Vodafone's HTC Magic gets unboxed on video

While white seems to have been the color of choice for most official demos of the HTC Magic, there's also a black version headed to Vodafone (and other carriers, eventually), and the folks at Netbooknews.de got their hands on one of those once mythical handsets for a video unboxing. As you can see above (and in the video after the break), the packaging is a pretty sparse affair, as are the bundled accessories, which includes only a USB cable, a power adapter, a basic wired headset, and a case that apparently "feels a little cheap." And, if by some chance you still haven't seen the Magic in action, you can get a glimpse of that in the video as well.

that looks pretty sweet... except the cheap plastics...
Presented by Bruno!
Presented by Bondo!
Plus a USB cables to get my datas!
He's got the right voice for Bruno but not the hair!
This guy is a legend in his own right though.
"The Vodafone guys might get pissed a little bit"
definitely no iphonekiller,
Concentrate on quality not quantity htc!
They would cost twice as much as they do now if they did that.
Good impressions, much better than the Samsung Android phone guys. I like the shape a lot more than the G1 and he said performance increased a lot.
Seems like they could use the touch screen more. I wish more people would discuss what text entering is like on the touch screen.
The performance increase is completely due to cupcake since the hardware specs between the magic and g1 are almost identical. The g1 running cupcake will see the same performance increases.
All this mentioning of cupcakes is making me hungry.
Where is this guy unboxing this? It sounds like he's in a lumber yard.
Yeah, as seen here and in pretty much all other articles, you're a tool that has nothing more to do with his precious time than to post nonsense here. I almost feel sorry for your obviously lacking life...
I was waiting for him to show us the on screen keyboard. Maybe I missed it?
He did not show it.
I think the G1 keyboard is really good.. too bad it would be missing from the Magic and the Samsung one. I know I will get flame.. but so far... I think WinMo 6.5 looks like the best looking and most flexible OS. Android is cool for Google-centric people. The integration of Live Services is better, if not unique, on WinMo. On other platforms you only have Live Messenger and that is it.
Yeh, but the live services are bollocks.
@ L
what does that say about you for commenting on it?
Contrary to you, I don't just post here to annoy people - it's really not that hard to see or understand.
dude this guy is nuts! he reminds me of the the nerd version of...well...i wont dare say it's name but...this thing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yavx9yxTrsw
looks nice.
Sweet another unboxing from this dude! He is so funny. saw a few netbooks a while back and man he is one enthusiastic fellow.
Sweet. But in other news.... there's a GSM Palm Pre on sale..!!!!!1!!1!. holy crap! Can anyone confirm this? ??!
http://www.mobilecityonline.com/wireless/store/productdetail.asp?productid=24551&view=1
Okthnxbai.
Well, there is no ETA for sale date, first of all
and when you go into detailed specs, it says EVDO Rev. A, so not sure if this is really GSM...
Just a pre-order dude
True there's no ETA but it's on sale anyway in the product info it mentioned "AT&T (GSM based) "
so I guess what I wanted someone to confirm should be the price. 899.99 bananas (retail)... really?
Looks very bland. I'm sure Android will one day be a great OS but currently it's all a bit meh.
unacceptably cheap plastic.
Wow it's beautiful in black. Do want.
SPRINT WTF I still feel pain :/
Obviously he's from Germany, but i really want to know, where he got it from. (I really feal his excitement, probably he knows about a much bigger audience this time). Or has he stolen it? Can u see the selfmade tape name-sign on his lumberjack-chemise?
There seem to be bystanders, because u can see camera flashes.
Wonder when it will be launched (no word about htc magic on vodafone.de)
iPhone KIRF no. ???
how is it an Iphone Kirf? becuase it has 6 buttons and a trackball? huh does the iphone have that? hmmm so i guess every phone with an all touch screen is an iphone kirf?: ok i guess i see your logic..... Android tries to be the opposite of iphone, open.... DUMB
This thing makes me hurl man! Compared to the sleek shite HTC comes out with, this looks plain nasty. (In the bad sense)
Android looks a bit cheap and limited in my opinion. Also I get the impression that whole OS is just a bad excuse to market Google's products.
Limited how? And compared to what?
The guy must be on drugs.
So he basically wasted seven minutes without showing the feature most people would like to see. ...... The freaking Onscreen Keyboard.
Imagine that! Bruno likes balls on his chin...
Well... I believe this phone looks good. But the phone being developed for the last qtr of this year will be an adroid hit .. hopefully huweai makes the sexy ass phone a vga led display ... if they come out with that this will be a must buy for me...
i dont think i like the black
Hi all,
most of your questions about the guy, the location and how he got the phone are covered in his blog
http://www.netbooknews.de/4737/video-vodafone-htc-magic-unboxing/
which, however, is German.
The facts: he attended the "mobile barcamp" in Dresden, Germany. Check out http://barcampdresden.mixxt.de/ for more information.
That event was sponsored by Vodafone Germany and Vodafone people where there and gave the attendees the chance to test the phone.
BTW, did anyone find sample pictures and/or vids taken with the HTC Magic so far?
