Survey finds Nintendo to be the most reputable game company
It's fresh from celebrating the Game Boy's twentieth birthday and solid sales of the DSi, but it looks like Nintendo already has some more good news to boast about, with the Reputation Institutes's annual survey finding that it is by far the most reputable game company around, and the sixth most reputable company overall. That ranking is made all the more impressive by the fact that Nintendo apparently wasn't even in the top 200 in last year's list, and by the fact that it's the only strictly gaming company on the list at all, although Microsoft and Sony come in at 30 and 126, respectively. Hit up the read link below to check out the complete rankings.

i love the fact that this is so when Nintendo hasn't put out an original idea for a game since Pokémon (original Pokémon, not the latest periwinkle blue versions or whatever). how many times is Mario going to get his girl stolen by a giant fire-breathing turtle?
and don't get me started on Zelda...
No please, lets talk Zelda. I want to know your thoughts on one of the best game series of all time
One thing I have to point out is that Nintendo does things differently than most companies these days. Where a lot of developers will create a NEW story around the same game mechanics, Nintendo uses the same characters and story lines to create new ways to play the game--and isn't that what we do with games....Play? If Nintendo wanted to they could release a hundred new Mario or Zelda titles in a generation, but they wait until they have a new mechanic ready to release a new title.
I probably play my PS3 more than the Wii--BUT--I have a far greater respect for Nintendo than any other company out there.
It's a bit ridiculous about how any news article devolves into fan flamebait. The article is about a survey for Nintendo and it's reputation with customers. What this has to do with whether or not microsoft or sony have better game consoles completely baffles me; that's not what the topic is even about.
I think the fact they basically invented video games, and darn good ones at that (I still my Super Nintendo often), probably contributes to this.
Nintendo isn't strictly a videogame company, they started out making playing cards, and they still make pokemon cards, and other weird things in Japan, look it up.
I'm not a huge handheld gamer, but a DS Lite with an R4 card is worth the investment.
Obviously.
MS = Business Software
Sony = Electronics...
Nintendo = Games
And Apple? Just kidding, nothing better to do.
So Nintendo to videogames is as Toyota is to cars.
I've always loved my Nintendo favorites.
This is true. Too bad the same thing can't be said about the Wii.
so much hate on Nintendo. The company who brought back video games in the 80's. The company who was synonymous with console games. The company who gave birth to Playstation (in regards to the fact sony was developing a SNES disk drive that would go on to be the PSX after negotiations on the deal fell apart). The N64 held it's own, and yea the GCN was a failure. The wii however has brought Nintendo back into the spotlight and reclaimed the sales title.
This arbitrary definition of "fun" you all seem to want to throw around is meaningless; fun in a subjective term not an objective one. Not everyone's definition is running around and blowing stuff up, mugging hookers, and lighting people on fire. I for one love booting up left 4 dead, blowing the living hell out of zombies, and then am quite content to go run around in Animal Crossing.
Gaming wouldn't be what it is today w/o Nintendo, and you all haters need to stop pushing your view of fun onto others, because your idea of fun is not absolute.
So if Nintendo never came out, we wouldn't have the consoles we have now? Wow.
OK, nintendo is legit, but that list is totally ballz. Half of those companies I haven't even heard of. How do you rate something like that? What the heck is Ferrero?
Kidding right? They make:
Ferrero rocher
Tic Tacs
Kinder
Nutella
What about Nintendo's "reputation" for consistently coming in LAST PLACE in Greenpeace's greener electronics guide year after year after year http://www.greenpeace.org/international/news/guide-greener-electronics-8-edition-250608
Even the Wii doesn't meet Energy Star standards.
Nintento might make some "fun" gadgets and be making bucket loads of cash, but they don't seem to care how they destroy and pollute the environment while they do it.
Irresponsible and self-serving are two words that spring to mind.
The reason they always come in "last place" is because they refuse to release numbers/info to Greenpeace about their processes, so instead of just not listing Nintendo, it is put at the very bottom of the chart as some stupid form of retaliation for not cooperating.
Isn't Greenpeace a terrorist group?
Nintendo totally ROCKS. Always has and always will!

Just really quick...
Nintendo is a 100+ year company that has been in the video game industry since 1977.
Sony is a 50+ year company that has been in the video game industry since 1994.
Microsoft is a 30+ year company that has been in the video game industry since 2001.
Their reputations aren't just based off of age, of course.
BTW, Gunpei Yokoi invented the Virtual Boy, whom you should show some damn respect for. It may have been his downfall, but his lineage is great.
He also invented the Game and Watch series, the GAMEBOY, and produced the Metroid games.
R.I.P.

The section on , "Lateral Thinking of Withered Technology" is a HUGE, HUGE reason Nintendo still stands strong today.

Geez I'd like to believe this list is anything but complete rubbish, but, they have Ikea at number 2, Tata at 11, LG at 51 and Apple at 52.
I guess it is something about how you define "reputable" !
Pepsi at 46, Coke at 79 ... things that make you go "hmmmmm".
for the record, you guys rip on Haier every time they come out with a new product...and you didn't even mention that they're # 34 on this list. Yeah, that's right, I'm a Haier fanboi - the one and only.
