Engadget wins the 2009 EPpy Award for Best Consumer Technology Blog!
As we noted when we heard about our nomination for this award, it's not about the prizes and plaques for us at Engadget. That said, when news came down the line that we'd won the EPpy Award for "Best Consumer Technology Blog," we did feel a pang of pride. It's always nice to be recognized for doing solid work, especially when that work is something you truly love.
We won't bore you with any sappy acceptance speeches, but we will say that we're psyched to be able to bring tech news to you guys every day. Next up for us? We're gonna keep on keepin' on -- and we've got some pretty cool stuff in the works.
Stay tuned... it's going to be an amazing year!

Good job.
Congrats.
congrats
Well come Engadget!
Well come... well done. Same thing right?
It's understandable; after all, the "C" is right below the "D", and the "M" is right beside the "N".
But it sure was funny! :D
Good deal. Gizmodo might have won, except they converted to a blog following President Obama's tech adventures sometime in mid-2008, so I think they were disqualified.
Nice work Engadget!
Or maybe it's just because Gizmodo is pretty much incompetent when it comes to tech? Their editors can't write (except for Brian Lam) and they're all a bunch of Apple fanboys that litter each article with incredible bias. As long as they have fools like Jesus Diaz (his PhotoShop skills are pretty good though) with them, they can only dream of being on the same level as Engadget.
Brian Lam is one of the biggest Apple fanboys of them all, in addition to being a douche. His feelings are easily hurt and he loves to *try* to lay down the ban hammer, which doesn't work as all you have to do is go over his head to get unbanned.
Gizmodo's crew write AND act like a bunch of 14 year olds, so I'm gonna say no.
Gizmodo covers a wider range of events/gadgets and some of them are not tech related. Engadget stays focused on tech and tech events. They most definitely deserve this award. Sometimes I do enjoy the tech derived stories on Gizmodo, but I always go to Engadet first. I never post "first" to fail though.
we should paste a link to this lil thread on their site. itll tear them apart, ahahahahahaha...um... yea....
celebration party in NYC? yes?
Congrats! Well deserved...
... keep up the great work.
You deserve to win this award. Congrats.
Josh, I hope you're wearing a tweed jacket.
Hooray for Engadget!
Nice work!
congrats, engagdy!!!
Maybe Joystiq could learn a thing or two from this. Maybe learn to edit their posts before posting.
Really? Find me an egregious example from today where a post went up on Joystiq needing editing.
They're all good writers, lot of their staff just need to quit being fanboys.
Well, since you did ask, Chris...
Looking through today, I saw nothing obvious. That said, it does not absolve the site from my accusation. There HAVE been significant editing issues. The most recent example I can was this week's "Now Playing." Yeah, it may seem like a good joke, but it's not only annoying that you intentionally mistitle this week's edition "Not Playing," it disregards some actual big releases this week (i.e., Broken Steel, the Wolverine game, etc.). Then there are some of your own articles which I have seen as being horrendously written, in particular your interview series with the founder of OnLive.
I respect that you actually took me to task, not to mention that I can understand web publications having looser standards. But seriously, having your work proofread, if not by yourself then by someone else (be it a full-fledged copy editor or even an intern), would make a major difference. Write what you want to write, but at least make it READABLE.
(apologies if this looks like a repeat, Engadget's comment system is getting all finicky again)
grats
too bad u didn't lose, woulda been a good incentive to get a real comment system
Stop being such a rebel, and a douche.
Congrats! You (all of you who represent Engadget) are awesome.
Congrats to engadget and all the commenters that really make it what it is!
Woohoo!!! Congrats!! Screw you jizzmodo!
Congrats from Germany to you Josh & the team! You truly deserve it.
Congrats
You're an idiot.
Why the hell wouldn't they post an award they won.
This comment makes no sense when its not connected to the comment you replied to. haha
It seems the original comment he was replying to has been removed...
when they write articles about how great engadget is, they remove all the coments which are negative. take it like men, there are always two opinions.
YAY!!!
You really deserve it.
Congratulations
I can't wait to show this post to all my friends who hate Engadget!
