Panasonic's Lumix DMC-GH1 produces sample shots and videos galore
Panasonic's Lumix DMC-GH1 has already shown off its visual prowess a time or two before, but the eagle-eyed photogs over at DPReview have finally hosted up a cornucopia of sample shots and videos for those still unsure if a Micro Four Thirds camera is right for them. And hey, even those cats obviously understand a little tongue-in-cheek humor, wouldn't you say? Tap the read link for the full array of goods.

*obligatory put-down for claiming first post*
I'm going to get rich and famous when I patent an auto-ban for people who post firsties.
Unfortunately DPreviews's footage is sub-par compared to what's floating around. It's truly an amazing camera for video...

@ Temple. You are just as much a troll, just a sneakier. Stop replying to the first comment so you think that we will all see your opinion. It's not all about you. No one cares. -1.
@yopladas
Stop back-seat modding. The sneakiest of them all. Hypocrite. It's not all about you. No one cares. -1.
Temple seems to be right too.
Bellevue Square is 5 minutes away from my home. It's been the mall of choice for years in my family. :)
I know someone who works at that Red Robin too, haha.
Refreshing to see local stuff. :D
Same here. I work downtown Bellevue and have visited the kits camera store quite a few times.
Everything was quite expensive and the people working there weren't too helpful, actually they were kinda arrogant, especially the guy who tried to tell me to buy a Sony dSLR instead of a Canon or Nikon,
Yea, Bellevue Square! A few miles away from my house. Seattleite here. I'll go and check it out.
Wait, Bellevue, WA, like 10 mi. from Seattle?! I stopped at the Macys there to get a new shirt after one for a ketchup stain... lol.
Never saw any camera store, but I saw an Apple store...
I was just at the Ritz Camera at Bell Square earlier today. They're pretty much cleaned out
I was just there today too hoping to see if I could score a lens for my new T1i. Too bad all they had left was rubbish.
Same here
Yeah - the Ritzs in Minnesota went out of business a few weeks ago. there were some good deals - even though they are typically way overpriced.
I cant stand how much I want this camera, and how unable I am to buy it. Maybe if I sell a few of the cameras I have now....damn it, why is the grass ALWAYS greener....and why don't I ever listen to the "good things come to those who wait" saying.
save your money and wait for next year's model... That's my plan.
I think the lens need to improve a bit. Nice camera, but I hope they provide more variety on micro-four third lenses. ie. Some better/sharper lens will be nice. Overall, nice camera.
Well besides the 7-14mm ultra wide, there is a 20mm f1.7 pancake and 45mm f2.8 macro in development. And whatever Olympus launches alongside their µ4:3 body will be compatible with the GH1 too.
I'm not impressed with the video at all. Very jerky. Their samples look like they were recorded at around 15 fps.
I thought this thing was supposed to do 1080p at 30fps.
Thanks to Temple and the links he listed above, I can see the video is really good on this cam.
I don't know what DP Review did, but their video samples are garbage. (Not what I'd expect from them).
The sample shots are also all outside in bright light, nice enough but uhm.. some inside shots too perhaps?
Overall it's not bad though although throwing over a sharpening filter is clearly advisable IMHO.
Definitely not a DSLR competitor really, unless the problems can be overcome with a better lens or the RAW format perhaps (does it support RAW?).
@Wwhat Unlike any other camera out right now, its a DSLR competitor without even being a DSLR. They will likely have some incredible lenses once Olympus releases its Zuiko offerings. As far as RAW support, if this Lumix is anything like Olympus cameras, it will and does.
first!
wow Ritz is closing before that stupid knife shop in bell square, didn't see that coming.
These pixs came from DPReview, which means they will do a comprehensive review of the camera. This sensor has generated a lot of interest, so I will patiently wait for a complete review before passing judgment. As one poster commented -- inside pictures would be greatly appreciated. I agree!
Given the price target there is a lot of competition from Canon and Nikon. This camera does hold promise.
oh, the irony of that picture.
Strange video...the camera takes 1080/24 - 720/60p or 720/30p , however on the DPReview site all movies are 720/25p.
What gives?
Why not put movies from the camera directly on the site without "manipulating" the movie?
Love the camera but it is silly that many site are becoming marketing depatments rather than objective bloggers/advisers.

Was just in the Kits place no more than 15 minutes ago and picked up one of the last remaining Wireless Swann securities camera (2 for $20!). The signs leading towards the mall now show 60-90% off.
Overheard that the store actually pulls in a lot more money than the other stores, but the rent for a spot in Bellsquare makes the store be less profitable. Gotta love the bean counting and liquidations during chapter 11.
i went there a week ago and the guy kept telling me to not buy stuff... and other customers as well... it was a weird shopping experience
I'm not impressed with the images at all. The low end, shadow details seem to be muddy, too contrasty.
Who took that picture, thats the Kits i used to work at, haha
Holy Cow! Ritz is having an up to 50% off sale! SWEET! Now they'll only be 10% more expensive than B&H.
I got a Lumix GH1 at a beginning of June and I was quite pleased with it. I looked at several cameras, like Canon G10 and Canon CX1 etc, but I went for Panasonic's GH1 because its small size and large sensor. Any manufacturer can do all sorts of tricks with firmware, optics, electronics etc. but simply there is no replacement for a shear size of the sensor, when it comes to the quality of the image. And sensor on the Panasonic's Lumix GH1 is 4 times, yes four times, bigger than G10's sensor.
Here we are. I've been to Dusseldorf, Germany, recently and I took some photos with Lumix GH1. I would say that colors and sharpness are quite good.
