Nokia's flagship N97 gets its own website, pre-order link ($699)
If flash animations and S60 5th edition are your idea of a good time then you'll want to head on over to Nokia's new interactive N97 landing page. From there you can get as close as you'll ever get to Nokia's flagship slider with 3.5-inch, 640 x 360 pixel resistive touch-screen display prior to its expected June launch. So go ahead, take 'er for a spin and then hit the newly live pre-order button after you're convinced that this is the smartphone for you. Sure, there's lots of potential June competition out there but take heart: the Android-powered Samsung i7500 lacks a QWERTY, there's no guarantee that a next-gen iPhone will launch in June, and the Palm Pre might be a big fat dud. There, feel better about your choice?
Update: Tipster Chris just let us know that the N97 shows a $699 phone-only price on the "find products" tab over at Nokia USA. That's $6 cheaper than the N96, strangely enough. See screen-grab after the break.
Update 2: Pre-order is go for the US.

Whatever you do, don't pre order from nokia, EVER.
They don't let you cancel your order. You have to refuse the package when ups gets to your house if you want your pre order money back.
And as a nokia user, i'd say wait until the bugs are out, they really can't seem to get anything right on the first try.
My experience of late:
N73 bricked during update
N78 camera zoom and gps failure
N95 speaker failure
E71 speaker failure
And if you don't belive any of that, just check out the laundry list of messed up stuff that has been problems on the 5800.
I don't think the s60 is the problem, i think they don't let enough beta testers have the phones to find the problems before they go public.
I like nokia's, i truely do. And i very well may get a n97 (when the price falls), but if i start reading about all types of issues. I'm getting an iphone and i will wash my hands of them forever.
My n95 (first generation) is still working without any trouble (but the back cover, but i can change it for $20).
And, i am anything but a delicate user.
I've preprdered the N90, N91, N93, N95, E90, and E71.
I have had no issues with any of them. They all work still.
I'm also a very heavy user.
Right now, I'm using the 5800; again, very good.
Sorry to hear that you've had so many issues.
All I can say is that Nokia better have some kick-ass software ready, because the Omnia plays Flash in-browser, and that's something that's definitely CPU-dependent.
The browser in S60 5th plays flash already.
See, this is where the ignorance is blinding a lot of people when it comes to processor power and numbers comparison. The N95, running Symbian s60 v3, has been able to play flash videos in the browser for over a year now, and it has never caused my browser to crash. But now that the Omnia HD comes out with a much higher processor a lot of people are thinking it has to have that for functions that are really not that power-demanding. The Omnia HD records HD video and that's probably the main reason it needs more ram and a higher processor. The N97 on the other hand has a slightly higher processor than the 5800 and the only thing it will do different, software-wise is active homescreen widgets, which are not very demanding (setting your phone to automatically update your email is the same process).
I would be interested in the Omnia HD if it weren't for two reasons:
1. No N.A. 3g
2. I have a 5800 which works fine, and the Omnia HD only offers a larger screen and better video capabilities.
The N97 offers so much more features-wise compared to the 5800. More memory, larger screen, widgets, physical keyboard, compass (which really is useful when navigating on foot)
Oh, and I forgot: Better camera, better processor, kinetic scrolling, and usb charging, oh and the ability to prop it up like a laptop for movie-watching (without relying on the separate stand the 5800 comes with).
Really, the only thing it's lacking is 3d acceleration, but Ngage is dead anyway.
Weird, my responses aren't posting.
I've been trying to say that I didn't think that thae 5800 had FULL Flash support in-browser, that it's limited in some way. I was lead to believe that the Flash on the Omnia is desktop-equivalent.
Also, the Omnia does have one of the NA 3g bands.
Not all flash content plays on the 5800.
Not sure why as I'm no flash expert.
If that's the case, and if the Omnia's browser is fundamentally similar, it probably doesn't play full Flash content, either.
That's disappointing for me, since I was really, REALLY excited about having a compact, fully functioning browser in my pocket.
Free bluetooth headset when you preorder...
I remember the time when nokia was the most respected cellphone manufacturer (at least in Europe, where I lived). They were always just a bit more expensive than other phones but people were willing to pay extra for the great build quality and intuitive interface.
Now, everyone's bashing nokia left and right.
That's bandwagons for ya.
I roll my eyes every time I see someone whine about the 5800 or S60V5 - both of which are nowhere near as bad as people like to make out.
Is there a symbian phone with 800x480 screen?
I am waiting the one to replace my n95-3.
So far the E90 is still superb
Why not nokia use some good panel for their mobile phones... AMOLED would be a good choice,...5Mp camera is more than enough... i use N95 , which take really good photos..
so N97 with capacitive touch screen and AMOLED would be a good enough....
699+free bluetooth earpiece+20% off
20%?
The order form clearly says no coupons or promotions can be applied to the preorder.
