Keepin' it real fake, part CCVIII: Nokia E75 isn't a Nokia E75
Usually we see these Nokia knockoffs as Noklas or Mokias, but don't be fooled: there's nothing genuine about this E75. One tug on the side should prove that for you seeing how it doesn't appear to have the real deal's hallmark feature, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Then again, it does have flashing red and blue lights along the bezel, so it's pretty much an even trade.

Yea I don't see why knockoffs need to call themselves NOKLA or MOKIA. Might as well steal the name.
I've always had a soft spot for IVOKIA knock-offs, but maybe that's just me.
Because they think they're being oh so clever, and also have the fantasy that one day it will actually be it's own brand.
@ Mr. 14, i have a soft spot for NOKLA
They have the clones with the slide out QWERTY

Wait it has flashing red and blue lights? Like a cop car? When it hits woot will someone tell me, I want one so I can mount it on my car and pull people over!
if theres anything I hate about china its gotta be this... their girls kindamake up for it though... some of them neway (that's right. skyblaze likes asians. what you gonna do about it)
Stop typing 'neway'. Is it that hard to type 1 more letter?
@genepro11
Your mama didn't think so.
genepro, stop confusing your mother with chinese...
Man... I'd rather endure the trolling wrath of 1000 iEye than deal with 1 loser racist noob...
Funny how people shun fake cell phones but yet buy their woman fake diamonds/DG/Louis Vitton/Gucci bags/Fake rolex/cartier...
But a cell phone? Nooooooooo!
AHAHHAAH!
Nokla FTW!
I hate to break it to you but not all girls in China look like Zhang Ziyi.
JEEEEEEEBUS! I check my email and its full o' replies from the angry ku klux klan of skyblaze. Can't you people take a joke :\. And saying "neway" is how I type. Why it'd bother someone I have no idea but just cuz I respect my fellow gadget lovers (trolls aside) ill adhere to your request sir.
ANYWAY...... live a lil, jeez. China's a great country. Crowded but its kickass place to live nonetheless. I just don't get why companies there feel the need to knockoff the other peeps. Just come up wit ur own stuff. Real rap.
Now if ull excuse me skyblaze has to go tend to the rest of his life. Later engadget :)
Ps. @ ethan... I know. That's why I said "some of them" ;)
....wait a minute... did i miss something here? who the hell is genepro and whys my email sying i got a ton of replies from him????? did engadget kill some comments again?
Why are you referring to yourself in the 3rd person? It's not cool.
Two KIRF posts in quick succession, both about Nokia? Chris, it's a Saturday and all but there's plenty of real news out there.
For example, the Omnia HD is out now in the UK. At least make a mention of that?
There's news happening 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We appreciate the criticism, but rest assured, not all stories are going to get posted in the order you like. Also bear in mind that there may be compelling reasons that we're skipping certain stories, either because they're out of our scope or have failed a vet for accuracy.
sure chris, I'll beat it in my mind!
Now don't you wish you could go back and edit that, Chris?
You can do just that. Just click the conveniently placed "Edit" button located right next to the...
Wait, that's right, there is no edit button! I know the complaining gets old, but seriously! People make mistakes, and some of us like to fix them. Beat that in mind.
@erikrocha17: Believe me, we hear you... comments are on our to-do list! Keep the complaints / suggestions coming, though.
Before you even THINK about a graphical redesign you should fix the comments. I'm not just talking about the editing, I mean all of it.
The replies not always working. the commenting system NEVER remembering my password (thank you firefox for autocompleting it) or even remembering that I'm a returning user. The rankings not appearing properly unless you click the timestamp. The seeming random order that comments appear in occasionally (Look at my comments on the "HTC Magic is not a "with google" device" article, one appears ABOVE me from half an hour later.)
Oh, and do try to be quicker doing something about people like "Guru" and the like. Heck, give me admin privileges on the comments and I'll deal with them myself.
suggestions for editing comments:
make it so that people can edit their comments directly for a short time (a la Digg). after that time, if somebody wants to edit their comment, leave the original comment unchanged and put the edit below the original comment with a timestamp.
or something like that.
The knock-offs are getting better with each try, wonder if they can improve hardware to beat originals while having a lower price at the same time - would make Nokias drop prices as well ;)
Nokia and Sony have both had their brands devastated by the piracy of the symbian operating system combined with knockoff production. Nokia was off, what 80% recently?. I've bee seeing indications they are planning to abandon symbian OS entirely.
