If it were Europe I know I'd look for some prepaid data. Is there anything similar offered by American carriers? A MiFi or a data SIM that I can tether from would work, but I'm trying to maintain a tight budget. Help!"
The touchstone is a great idea in theory but the convenience is outweighed by the price and decreased portability.

...and the fact that you've got to stick something to the back of your phone in order for it to work.
You don't have to "stick" something on, you just change to a different battery cover which is the exact same size and shape as the other one... it's just matt instead of gloss...

Sounds like another benefit to me.
Yeah, I'd rather have the "soft-touch" style back than the slippery shiny one. the problem is it then doesn't match the rest of the device, but it's personal preference.
But after obsessing over what the phone looks like, you put a cover on it anyways. What's the point?
