HTC Touch Pro2 for Sprint spotted in the wild, mid-June release?
We've known that a version of the HTC Rhodium / Touch Pro2 was inbound for Sprint at some point this summer (assuming no delays), but would mark the first time we've seen one in what appears to be finished production trim. A SprintUsers poster claims that the global roaming-capable device should be hitting retail mid-June with the portrait QWERTY Snap following in July -- and yes, we'd be more inclined to ignore the noise had said poster not also provided the glorious pictures. Looking good -- really good, actually -- but good luck tearing any eyes away from the Pre kiosks in the stores next month, HTC.

HTC: Give me this phone with Tegra, and you've got yourself a customer!
Sprint: Sell me this phone on my SERO plan and I'll renew..!
Well, now I'm in quite a predicament.
I have a Touch Pro right now and SERO. If I can't get the Palm Pre and keep SERO, it's going to be a hard sell compared to the Touch Pro with my continued SERO...
Sadly, I'm going out of the country on June 5th so I won't even be able to get the Palm Pre on launch day.
I totally am crazy about the Palm Pre but like so many I'm just not willing to part with my legacy retention Sprint plan just so I can get it. I would however totally consider trading in my HTC Touch or HTC Touch Diamond for this one. Why trade in the Diamond instead of the Touch? Because a few apps/OS still haven't gotten their act together (mainly Pandora and Android) when it comes to running on the Diamond's 640x480 screen. Plus I have been a huge fan of the directional keypad on the Diamond. Sprint could make my day however if they would just renew my current plan and let me trade in both phones for a new Palm Pre and a Touch Pro2.
Looks just as good if not better than the Palm Pre. Except for that funny looking Windows logo.
OMG!
WebOS or a reskined WM device. Hmmmm.
WM6.5 with TouchFlo 3D. You don't seriously believe that Palm would sell its only advantage, the OS, to competitors, do you? It tried that and it ended up with Palm having to buy out their biggest competitor, Handspring.
I meant it as, "Are people going to get the Pre or the Touch 2?"
I'd choose webOS.
Unproven OS with no apps or WinMO? Hmnnnn.....
@ glinden9
I'd still take my chances with WebOS. I've used WM before.
Its the Same as the Touch Pro 2...why i want it is because that keyboard looks way bigger and more comfortable than the first.....A larger screen..and it Tilts.
Im curious about WebOS but Palm keyboards feel horrible..but thats my opinion
I know what i can do with Windows mobile......but WebOs on this Would be intresting
It's hard to rate your guys comments (so you all get +)... I love windows mobile, but I'm also getting a Palm Pre.
Either way it does look like a really nice device.
@glinden9
i think it's funny people still say that when there is going to be an emulator for older palm os apps, so users can run most/all of their older apps anyway while waiting for webos versions if possible
of course the emulator isn't proven to be 100%, but it's something that can be updated
@ oghowie
Whats wrong with Windows Mobile?
I find it very productive.
Palm Pre is for virgins.
Now release a HTC Touch Pro 2 version with Android or even an Android phone on Sprint period and I'll be happy...
Yes! I want Touch Pro2 Hardware with Android,
I'd be in love....
Count me in as well.
You'll get your wish in time my friend. The dev community is very keen on developing Android builds for HTC devices. There's one currently for the Touch Pro 1, however not everything works. All things in time.
An Android phone on any other provider.....
Is this phone coming to Verizon?
Probably 10 months from now with no Wifi and half the RAM.
Verizon will have it, but without wifi and it will also have any native GPS removed in favor of VZNavigator
If it's like the Touch Pro, it'll show up in a GSM flavor in about 6 months on ATT.
i'll stick with my mogul unless this has enough buttons.... i got the touch pro, but there's no OK/messaging/IE/etc buttons, so i returned it. i don't want to fool around with a touchscreen and unintuitive/inefficient menus all day to do simple tasks.
I went from a Mogul to a TP. It took some getting used to but its easily worth it.
I've been reading about this phone coming to Tmobile for months and sprint is going to get it first? :(
ewwww.
sprint.
*hiss* I want it for t-mo :( cause t-mo is omegasuper-something alright.
htc just give me any phone with a slide out full keyboard and a 3.5 jack. keep the rest. i'll load my own choice of os on there.