I would be unsurprised to learn that if this phone was opened up the innards would turn out to be frankensteined together parts from old out of production Nokia phone designs.
I hate symbian, worst phone OS ever.
@Haikibutsu
Fail apple troll... last time i checked symbian's market share was a whooping 47.1%, followed by Blackberry Os 19.5% which is less than half of symbian's market share... So in other words, you mean 47.1% of smartphone users are so stupid and blind to notice that they are using the worst OS ever. What a pity, i hope the 47.1% smartphone users come to their senses soon.
I'm willing to bet you didnt even give symbian a chance to prove itself.It's more stable than winmo, is more mature than Android, can do things OSX can only dream about doing, and is the best OS when it comes to multimedia smartphones..
why oh why they dont just use WinMo already?
WINMO7RULEZ!!!
@GoGoGadget
Wow you have an early beta? Share plz.
I don't know what to say about Blackberry, but from what I've experienced with the rest of them, Symbian seemed the most reliable and usefull OS.
SYMBIAN SUCKS!!!
WINMOROCKS!!!
chris! we need you to kick this troll out of here (GoGoGadget)
@Me4u2
Not an Apple troll, don't even have an iPhone. If I had the cash to drop, I'd get one, but I don't.
I've had 3 Winmo phones, 2 symbian phones, and my current phone is a blackberry curve. I HATE symbian so much, it is a frustrating slow 90s piece of crap. It can't even do anything good, and not to mention it doesn't have a merit of aesthetic appeal either.
You must have had a really old symbian phone, because my n79 and e71 are not slow...at all.
Blackberry sucks, no exchange support, jank email. At least i can fully sync my email to my exchange server, mark as read, delete.....etc....all while paying 20 bucks less than a BIS plan.
@CleverEndevor,
just admit it already, Symbian is a piece of crap. "oh noes mommy my Symbian phone got Cabir virus shit" bla bla bla.unstable OS with laggy user experience. and add that up to the junk piece that Nokia calls as "hardware".
compared to that, WinMo is worlds apart, and it's the way of future. GO WINMO.
What's a 13.0 lacpixel camera? That sounds big and bull at the same time.
Chris Ziegler can you help out?
I've got something that makes people think "big" and "bull"...
13.0 laxpixel = 1.3 megapixel
@redcard
Seriously or are you kiddin?
redcard is right. Lac pixels = 100 000 pixels. Mega pixels = 1 000 000 pixels. Most Chinese knock-offs have 1.3 megapixel cameras, but now they tend to call them "13 lacpixel" or something.
Thanks for clearing that up, i'll sleep a little bit smarter tonight.
Wait a minute is that internet explorer?
Wow.... china-phone.org gets the Bad Photoshop Of The Day award.... I wonder who they stole the picture from.
That uppercase "i" (I) in may be actually be a lowercase "L" (l) and a "nokLa" afterall! Nevertheless, I love this KIRF stuff! Keep it coming!
It is, indeed, NokLa. And they're famous ;)
Rather than laugh at the knock off, why not review it? They do make some wonderful knock off phones cheap, quadband unlocked, dual sim, tv tuner for less than most american cell phones cost.
Personally ive decided to stop buying name brand cell phones that were overpriced and lacked the functions i needed and get the knock offs, some of them even come with 2 batteries !
Imagine a Shanzahi car salesman:
"Well I took the front end of a 93' Volvo and welded it to the back end of a Volkswagen beetle. I did body work to make it look just like a Ferrari though and it's got two engines so it should go really fast!. Since it looks like a Ferrari and they go for 100k, how about you pay 80k? that's fair right? Oh, no warranty and do you mind if I stand back over there when you start it?"
because you can't install any applications on them since their operating systems aren't the real thing. you simply can't compare the functions of a fake phone to a real one
But you are looking at spending maybe $60 or $70 on a non smart phone dual sim, quadband unlocked , fm radio and touch screen. Cheap or not, what other brand name phones do that for anything near that price?
From what i saw on some fake phone websites they are more in the region of $120-$150. And on paper they offer you much more than real phones for that price. But i wounder how many bugs they have and how much of their specs are true, in one forum i read a post by some guy who got cheated into buying a fake Nokia N95 and not only did it have a fake OS, he also couldn't use the internet and even though the device said it had several GB of space, the user was able to use only *brace yourself* .... 929 KB. You never know what you are going to get when you buy this junk.
