Mvix announces Nubbin, world's smallest Wireless N USB adapter

Mvix USA, fine purveyor of all things streaming media, is back on the scene with Nubbin, which it claims to be the world's smallest Wireless N adapter (well, it is small -- we'll give 'em that). Available from May 7 onwards, the Chiclet-esque USB network adapter is backwards compatible with IEEE 802.11n draft 3.0 and IEEE 802.11b/g, and sports up to 150Mbps speeds. Now there's absolutely no excuse to exclude any of your USB 2.0 devices from the media streaming bandwagon. Compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux, this bad boy is yours for a song -- and $39.

hey look! iEye's "belongings" have a new competitor for world's smallest!
best name ever
I would have preferred "Soda."
Do you think we could swap? You could be Mickey!
What a nub.
I always wondered why my GF gave me a pet name of "Nubbin". Grrr. She told me it was a sweet way of saying "Luvvin".
Anyway, that adapter is a terrific device. I can add it to all my older computers that have USB 2.0 ports or cards.
freakin sweet! I've lost count how many times I've knocked the 2" adapter off my laptop. I'll be getting one of these soon.

Buffalo is smaller and already out!
I'm using that right now to post this.
How is the buffalo smaller?
According the the specs of the mvix from their site and the buffalo from the newegg site, the buffalo is a bit thinner but more than a full cm longer and a bit wider.
MVIX: 2.7g 30mm x 14mm x 7mm
BUFF: 3.97g 40.64mm x 15.24mm x 5.08mm

I like it but it also looks like the world's most easiest to lose USB drive with no keyring loop...
I don't get this... is that for the 1% of laptops out there that don't have a built-in wireless adaptor?
Mostly for the older laptops that don't have N. It's really nice for desktops also I bet.
I bought the cheapest laptop in a mall 4 years ago, and even that had wireless... well...
Unfortunately for HP/Compaq owners the wifi card keeps burning up. I've had my motherboard and card replace twice already. I got tired of sending the damn thing in.
For my stupid macbook pro core duo!!
I might buy a bunch of these for the desktops I have at work... PCI wireless cards are so frigging flaky and cost just as much anyway.
Straight away, I would buy three of them... For each of my older 11g machines.
Why do some people always forget that there are others out there who can't afford to upgrade their machines every year?
I have that exact same laptop!!!!!!
lol its a sony.. FTW
OMG LOL!!!!
Why name a wireless N adapter after a 3rd nipple?
Glad I'm not the only one who caught the reference... shame Engadget missed it
I thought it was a Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 reference.
I knew I should sift through the comments before mentioning the reference.
Hopefully they're able to make these adapters smaller to the size of a wireless mouse adapter such as the VX nano. You can still "ding" the usb at this size unfortunately.
Does it come in non WhiteBook flavor?
It's actually 802.1*1*
can i get in Black?
Anyone know if this'll work hooked up to an XBox360?
"Compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux"
do you see "xbox 360" i that list?
XBox360 doesn't support USB wireless adapters. You either have to go with their proprietary adapter ($100) or find a wireless Router that supports DD-WRT.
Who else here watches Sanctuary and is thinking about Nubbins?
"Women and geeks first... oh wait, that's all of us."
I will buy it just for its name - excellent choice!
Will it be compatible with backtrack? packet injection?
I agree. I thought it would be a waste to have one of these for a laptop until the internal airport card on my macbook died and Apple would not repair it. I was thinking about getting the EeePC 1000HE for couch surfing but this seems like a good idea and gets me N network access, too. (My Mac two years old and G band only.)
I'd buy it... I'm running a hackintosh laptop with an atheros adapter that has no native drivers and I cant get it running without rebooting 2 to 3 times, if I'm lucky. If this has mac support in a nice little package... I'm in!
I may get this for my Eee PC 904HA.. and use that internal mini PCIe slot for one of those runcore SSDs.. very tempting.
I know there are some pretty diminutive adapters out there - do these things get decent signal?
Why? The max throughput for USB2 is less then N.
In theory USB 2.0 will go 480mbps so it will cover the 150mbps of this device
I'm sure this will work great considering the a large part of the increase in range and speed of 802.11N is by using multiple antennae that work best the longer and more spaced out they are...
Time to kick out the pci wireless adaptor for desktop pc's?
not new:
