Vodafone Spain first to launch HTC Magic
In a surprise announcement, Vodafone Spain is set to launch Magic, HTC's 2nd Android handset, in just a few hours. The countdown timer appeared early this morning with local sales set to begin at 1700 hours. That gives Vodafone Spain subscribers an 8 day head start on the rest of the world -- an eternity for Android nerds. Unfortunately, while it's free with applicable contract on Vodafone UK, it's gonna cost you in Spain -- rates our Spanish friends describe as "outrageous." Let's see if our Canadian friends agree.

Yep, my friend who live in Spain say to me : Vodafone is very expensively and they are thieves
"That gives Vodafone Spain subscribers an 8 day head start on the rest of the world .."
and which world that be? this phone has been on sale for 2 weeks in Italy on the Telecom Italia website:
http://www.tim.it/consumer/o84837/prodotto.do
However at a mere 429 euros, I'm hoping to see a better quality/price with the new Samsung I7500
the phone on the links is htc dream... not htc magic
sorry.. it is htd magic in black :p
the sasmung should be cheaper
That is definitely an HTC Dream.
In what world is the Magic the Dream? Mama mia, RTFA.
so when is cupcake available? Isn't that the build the HTC Magic has?
I get confused by all these models. Do they all run the same OS with the same GUI? They should stick to one killer design.
That's the complete opposite of the point. Any design, but one core UI and app catalog. Kinda simple, imo.
Could we just get a android phone in Canada PLEASE
Hopefully, but probably not before the new wireless companies get in on the game in 2010. God I hate RogBelus.
huh? why link to a rogers price page from june 2008? those are not the only packages. also unlike most carriers who thrive on small print scams, rogers and fido do not and all the plans listed are tethering plans. show me a better at&t tethering plan.
Rogers is open and honest? How about the phone they sold me that I later learned had half the functionality locked out? Did they tell me that they had disabled features like "set mp3 as ring tone" and voice dialing? Nope.
I bought a phone based on good reviews just to find out I had a handicapped version of that phone.
I also love the fact that Call Display, the only extra feature I want on my phone, has gone from $3 to $8 per month over the last few years, all in an effort push their other useless features in a crappy bundle "deal."
this mean that next it should be in the US on verizon. considering the vodafone connection.
No. Next it will go to other Vodafone places in Europe so that you guys don't fuck it up.
When will the KIRF "HTC Nightmare" be available... how many days?
AHAHAH Im sure KIRFgadget will have full coverage!...
I love KIRFS! All flash without substance and lenghty contracts... the perfect woman! AHAHAH!!!!!!
Dude, lay off the pot.
There is that ugly clock again! what is with android and that damn clock!
the point of android, is that you can customize everything. If you don't like the interface, just download a new one. problem solved
Timer went to 0:00:00 then started to go up. Nothing else happened!
HTC Magic will be coming out on the Vodafone Italy network too. One of the tariffs will be 149 euro upfront with 9 euro a month or you can buy it outright for 449 euro (see link below) In Italian.

I managed to successfully complete the purchase process within the first six minutes of availability, before the webshop went down because of "technical difficulties".
From the webshop and the blog vodafone Spain made for the launch, it comes with a microSD of 8gb.
It will cost me 199€ on a 9€/month calls plan and "unlimited" data plan adding another 12€/month. At least, they delivered without added cost.
It is expected to be delivered in 8 days, we'll see if they keep up to their word...
The only option is white color (at least that's is what is seen in my invoice) and ships with Android "cupcake" or 1.5.
Hope it gets home faster...
I am curious how do they manage to say this device lasts for 660h in idle. That means 27,5 days with the phone on. too good to be true.
This one looks way better than the G1. A sliding QWERTY keyboard would have made this a perfect phone!
