New video of HTC Hero's Android build offers Frenchy vision of widget utopia
The verdict is still out on whether what we've been seeing is indeed some precursor to Android 2.0 "Donut," or (more likely) some elaborate HTC skin designed bring HTC's Android home screen experience up to par with its extensive Windows Mobile reskinning. Either way, things are shaping up quite nicely for the HTC Hero, with another leaked build showing widget functionality galore, including weather widgets that actually show the weather. Interestingly, this isn't a complete replacement for the existing home screen, since in the add widget dialogue you can pick an HTC Gadget, a Google Gadget, or other regular things like Shortcuts, and most everything seems to cohabitate well in the example video. With the rate these leaks are coming, we're guessing we'll be hearing more about the HTC Hero before too long, and if not we've always got the nouveau cocktail jazz electro crossover stylings of Air to keep us calm. Video is after the break.

Holy shit!
I love it.
That looks awesome, the widget to turn wifi on/off is a brilliant idea, and twitter. With this an the Pre, I'm starting to doubt my iPhone, Apple better deliver at WWDC.
WOW!!!!!!! That looks pretty awesome. With the news of this being in the near future for HTC Android devices, I am seriously beginning to lose any remaining lust I have for the iPhone. And if they come out with this and Apple doesn't deliver at WWDC (meaning new hardware and further changes to the UI/software) then there is no doubt that I will be heading out to get me one of these. Besides, even before I saw this, I've been thinking more and more lately that Apple should take another look at Android and take a few pointers, regardless of the fact that they shadow over Android in marketshare.... Oh, yeah, and if this is like TouchFlo for Android, I'm kind of interested to see what TouchWiz for Android will look like after Samsung gets some experience with Google's OS under their belt. Just a thought...... But anyway, I REALLY like what I see. Talk about an operating system growing to maturity pretty quickly (these HTC skins must have been the hormones to cause this premature growth ;) yeah i know that wasn't funny).
