Sharp Aquos Shot 933SH and Miruno 934SH handsets get handled
It's debatable whether anyone really needs a 10 megapixel cameraphone with a maximum ISO setting of 12800, but plenty of people (ourselves included) really want one, so we're coveting these new pics of Sharp's Aquos 933SH, which also sports a 3.3-inch VGA LCD, 16GB of internal storage, and a "cheese focus" setting that guarantees that your friends' faces and not their fondues will be in focus at your next party. Also handled by Akihabara News is the Miruno 934SH, another high-end model with a more feminine marketing angle that somehow gets by with just eight megapixels on tap, but adds in all sorts of fun (and vaguely demeaning) applications, like a palm reader and a kitchen timer, and is even waterproof so that bath time doesn't have to interrupt gab time. Unsurprisingly there's still no mention of an American release, so don't give up that bathroom speakerphone just yet.

I want to need this.
either those are very small hands, or that thing would look like the Zack Morris phone against your face....
LMAO I see what you mean. It's the length of two candy-bar phones. Did you see the size of the camera on the other side? Looks kinda creepy.
no, actually I didn't click through to the other images.. it looks like the thing could double as a drink coaster! O.O
It sounds perfect for creating high-resultion visual reminders of all those candle-lit office trips to the communal sauna.
If it has any kind of a good sensor, then the battery life is going to suck. Why wouldn't you just buy a point a shoot?
This will be unlocked by the end of the year. I am currently using an unlocked Docomo P906i and i would ahve to say it's the best phone i have ever used. Hopefully there is a chinese unlocked version released with internet support.
I can't... I just can't get excited over upcoming western phones (Such as Pre or N97) when there are phones much superior to them already on the market.
It's just not fair!
With that much real-estate they could have easily put in a qwerty keyboard rather than a number pad.
that is really cool..but it looks MASSIVE...
Looks just fine to me compared to their usual phones.
It really sad that all the Japanese cell phone are not released outside of Japan. It seems that if you really want one that you need to move to Japan.
Look at the third shot in the read link. The one that shows the front of the phone, in it's closed position. Looks as though it has the ability to rotate. So the the 3.3 inch touchscreen can be used while taking pics.
japanese people must have ridiculously large hands with giants pieces of tech like that
wants.
and I have to add, I have not said that since the first gen iPhone in 2007. everything since then has been boring. but these guys are seriously sexy, want badly.
Um, Does anyone else notice that the giant black circle on the phone where the camera is. . . . is purely aesthetic?

The tiny black off-center dot in the middle of that "lens" is actually the sensor, right? This thing doesn't actually pop out, or have any kind of "lens" other than whatever glass covers the CCD.
Also there's the seemingly contradictory lens text going around the "bezel" of the lens:
Auto Focus - Does the CCD actually move on those little baffles that set it back from the "lens"? If so, that's an improvement, but I wonder what the focal distance range is. .. .
28mm WIDE f=5.07mm - Is it a 28mm equivalent? 28mm equiv IS wide, but then what's 5.07mm? The other end of the spectrum? Is it 28mm or 5.07mm?
1:2.8 - Once again, is this equivalent, and with these kind of optics do we really get an actual aperture setting?
All this 10mp crap is bogus unless they can actually put up some full size photos taken with this thing. Pony up, Sharp.
It's a...uh...holographic lens...
desu
CGA LCD? Am I reading this right? C is right next to V so...
It seems a shame to shackle such a nice looking lens with an LED flash.
That thing is ugly.
I have almost that exact same shot that they are using on that phone from my honeymoon. It's Santorini, Greece and it's just behind our hotel room.
Why can't they just sell these in the states unlocked???
i love the japanese
It's Japan. There's no such thing as demeaning.
