Roomba's journey shown to be endless, beautiful
We've always suspected our Roomba was actually performing a complex dance loaded with hidden meaning and bewitching charm instead of just bouncing around, and now we've got proof -- check out this long-exposure shot of a Roomba's path over 30 minutes. You can see the initial spiral path in the center, but after that it's a free-for-all that somehow manages to cover the entire room. Now if someone would just make a high-speed video set to the Benny Hill music, we'd be all set.

Hey Nate,
1) The site is linked from MY (paid) flickr account.... thanks.
2) The comic now has a way to view it larger when you click on it. Thanks for the input.
3) Regarding the comments, I'm no expert, but I'm doing what I can to fix it. It's the pingbacks that are killing me

:cough:
Uploaded two months prior to this. Not sure how he made his Roomba's LED stay orange, when it fades from green to red to show battery level.
Here is a Roomba vid set to Benny Hill, it's been on youtube for months. That's my dog.

Glad to hear it's your dog.
Videoing a stray dog chase your Roomba would be creepy.
That was awesome! I shall abuse this video this coming week, till my cowokers go bonkers on me.
Who knew Roomba could be this artsy.
I bet that sensor got pretty warm. Just use the bulb setting I assume.
Try three hours: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jfennell/299741934/
No need to worry about heating up the sensor on modern DSLR's.
Long exposure photos don't cause the sensor to heat up, unless you are pointing it at the sun or something...
roomba will always be a waste of money to me. it takes like 10 mins of my day to vacuum. no wonder people are fat
I think they're fat from eating.
But you're right, vacuuming burns a shitload of calories. Really.
Stupid question:
Why isn't the Roomba in any of the photos?
Looks like it probably went out of the picture at the bottom to go back to its charging station..
Doesn't matter, the camera caught the light on top, and other objects in the room. why not tor Roomba itself?
The roomba was constantly moving and wasn't lit well enougth for it to show up on the picture, if helps to understand the physics behind how a long exposure photo works to get it i suppose.
The reason the room can be seen is because the room wasn't moving, the tiny amount of light from the Roombas LED was lighting the room and after a duration of 40 min, the camera had taken in all that tiny amount of light and the image of the room was exposed into the photo. Argh its hard to explain but hope that helps.
Got it. Thanks
On the right side there is a spot where it crossed 4 times. Is that the center of a section the roomba maps or just a coincidence?
Yakety Saks!
my god, it's full of stars!
Nice!

You need to visit The BennyHillifier! Any youtube video you want, set to the Benny Hill theme. Including roomba:

I also recommend car crash footage, priceless!
I have one. It really kicks up dust before it picks it up. I can't stay in the room with it.
It has yet to pick up a piece of cellophane, but I'm always impressed at what it does pick up, like a cough drop I left on the floor.
It made a pet of a plastic water bottle, pushing it around the room for 30 minutes, after it knocked it out of the corner where I put my recyclables.
I think it is attracted to wires because of it electrical wireing to find its way home. I don't have a home for it.
These seem to be the same build of robots that usually won the robot fights on tv. They took the fights from my network area, so I'm fine just having one in my home ramming its head into the walls driving my neighbors crazy wondering what the heck it is.
Did I mention once I got mine I figured out what the noise was from a neighbors?
It's not Benny Hill you dumb fuck. It's Yakety Sax, but you're too stupid to know that.
To me it seems more people that know that are stupid, since they must be intensely interested in either benny hill or lousy 'music' :)
Not that benny hill didn't have a few good jokes once in a while, and gave the non-censored world's old generation the sex-dance stuff to enjoy (probably all cut in the US and probably still is), but that stuff is so ancient, the guy himself died like what? 10-20 years ago, of old age I think.
The patterns.....this means something.
Funny, that's exactly the pattern you would see if your dog took a dump and roomba tried to clean it up
I was thinking of getting one but could someone please enlighten me; some say it can replace your normal vaccum cleaner, but how do you do your stairs if they're carpetted??
That looks like the tracks left by particle accelerator images:

Only in that it's lines.
An area that small would take like 20 seconds to vacuum. I feel like the only practical use of a roomba is for modding, it probably took that thing like an hour to clean that room.
"An area that small would take like 20 seconds to vacuum."
Correct. And with a roomba, it would cost you 0 seconds, because you're not doing the vacuuming.
"it probably took that thing like an hour to clean that room."
Why does that matter? You don't have to operate it for an hour.
So why doesn't the roomba show up in the shot?
Now if someone would just make a high-speed video set to the Benny Hill music, we'd be all set.
I SHALL DO THIS...IN HIGH DEFENITION
