Guitar Hero 5 makes room for four drummers, axe slingers or screamers
Alright, so you know Guitar Hero 5 is on the way -- that's all fine, well and good. But, did you realize that the birth of that game will also enable you to destroy your den by making room for four drum kits? Yes, we're serious. GH 5 promises any kind of musician mix 'n match you can dream up, enabling gamers to play with three singers and a drummer, four bassists (imagine someone cloning Sting and replacing the other Police with artificial Stings) or four skin slammin' drummers. With possibilities this endless, you know things are bound to get savage.

Damn it, not another one. I hate getting new roommates who think Guitar Hero/Rockband is the shits.
your roommate is correct
i have to agree with kaitian
rofl- i had two roommates like that. i hated both equally. what really sucked was when we had a lan party, and they got everyone to play crappy xbox game instead of computer games??
four drummers? Can you say Guitar Hero: Slipknot???
They can finally put in Spinal Tap's "Big Bottoms" now that you can have three bass players.
Thank god they could spot the weak link in this game (other than the time wasted that you could put into learning an actual instrument).
Hint: Time spent on anything but playing an actual instrument is time that could be spent learning to play an actual instrument.

And by the way, are you against playing any video games whatsoever? Time spent playing an FPS is better spent learning how to shoot a real gun. Time spent playing GranTourismo is better spent racing other people on the roads.
So obviously you're against playing any video game right? Otherwise you'd be hypocritical right?
Yes, but while watching TV, going to a Monster Truck rally, attending a pie eating contest, burying your grandmother, and playing Guitar Hero are wastes of time; only one of them is a ridiculous exercise in make believe.
Well... maybe TV but you need that to play Guitar Hero anyway.
I think maybe if you played a real instrument you wouldn't make the mistake of thinking Rockband is anything like it. I play several instruments, guitar included. I no more pretend I'm in a band while playing Rockband than I pretend I'm Master Chief when I play Halo.
@Canadian Bacon
CHECKMATE! I am booking my flight for the Ukraine right now so I can build a Vault and live out Fallout 3 the best way I know how. I will go build my lock pick and barter skills for real. I hope I can find the Vampire's Edge there. I may be able to do some Call of Duty 4 since I'll be in the earea. Thank you for making me realize that all video games are inferior to their real life counterparts.
I present this: For the cost of Rock Band, you can probably get a Fender Squire and some shitty amp, play a local art house and find dumb girls to have sex with. In the particular instances of Guitar Hero and Rock Band, I can't understand the cost and space requirements vs actual instruments.
god, can we put this argument to rest already.... i don't care who wins, i just want some peace while i'm playing rock band.
Chad,
Hint: Time spent reading a blog and commenting on its posts could be well spent doing something productive as working, reading, exercising, searching for a partner of the opposite sex, or doing some homework.
Not that I'm against reading Engadget and posting some irrelevant comments.
And related to this awesome news.
It could probably be a great improvement and opportunity for:
Rhythm guitar and Lead guitar
Vocals and backing vocals
Just to name a couple...
@whowhatme
I will provide that rest. I apologize for letting a stock Rock Band argument erupt. I acknowledge that is a new and inventive way to sell peripherals and expand to previously unreached demographics. It is an excellent product that people enjoy.
Let's enjoy our Friday and I promise to never speak ill of Rock Band or similar ilk ever again.
@chad
Should we all stop listening to music until we all learn to play a musical instrument? These games are just a fun way of interacting with our music.
Your argument (go learn an instrument, blah, blah, blah, I can play multiple blah, blah, blah instruments) is short sighted, especially if you really want people to learn how to play an instrument. The guitar stores around here have finally realized that games like Rockband and Guitar Hero don't take away sales, they can potentially lead to more sales of musical instruments. You know some of these kids might actually get interested in music because of being exposed to this game.
