Microsoft's latest ad: iTunes and the iPod are crazy expensive
We've been wondering when we'd see the next Laptop Hunters ad from Microsoft, but it looks like the company's throwing a change-up: its latest 30-second spot features Wes Moss, Certified Financial Planner, explaining that iTunes "costs a lot" while Zune Pass "costs a little." The argument, of course, is that at a buck a song (or more), filling up your iPod costs way more than the $15 / month cost of the Zune subscription service, but we've got a feeling that Wes just won't convince as many people as Lauren and Giampaulo -- while we certainly think Zune Pass is a great deal, especially with the 10 free tracks a month now included, most people have plenty of music from all kinds of sources already, and an additional monthly bill in the current economy doesn't seem all too appealing. Plus, well, this argument has never really worked for services like Yahoo and Rhapsody in the past, so we're not sure it's going to work now. But that's just us -- we're sure you've got your own opinions, so check out the vid after the break and sound off.
P.S. If Wes looks familiar it's because he was a contestant on Donald Trump's The Apprentice. He was fired.

Can you guys PLEASE add expand/collapse functionality to these comment replies? The first page has TWO comments addressing the original article. The rest seem to be fanboy argument back and forth.
I use mine for podcasts more than anything. Doesn't cost an extra penny....
who needs any of them... i got my ipod & iphone filled with everything i want to see and hear.
And unlimited copies and duplication (no DRM baby!)
who do i thank for? my friends, the irc (good ol' faithful), and code name RS, FF, MU :P
i got another alternative, use lime wire and save all that money
The subscription is all good if you download 15+ songs in a month but if not, its kind of pointless.
Yeah they forgot Zune=PC=money. Microsoft wants switchers, they should make zune for mac.
Ok, This argument of 30K dollars to fill an ipod is nothing more than a way to shock people who buys music on itunes.
But, nobody really buys more than a couple hundred songs on itunes. So, you should spend about $ 200 to have your preferred songs, although using Microsoft zune pass you may have all your preferred 200 songs in one day, spending $ 14 a month, but to own your 200 songs you must sign the zune pass for 20 months, or 280 dollars. So the question is: Do you want to buy almost 50% more in the end to have the right to listen the music you want right now?
Its funny! If you say something bad about apple, people get pissed!! LOL
I'm glad to see microsoft is taking initiative in truly selling their products. I feel like until now, they have been so unnecessarily lax with the Zune, despite the second gen being all quality products. Honestly, until the Zune HD comes out and we see just how good it is, the iPod Touch is miles ahead of the Zune. The 80 and 120 Zunes are much better products than the iPod classic, and the 4 and 8 gb's are just as good as their iPod competitors. But the iPod Touch is so unique, and has truly earned the attention it's received.
I still prefer my Zune to just about anything (And the Zune software is incredible, too), but Apple is still king for now. Although really, it doesn't matter to me as long as Microsoft keeps making the Zune.
