Samsung's 850 PAVV plasma teases the 1-inch thick mark
The plasma industry may be teetering on the edge of certain doom (okay, so maybe that's exaggerating it... a little), but Samsung's still pushing the envelope. Over in South Korea, the company just outed its latest PDPs, the 850 PAVV lineup. Aside from being 40 percent more power efficient, 20 percent lighter and 120 percent more seductive than the prior generation, the new 50- and 58-inch sets also boast DLNA support, a USB 2.0 socket, DivX compatibility and a rather striking stand. The real kicker? The 29 millimeter depth, which equates to just over one inch thick for those who abhor the metric system. There's no word on when these beauties will hit the streets, but we're guessing Panasonic will be keenly interested in knowing.

Sony doesn't make plasma TV's.
I have a Samsung plasma and love it. If I were going to go Samsung v Sony (if they both had a plasma) I would go Sammy. The Sony price is almost always inflated on tv's I think.
Panasonic
I saw this TV in the 58 inch model at an hhgregg store in FL
Its been on display at best buy in california for about a week now
Sony *cant* make plasma tv
I work in a Sears Electronics and that TV is already on display! Still would rather have a 8000 LED!
I'm sure Mark can't help that he is only one inch thick. However that is no reason for Panasonic's plasma to tease him.
*Samsung's. Hmm no edit button.
As long as Panasonic is still producing their VIERA line, there is no reason to even consider a Samsung (LCD or plasma).
What would improve that stand would be if they weren't skanks.
While the Samsung plasma is stunning, I'm not sure if it's more stunning than the two Samsung women posing with sexy bare feet! Samsung proves that you don't have to have fancy heels to look good. Natural-style (i.e. barefoot) can be just as hot. Um, nice TV though.
