming it will have 3g) will be getting stereo bluetooth, thus all 3g iphones will get it, first gen (edge only) will not
Does Bluetooth stereo sound good enough to cut the cord on my Bose Triports?
Check these babies out then, I plan to get a pair

Having owned a Sony HBH DS200 BT headset, I can confirm the sound quality was excellent. Best of all, you could unplug the supplies iPhone like headset from the transmitter and jack in your own cans using the 3.5mm socket built into the transmitter. And those were a 2007 model. id did find that pairing was less reliable with my Nokia E71 and more reliable with my Sony Ericsson K800i, but I have found that the E71 metal case does effect all wireless aspects of it's otherwise excellent performance. (IE, the E71 also dropped calls where my K800i does not.)
Anyway, if these more recent phones from Sony are as good as the DS200, you won't go wrong. The only flaw with BT is you cannot use the built in FM radio in your phone.
The headphones look awesome but I wish the dongle for the buds had a 3.5mm jack so that I can use buds of my liking. Sadly the headphone will likely come with a heartbreaking Sony-tax and sold with a hefty markup at your local swine flu affected airport.
This is going to be a huge market after the iPhone 3.0 update is out and about.
Mmm...
right...
I own many bluetooth products and 5% of the time it becomes unpaired. Why does that happen. It happens with others I know too. I have the older model headphones and they sound great. What happens when the battery goes? Does anyone know? I suppose you just replace the headphones.

My Nokia bluetooth headphones sound better than any wired earbuds I have ever tried including any Bose model (though not as good as the wired Grado I use at home), they let me answer a call if one should come, and they have never been unpaired once in more than an year I used them.
As headsets I had Jabra and HTC and occasionally they would become unpaired after they had been switched off, but this never happens now with my LG, and my Plantronics voyager Pro headsets.
Just headphone? Not headset?
I need to stop drinking in the mornings......
@xcrunk
Probably, tri-ports sound terrible, i had a pair and my 40 dollar sony's sounded better. For the money (~$100) there are a ton of headphones that would be good replacements for the tri-ports.
I picked up a pair of the DR-BT101 at work a couple days ago to try out the stereo bluetooth on 3.0 beta and they work pretty well. The sound quality was very good even walking well outside the 30ft range (LoS). Walking around my little 2 bedroom apartment never lost the tunes either. There was a few problems I did find. If the iPhone goes to sleep and you pause the music using the controls on the headset when you try to resume the music it will cut in and cut out until you go back to the iPhone and unlock it. Like i said the play and pause buttons work, volume controls work and even the answer a phone call work, but for some reason the skip forward and backwards will not. The version I got retails i believe $80 but with employee it was only like $36 so got to love that.
It apears that both units have a mic built in, is that for phones? or active noise cancellation?
It IS beautiful.
Should have put the dangly bit on a lanyard and all buttons on the face. Then you can wear it under your shirt Keeping all cables out of site. Nearly had my ears ripped out on a packed tube (subway for the yanks) the other day by a women with no sense of how far her handbag was protruding. Even worse though it managed to yank my iPhone out of my pocket sending it smashing to the floor. Thank god for the case!
These are looking pretty sweet. I like Sony's designs, but they are usually overpriced and people keep telling me to go with other brands like Sennheiser or Bose for quality.
finally some good blue tooth head phones, now I just need the prices to drop before I can afford them.
Can you use these on your PC and listen to WMP etc. with them. I have a buffalo headset that I can't get to work with WMP. It seems to be restricted to VOIP and messenger apps
For some reason Bluetooth A2DP (Stereo Bluetooth) is not supported natively on PC.
Gotta use 3rd party like http://www.bluesoleil.com/ to make it work.
you are wrong. the widcomm (now broadcomm) BT stack natively supports A2DP. You just have to install the corresponding driver package from your dongle manufacturer, with newer versions of Windows even that is not needed anymore, as the MS stack should do it out of the box.
looooks so good.
the BH-903 is still the best Bluetooth headset out. The sound is great. You can adjust the player to sit neck high to belly low. And it's in Black! Technology is best dressed in Black!
I like the style of the over-the-ear headphones even though I'm more of an around-the-ear headphones.
I've always liked the sound from good Sony headphones and they're stylish too.
