RIM's BlackBerry Curve 8900 hitting AT&T next month?
We're beginning to wonder if we'll ever see RIM's BlackBerry Curve 8900 hit the AT&T airwaves, but considering just how long it takes for a phone to navigate through the carrier's absurdly long certification process, we'll chalk this one up to technical delays. After spotting the so-called Javelin in AT&T attire way back in November of last year, Boy Genius Report now has it on authority that the handset will finally debut next month. Unfortunately for those hoping for a little bonus in exchange for their patience, it's said to be "a mirror" of the T-Mobile version outside of the bundled Bold themes. Pricing details are still under wraps, but if you've waited this long, do the dollars really matter?

Didn't this FIRST come out for T-mobile? Why is At&t offering a downgrade to the Bold?
fail
THIRD!
The size difference between the Bold and this is very negligible.
>> "The size difference between the Bold and this is very negligible."
This is the size of the old Curve... which is smaller than the Bold.
And this one does NOT have have 3G... kinda pointless, if you ask me.
It's actually quite a bit thinner than the old curve.
Also, I think leaving out 3g was a decision made to increase battery life which at 15 days of standby, is considerably better than the bold. And with the addition of wifi, you rarely miss having 3g.
finally. waiting on the 8900 and the e71x. wtf mate?
rogers seems to be getting better at this then AT&T. i would not be surprised all the new sony and nokias will hit the northern carriers first as well.
This is mainly because Rogers is currently the only (real) GSM carrier in Canada, and RIM is a Canadian company, so we get quite a few of their devices first.
This should be a nice upgrade for curve users who don't want to carry around a larger bold but still want a new model blackberry.
The absence of 3G makes me want to cry.
Why do you need 3G for email? That's what 99.9% of people use a BlackBerry for.
yesh dollars really matter!
RIM releasing a new (kinda) phone right in time for Pre and new iPhone... but it lacks 3G?
I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
the fact you think the iphone and pre are somehow special makes me want to cry.
The fact that you post a derogatory comment without a creative retort makes me pity you. Both the iPhone and the Pre are very special phones and he does have a point about the 3G. This phone almost seems like an afterthought.
Sure, but DONT FUCKING SPAM YOUR WEBSITE
I would rather have wifi than 3g, because you can eliminate the cost of a data plan on your bill.
This seems like a good upgrade to my red 8310.
WiFi is great..unless you live nowhere near a free hotspot, like 99% of the people within 200 miles of me. Sorry, but like most people I'll take truly mobile fast internet over being chained to a Starbucks or whatever any day.
It won't erase the data plan because all Blackberry devices still require a data plan, I believe.
Why are you buying a blackberry without a dataplan?
This phone is a no go without 3g for me,I do a lot of surfing and whatnot on my phones but need a good email support. With 3g this phone is in my pocket, without it, its riding pine. Besides, in these times theres no reason to not have both.
Yeah a data plan is expensive for me, and it would become a distraction in life.
It is not really necessary to be checking your emails every 5 seconds (so you can pretend to have a life), in fact it just leads to an addiction and you look like a creepo when you are out with friends and you are constantly playing with your phone.
My next phone will have wifi for sure though.
@ Psycros
I've had this since January and I have to say I _rarely_ miss 3G. The Edge is fast on this (BB compression) and maybe where you live 99% of the people don't have use of WiFi, but there are far people like me who have WiFi at home and at the Office nevermind some spots in between. You know there are municipalities that blanket their downtown with WiFi right? For thos eof us in urban areas this phone is great.
@ moe
I think over 17 million iPhone users might disagree with you. and yes, I do think the Pre will be something special...but I guess the hundreds of positive previews on the phone must be inaccurate also, right?
THE CURVE IS JUST WHAT YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR ALL THIS TIME!

Great, another blackberry. "Yawn"...What's the new number on this one again?
Hah! Cincinnati Bell keeps snagging these things first.
It's available now on AT&T, sent a message to Engadget Friday they still have not posted the news
