It's crazy, we know. Just hours after hearing shockingly believable
whispers that Apple's white-hot iPhone 3G could be
sashaying over to Verizon Wireless, in flies a
Wall Street Journal report asserting that the suits in Redmond are (also?) in talks with America's largest carrier. 'Course, we've heard
rumors that Microsoft was banging out a smartphone behind closed doors for centuries now, but much to our chagrin, there's no mention of "
Zune" in "
Project Pink." Instead, we're told that said handset is a touchscreen-based multimedia phone that will aim to extend the Windows Mobile OS while "adding new software capabilities." Not surprisingly, the article also mentions that Windows Marketplace would be front and center on the phone, and potentially most interesting is this tidbit: "a third-party is expected to make the device." Hey HTC -- seen any strange calls originating from the 425?

I seriously hope that his does not mean the death of the Zune.
Geez, lay off Windows Mobile. Sure, I'll admit that 6.1 wasn't the prettiest OS, nor was it finger friendly (until all those UI skins like touchflo, touchwiz and pointhome). Give Microsoft a chance with WinMo 6.5. The early demos were quite underwhelming but that was because they were early betas. The latest version of 6.5 (from xda dev) is wicked fast and is really responsive. Here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFjPVpyGvsk (that videos a bit old now as well)
Coming from someone who has an iPod Touch and is receiving an Omnia quite soon.
"And let us know when OSX surpasses sales of Windows."
Technically, this just kind of happened - add up Mac OS X, plus iPhone and iPod Touch sales and they put OS X in the number 1 sales spot based on OS.
Technically, your post just kind of has a point.
Technically, that is just kind of not a ridiculous comparison.
Its the 206. 425 is for poseurs from LA who just moved here and immediately overpaid for a house thus jacking up our real estate market for the townies or cutters as the kids call us these days. So turn your BMW around and don't forget to take your über trendy cupcake bakery with you.

Save me, Toshiba!
Good news! Its not really going CDMA and Verizon. If you look closely, it says 3G AT&T right in the middle of the screen. I find this ridiculously hilarious seeing as they are supposedly going to be partnering up with Verizon.
Maybe Microsoft plans to do to its WinMo "partners" what it has done to all other companies that have ever gotten into business with them: Screw them over.
I was thinking a concept like this, using windows 7...

Finally Verizon getting some love. I don't care what the hell they make, or if it's Google, Apple, or Microsoft dishing out the goods! Just for once, please let Verizon have the shizzzzz.
Someone get a net to catch the monkeys flying out of my ass!
NOOO MICROSOFT!!! DON'T DO IT! I would hate to see the Microsoft Phone sell exactly 34 units to Gates, Ballmer, and his family, then they yank the unit after wasting $10m on ads saying how Lauren isn't COOL enough for an iPhone....
Itunes has a 75% market share. FYI
I really think everyone should stop trying killing the iPhone, haha I think it's a great phone the UI is awesome and multi touch screen is the shiz. I never really did like Zune's compared to iPods, but mostly because I guess I could say they're not 'visually appealing' and that Apple pretty mush set the bar for mp3 players and their god like phone, it seems like all other mp3s are posers compared to iPods. I actually love apple as a company and innovators but Microsoft is awesome to, i just prefer Apple, everything they make intrigues me haha. But MS can keep working on projects Pink but I think it's crap what they did to Danger and they're employees that made a wonderful new Sidekick LX.
