Clarion MiND price falls nearly 50 percent, makes beeline for cereal boxes
Hey, industry -- are you seeing this? People just aren't that into MIDs, sorry! Nary eight months after Clarion's Atom-powered MiND MID went on sale for the not-at-all-seductive price of $649.99, the evidently undesirable device has dropped to around $350. Right now on Amazon, the red and white units are priced at $342.83 and $360.87, respectively, while the black version is still holding its value just a wee bit better. Unfortunately, something tells us this thing is on the REDFLY plan, which should put it within a cheap plastic bag in your Frosted Flakes by the year's end.

I always find it funny when you guys link to mobile and the articles always have 2 or 3 comments. Even on the really nice articles.
(heated debate really increases comments).
Not the best looking MID either.
Damm, if these things ever got under 300, I might have to pick one up.
Now i'm off to see some reviews on these suckers.
still costs more than a netbook, and is worse than an ipod touch or iphone because it has few apps and limited capabilities.
I'd say it would be worth considering under $200
Few Apps? What part about being a MID don't you understand? The it runs XP and Linux Part ? Since when did Windows have fewer apps then an iPhone. Same goes for limited capabillities. It's a PC. PC >> iPhone or iPod touch when it comes to capabillities and applications, that is unless you want to pull out my 75mhz Packard Bell, but that is just unfair. Take your Apple-hugger ass back to Cupertino. And stay off the internet. There's enough Zak's and PAC Man's on here already.
Not sure where you're getting your info, can you link to where it says it runs XP and Linux? Cant find any info about the software on the read link :[ . Plus I thought atom cant run x86 applications... Please back up your claims with sources.
THEKorean, how about you and chambo622 try that first?
Atom = same chip in all the Netbooks. Are you going to tell me they don't run XP and linux ?
Just because I'm not a complete moron here, I'll link you the wikipedia article on it. READ THE FIRST FRIGGING SENTENCE. Honestly, how hard is to google basic info before you ask a stupid question?

@THEKorean
Uh, wtf? Atom processor can't run x86? That's why pretty much every single netbook has an atom processor right? Cause it can't run x86 and thus can't run windows.
/s
My point is: it's capabilities are limited out of the box. Windows would cost $100 more, and the use of it or Linux is likely undocumented and unsupported by the manufacture.
@Shyman: I am not an Apple-hugger, and in fact I don't own any Apple products! Way to jump to a conclusion.
Chambo622, not only did you botch my REAL name as if it were some sort of play on words, you jumped the gun first. How about doing some actual research before you start spouting lies? Wait, if you did, you wouldn't be spouting straight up crap.
1.) It's capabillities are not limited out of the box. It does more then an iPhone, out of the box. How is that limited? If that's the case all consumer electronics are limited and you should stfu because you're luddite living in a cave waiting for HAL to come take over the world.
2.) IT RUNS LINUX YOU DUMBASS. Honestly, how hard is to R.E.A.D.
I don't think I need to say anymore to make you look like a complete moron, since you did a damn good job all by yourself. Stay off the internet.
ZOMG APPS MUST HAVE MORE APPS ::downloads lightsaber::
::sniffs own fart::
If this particular product was anything to write home about, I'd worry about that sector. But talking about this as an indicator of the MID market is like talking about the Yugo and the compact auto market.
I wish I could find something that sold for over $300 in my cereal box...
How the hell did you get on my internets?
Did someone let this guy out of /b/?
Mids need to hit that price point of a little more expensive than a PMP, but cheaper than a Netbook. I think they are only suffering because of the economy. The big problem with all of these is they aren't marketed and widely available like a netbook. I haven't seen any Mids in physical stores and lets face it people still like to look and touch the devices they are going to buy. Netbooks are available everywhere now.
1.3 hours of usage on a single charge???
I'm pretty sure thats with GPS usage and BT ON. But my cell phone(touch pro) manages to get over 2 hours of continuous GPS, BT, and Data Usage.
A netbook costs $300-$400. This MID is cool it does the same thing as a netbook but smaller and has a nav with it.
