Just try to wrap your minds around this, Harmony / PS3 owners: this weekend is the last weekend that your otherwise awesome universal remote won't be able to power on your otherwise awesome Blu-ray / media player. Wild, we know. Logitech's heralded
Harmony Adapter for PlayStation 3 -- which converts the IR blasts coming from your Harmony-branded
remote to Bluetooth signals that the console understands -- is now shipping. You can pretty much take your pick of e-tailers, but the read link leads to a sweet 10 percent off promotion that'll save you a few bones compared to buying from Amazon. Whatever the case, the MSRP is $59.99, so feel free to track down the best deal in all your free time.
Got mine yesterday. Works like a charm. dead simple to setup.
Got mine yesterday. Setup was easy (but not necessarily fast because you haev to re-add your PS3 as a device and run through the activities setup for it). Strangely, on my first try, the power on and off didn't work. I resync'ed without really changing anything and then suddenly it worked.
Weird.
Also, does anyone know why it's so important to remove the PS3 device and re-add it? When I read this, before getting the product, I thought Logitech updated their database or there'd be a new firmware update but I don't think there was neither. What does the removal accomplish?
Sony, please just add IR to the PS3. That can't cost more than $1!
I got mine and a Harmony 880 remote. This rocks.
For all the fools that say "just ad IR to the PS3", just remember, some of us place our PS3's inside a cabinet for aesthetics.
Overpriced for a remote that is already expensive. Especially when perfectly functional Bluetooth remotes cost less than 1/3 of that.
Sorry, overpriced accessory to a remote that is already expensive. (Which I have BTW.)
thats freakin sweet
Recession antidote, damn't!
shame it's US only at the moment... so UK users still have no product to use.
If I already have a $14 ps3 remote how will this benefit me?
You're a douchebag if you're paying $60 to be this damn lazy.
I'm sure old-timers said similar about the microwave, remote control and washing machine at one time, too ;)
glad i have a 360. $400 for a machine that can't even be controlled by THE universal remote of universal remotes...
Does this work for other universal remotes?
i got the Philips Pronto
To buy or not to buy. I think I will wait a month or two anyway to see if there is any price drop on Amazon after early adopter tax period ends. I've dealt with the extra PS3 remote for a while, so I can wait a bit longer.
Can someone tell me how good it is in terms of fast forward, rewind, etc, when in use with a blu ray, streaming vide, or whatever?