This would have been my next phone, but they just couldn't put a 3.5mm Philips jack on it, could they...
Any chances this phone will be released for a US GSM provider, I hate Sprint.
both tmobile and att are likely to get this phone. rumors suggest tmobile will get it first.
its definitely going to tmobile (and now sprint, but BGR had slides of their 2009 lineup of phones for a while), and it's going to be released within the summer (june-july). im betting at&t will pick it up as well, and the same with verizon (who's willing to bet it will be crippled in some way? :( )
regardless, its a cdma/gsm hybrid so you can use it on virtually any carrier now. :)
Why the hate against Sprint? Let me guess, is it from their "shitty customer service" from years ago?
^yes it is that, that and bogus charges every month.
@krishe
Why hate against Sprint? How about you decide to give them another try because they have the cheapest data plan for a PDA phone. I say again because I had service with them several years back, they pull up that old account add a line to it, send your bill to your old address in a different state, and auto pay themselves with the old account information. Then when you finally see the charge on your bank account you spend over 2 hours on the phone trying to figure out WTF is going on because during the call you get disconnected three times being transfer ed between departments. And this is after you spent the last week trying to figuring out where your bill is, or getting a hold of somebody in customer service about it, and can't sign into their online billing because you already have an account that you can't get the password reset for because you no longer use the email account associated with it. Then you find out that they somehow didn't put a data plan on a PDA phone even though you expressly told them too so you have almost $100 in data charges that they won't refund and they have already paid themselves for. Nope, no clue why you would want to stab about every customer service rep from Sprint you ever spoke to right in the fucking throat!
@Kal26
Okay. Now tell us how you really feel.
@ KAL326
lmao, why so serious?
Damn never realized that there were so many Sprint fanboys in this bitch. Yes I hate Sprint for the "bogus charges every month" and the "shitty customer service from years back." I spent numerous hours on the phone getting Sprint to remove services they generously tacked on to my account without my consent such as roadside assitance, unlimited text messaging (didn't need it at the time), some shitty video service, unlimited minutes at 7pm, and other things I can't recall. I never had coverage in Irvine, CA and San Pedro, CA, the two places I lived at the time. Customer services at the store was even worse. Two "brand new phones" died on me within two weeks and nine weeks of purchase. It took the Sprint store service rep 2 fucking hours to get me a new phone from the back and transfer my contacts to the new phone. I saw the entire School of Rock movie at the Sprint store. I know there are many more people who experienced similar problems. So give Sprint another chance? Sorry I am not that abuse victim that goes back to the perpetrator to get beat on some more. I learned, grew, and moved on to another carrier, which for the most part provided good service. So let me say it another way, fuck Sprint!
If Sprint gets both this and the Palm Pre next month, they could really bounce back. Lots of options with some very pretty smart phones.
I believe the Snap is coming June 7th as well
Any word on thickness? I have the Diamond, wouldn't mind the full keyboard, but not if it's as thick as the Touch Pro 1.
Come on HTC - thinner since the man-purse has been out of style since Reagan left office...
Far be it for me to answer my own question, but according this page:
http://www.htc.com/www/product/touchpro2/specification.html
The touch Pro 2 is 2mm thinner than the original Touch Pro.
No SERO for Pre? Well then TP2 it is.
Amen, brother.
But let's keep it in the $250 range..
I hope you don't believe that they'll let you keep SERO. I have a feeling this is the end of all SERO contracts.
Same here. If I can't have a Pre with my SERO account, then I'll ditch my Touch for a Touch Pro 2 if they'd let me.
HOLY SHIT. I wasnt expecting this until October at the Earliest. Damn, this changes alot...Verizon may have beat them to the Tour....but we get them to the Touch Pro 2 i guess.
Pre, Touch Pro 2 all in June....Now can we get Some new Blackberrys in the Next couple Months??
I know what you mean! I told my wife that this wasn't coming until Early next year. JUNE! YEAH!!! I am ready to go back to a Keyboard. I currently have the Sprint Touch. My Wife just got the Blackberry the other day and I told her she should take it back and get the Pre. This would be great if I could get the TP2 in the same month! YEAH! 2 new toys to play with!
