NES gamepad mouse is the most amazing piece of industrial design in the history of humankind
Apparently as of right now, this stunning piece of high art is just a foam model mock-up, but listen to us, mouse manufacturers of the world: if you build this, we will give you every penny we have to own it. Our only gripe? The D-pad should definitely be up top for navigation duties. Still... where's the waiting list?

It's just staring at me.....creepy....
rzlmlchm009 @ Apr 30th 2009 10:41AM
No, that's the money that you could be saving with Geico
Silvio @ Apr 30th 2009 11:21AM
D-pad on top would break the whole design.
Wwhat @ Apr 30th 2009 12:41PM
Yeah d-pad on top would make it boring and too symmetrical and it would lose impact.
mian @ Apr 30th 2009 1:27PM
Agreed to no dpad on top, but it needs to be moved forward so you can use it comfortably without altering your normal mousing hand position.
BigD145 @ Apr 30th 2009 2:40PM
The d-pad is right where it needs to be: under my thumb. What's missing is a second thumb on my right hand to use the A B buttons.
Loban @ Apr 30th 2009 4:49PM
Agreed. Why in the hell would you want the d-pad on top. It's in the perfect place: right under your thumb for navigation. How are you going to navigate with it on top? With your palm? Your middle finger?
wud_e @ Apr 30th 2009 4:54PM
LMAO@the Gieco Comment! :p
Also I want this!

Here's my credit card.
Ian @ Apr 30th 2009 12:06PM
lol i love how we are all big enough nerds to just love this. i mean think about it, its a mouse. why are we giving it so much attention. that being said i really really really want one too
aj121489 @ Apr 30th 2009 2:53PM
RECESSION ANTIDOTE!
rogerionascimento @ Apr 30th 2009 9:51AM
I want it!
RIFRAF @ Apr 30th 2009 11:43AM
Ditto,, and I like where the Dpad is!
JimboJones @ Apr 30th 2009 9:54AM
looks like bluetooth enabled
quaium @ Apr 30th 2009 9:59AM
The D-pad is fine where it is... why would you want it on top! My thumb sits nicely on the side of the mouse I have right now and with the D-pad there I could navigate so easily!
Felipe @ Apr 30th 2009 9:55AM
Where's the contract to give my soul to own one? And I agree, move the D-Pad to the top for easy scrolling.
brendon @ Apr 30th 2009 10:47AM
I like the D pad there.
D pads were meant to be used with your thumbs, not index or middle finger.
Duncan @ Apr 30th 2009 11:01AM
What if... you put the "start" and "select" buttons on the side where the "D-pad" is and put the "D-pad" on top below the "A" and "B" buttons centered. Then, you'd be able to use the "D-Pad" as your scroll wheel and the "start" and "select" buttons as your "back" and "forward" browser function or a "copy" and "past" function in software like MS Word. Also... add bluetooth functionality.
Peter @ Apr 30th 2009 11:14AM
using the start select buttons as back/forward is fucking genius. now i will only buy one if they do that! my logitec was the first mouse with that feature and it is worth its weight!
TJ @ Apr 30th 2009 11:15AM
Put a non-marked (so as to not ruin the aesthetics) touch strip between the A and B buttons for scrolling. Leave the D-pad where it is.
Erluti @ Apr 30th 2009 11:36AM
I do like the D-pad where it is, but now I want start and select buttons on there. I just don't know anymore!
Felipe @ Apr 30th 2009 12:02PM
maybe the start and select buttons could be placed in position of a scroll wheel and can be later programmed and customized to do other things instead.
suicycle.com @ Apr 30th 2009 1:56PM
What if this was not a traditional mouse? It could have been designed to be like one of those side-mounted trackball controllers -- in which case, the D-Pad is actually controls the mouse pointer and not the back/forward functions of the side buttons on other mice. That being said, getting the D-Pad positioning comfortably correct would be even more important.
@ TJ's - I like your idea of a touch strip for scrolling
Mike @ Apr 30th 2009 4:38PM
Make two models: One with a REAL mousewheel, and one without one.
I can't game without a mousewheel click....unless your "touch strip for scrolling" also has a bubble button beneath it for clicking...then I'll buy it.
loco.ped.admin @ Apr 30th 2009 9:58AM
I will throw out all my mice for this.
Jo-Al @ Apr 30th 2009 9:58AM
so this thing'll end world hunger, right?
Matthew @ Apr 30th 2009 10:40AM
I concur with your assessment, the D-pad should remain where it is currently located. Assuming the mouse is wireless, I will gladly trade the soul of my first born child for this mouse (he is evil and doesn't use it anyway).
NeoJew @ Apr 30th 2009 11:11AM
I don't think that's what he was talking about...
Gipionocheiyort @ Apr 30th 2009 9:58AM
I actually think the D-Pad is in the exact right place. That's where my thumb naturally falls when I use a mouse.
If it were on top I think I'd have to make a claw with my hand to use it one handed.
guyniraxn @ Apr 30th 2009 10:01AM
I agree. Leave it where it is.
Mic2000 @ Apr 30th 2009 10:10AM
Agreed
Rob @ Apr 30th 2009 10:16AM
AMEN!
D-Pad on top would make this thing hella awkward
El Capitan @ Apr 30th 2009 10:21AM
Right o, sir. Keep it there.
Michael @ Apr 30th 2009 10:23AM
I like it on the side, but it looks like it needs to be moved forward a little bit. Maybe it's just that my thumb is long. But curve your hand like you would grasp a mouse and look how close your thumb comes toward the tip of your index finger.
Matthew @ Apr 30th 2009 10:41AM
oops... replied to the wrong comment.

freakishly short thumbs?
JohnTitor @ Apr 30th 2009 12:06PM
Up/Down-scroll, Left/Right-go back/forward

Add a scroll wheel that resembles the start or select button and I'm in.

+1

1Up
EricLMcCormick @ Apr 30th 2009 9:59AM
Still needs a select and start button, then I will buy it
Platinum_Skeet @ Apr 30th 2009 10:14AM
Nah select and start would ruin it.... Nothing needs to be changed
theletterj @ Apr 30th 2009 10:53AM
Ruin it? I suppose you feel that having 99 lives in Contra "ruins" it too?
absinthe party @ Apr 30th 2009 11:32AM
up up down down left right left right B A select start - "An unexpected error has occured."
..arhghhh!!!
Josh @ Apr 30th 2009 12:01PM

Looks as uncomfortable to use as the original. I love the NES as much as anyone else, but damn did it give me some nasty thumb blisters.
