I recall reading somewhere that it's "causing some problems for some people." Lovely. Wonder how Megan is going to take to that infrequent ED the Mac has.
Apple users work for their computer, Windows users work with their computer, and Linux users work on their computer. That's pretty much how it works. Personally the only viable alternative to Windows is Linux because it's so versatile. If I was an over entitled kid who wanted a computer without needing one I'd get a Mac so I can surf the web and use the built in software to make youtube videos no one will watch. I hate working on Macs at work, and only one type of person in the entire Biomedical Research Facility uses Apple products… I’ll stop there so I don’t get flamed.
Ya cause you know that it wasn't a big headache for all those MBA overheating or how about the video issues that also plauged the macbooks. Hmm. Reliable? Nothing is reliable.
Linux still isn't ready for everyone else. I've just recently given it a real shot and it's been pretty fun, and I'm enjoying learning more about it (monkeying around in the console reminds me of my beloved DOS days). But I would never recommend it to someone even less savvy than myself because using Linux requires too many compromises and, even worse, the number of people qualified to offer technical support approaches zero relative to those who could help with Windows or OSX. You have to give up too much, including software or hardware you may initially fail to realize you will need down the road, if a beginner chooses Linux as their sole OS.
at least MS doesn't lie in their commercials. they even complimented the macs on their good looks. i don't have a problem with people using macs, i have a problem with Apple for their slanderous and generally wrong advertisements. they cause people who don't know any better to get tricked into buying something they may or may not want, and then go on to spread the same FUD.
for instance, one of my friends was looking to get a new laptop, and another friend told him he should get a mac. i asked why. "because macs are awesome," he said. "you'll never have any problems." ugh. i just don't get how Apple is so good at brainwashing people.
basically, i want people to get macs because they feel it's right for them, not because Apple told them it is.
From experience I agree that Macs Crash, however Macs also Smoke. I have never had my PC Smoke; Pop, Fizzle, refuse to turn on, randomly turn off, and occasionally wheeze, but never Smoke.
Price was not an issue for them. Microsoft PAID for the laptops in every commercial. They were simply given an artificial budget by Microsoft with which to find a computer.
Price was the issue for Microsoft, not the consumer.
PCs do most certainly smoke from time to time, for the exact same reason Macs sometimes do, or for that matter, an XBox, or Playstation, router, home theater receiver, television, or microwave sometimes do.
The device is aimed at gamers and TV watchers, generating a 3D image with use of a pair of 0.7-inch OLED panels, which each display separate images, doing away with the ghost imagery that often comes along with 3D displays.

I love my Macbook and all, but it has crashed, frozen and in general been about as reliable as my old Windows laptop. Which is still pretty reliable.
But I understand this is advertising. Still, SBBoD is just as annoying as BSoD.
GAH, you can't say that both crash...you have to take one side or the other.
HOW DARE YOU INSINUATE THAT MACS CRASH!!!!! [/sarcasm]
I like how they completely avoided the whole point of the microsoft ads, price was the biggest issue for the consumers.
So, that 10.5.7 update... How's that going?

Install Linux, problem solved

Amen to Linux!

@nerdtalker: Welcome to the #1 cause of arguments: differing, yet often orthogonal, perspectives.

@AI
Linux is pretty awesome! Know why? 'Cause it's built on UNIX. Mac and Windows can shove it.
What? Mac is built on UNIX too?! F*^#!