@Chad
That has to be the most worn-out argument ever. I can't believe anybody's still using it. Maybe you should upgrade to the latest version :P
But seriously, you're like the world's biggest downer, the most un-fun person ever. People just want to have fun playing these rock video games and here you are, telling them that fun is STRICTLY VERBOTEN! You're so uptight and smug with your "I can play a REAL instrument while all you guys are just posers" rant. Go sit in the corner far away while the rest of us have fun.
And congratulations on winning Most Obvious Statement Ever with your entry "playing guitar is nothing like Rock Band". Glad you clarified that! I was just about to go out and buy a real guitar and ALMOST got a fake plastic one instead, thanks for the heads-up! :)
@everyone who is hating on Chad:
He's not making the argument you think he's making. He's refuting it.
@BREDS, @Mike,
Reading comprehension is your friend.
@everyone talking about Chad:
I don't know if Chad meant it or not, but his comment is good and funny.
Ash commented about the old line: Any time spent playing Guitar Rock Band Hero could be spent learning to play an actual instrument.
Chad retorted: Time spent on anything but playing an actual instrument is time that could be spent learning to play an actual instrument.
He didn't say you *SHOULD* learn to play real instruments, just that the argument itself is moot. Any time a coin flip doesn't land heads, it lands tails.
Guitar Hero and Rockband are getting way out of hand. IMO They are starting to lose their luster and i really am bored with them all.
What did Rock Band do? I haven't heard of anything for RB3.
There's rumors floating around about a Rock Band themed after that one band, what's their faces?
BEETLES.
FAIL SSLEE52 it's Beatles, "beetle" is the bug. And I'm pretty sure they were being sarcastic.
@ aj: Beetle is also the Bailey...but maybe you're too young to remember that ;)
Finally. Fear Factory, here we come!
I can barely contain my excitement...............................because it is so small that I can't find it and put in any kind of containment unit.
"or four skin slammin' drummers"
lol, four skin
Ouch! I'd rather not have my "four skin" slammed!
I had that exact response.
I'm glad that online play should be enabled - because we'd all have to play in different rooms in the house to fit. :P
4 x GIRL DRUMMERS = FEEDER "COME BACK AROUND" Video :) Awesome
Having watched the video, I don't know why they had four girl drummers, since they all seemed to be playing the same part.
And, indeed, if playing exactly the same part is all four drummers would get to do in GH5, then this feature is a lot less exciting than it could be.
The Police were a three piece... unless you're counting Sting and Sting's ego as seperate band members.
+1
Feeder "Come back Around"
Just another gimmick to get people to buy it.
Actually, quite a brilliant gimmick, since now they are conning everyone into buying 4 drum sets, 4 mics, and 4 guitars (most of these peeps probably already have 4 anyways)... That's where they make the money, on all the peripheral contraptions
Much like other features consumer products have!
OR its giving you the freedom to play the game however you want which is what MORE video games should be doing!
increase profits, now you will have to buy 4 $200 sets, congratulations you have never wasted more money on one game system in your entire life.
Gosh... I always thought this game's for the wannabes or band rejects....
...Apologies. That was meant to be a reply to the comment above, "Just another gimmick to get people to buy it"
this makes no sense, what will the game sound be like? I mean, when some people made the hit on nodes and some dont?
If they double/triple/quadruple the instrument track based on how many instruments of that one then maybe, but not really sure how good that will sound if there ever are 4 drumsets.
Otherwise, if it's just 1 guitar track, then it will most likely play through flawlessly and mess other people up, I would presume.
Is just me or Guitar Hero becoming the Eee PC of video games?! How the heck did we reach Guitar Hero 5 already?! SERIOUSLY?!
If you cloned 4 stings you'd still have a tight pocket groove without any flash. Each one would just play successively less.
So, the last one would be like this guy: http://www.lisamertins.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/multiplicity80.jpg
That probably will cost $300 - $500, most home simply don't room for all those dums, they need to make them more portable and easy to assemble.
