Transformers USB flash drive is ready to ravage your files, bring carnage to your desktop

Sure, you already have piles of flash drives scattered around your apocalyptic nightmare of an apartment, but this one's more special than those, right? Because it's a Transformer-- Ravage, AKA Tripredacus Agent. Ravage has outlived the age of cassette and is onto smaller, better things, and he can store up to 2GB of your most valuable data. He's going to run $42.99 when he's available in September, and can be pre-ordered now.
Update: It looks like the pre-order is already sold out! Wonder if the fact that we ordered 1,000 of them has anything to do with it?

I would kill for one, but it's way overpriced.
Oh yes. My first reaction was MUST HAVE.... but the I saw the pricing.
So you'd kill for this, but won't pay $42.99.. interesting.
i lol'd.
you bastards, you better be selling me one e)))
It'd be cooler if it's penis was the plug-y thingy
why-
..nevermind its not worth it
Epic Win
....but $42 for a 2Gb drive?
$10.00 + transformers awesomeness != $42.99
Me hugging my G1 cassette Ravage.
It may not store files but it is way more awesome.
Hey, you gotta pay those ridiculous licensing fees somehow!
"$10.00 + transformers awesomeness != $42.99"
More like $10.00 + transformers awesomeness! = $42.99
I'd pay that for an 8GB+ drive like that...either way it's pretty rad!!
I would do that
Want
My heart tells me to get around 50-100 of them but my wallet says otherwise.
omg i want!!
but ... too expensive =[
it's sold out anyway
here are the rest of them

The looks like Thundercats....... Hooooooo.
^ should read
The head looks like...
I should have listened to my teachers advice and proof-read my sh*t
Nah! Voltron FTW!
I hear the Germans make toilets for proof-reading your sh*t
you know the Germans make good stuff.
where does Engadget get their budget from, that they can just preorder 1,000 of these stupidly overpriced 2 gig usb drives...? $43,000 bucks gone!
erm, hyperbole?
erm, sarcasm?
erm, engadget?
erm, tarp?
erm, AOL?
erm, batman
erm, _?
erm, recession much?
erm, long recession...
erm, apple? engadget isnt the interwebs biggest apple fanboy for free, you know.
C-C-Combo breaker!!
SUPREME VICTORY
sniff. There's a tear in my cereal for each one of you.
WANT! WANT! Engadget gimme one. :)
Holy crap this needs to be the next Recession Antidote, if Engadget can get one anyway. I wonder if this uses an original Ravage toy or is a new manufacture of some type?
Take out the transformer logo and this will cost under 20 bucks.
Agree to disagree
btw, Voltron was also awesome..... totally forgot about that great show
Damn! Finally someone saw the light
Amen!
More than meets the eyes.
$42.99, what a rip off, they should make it a microSD card reader...
Would get but my son would steal it, break it, lose it, then put the blame on me and have the nerve to ask for Rumble and Laser Beak.
Can you make these a free giveaway
Must. get. one. I have a tattoo of Ravage on my arm for crying out loud!
Sad
Saw an unpainted prototype of this a while back at TFW2005 and was like, "Meh."
But painted? Oh good god. If it was cheaper or higher capacity for that price? It would be mine. But I can't be spending $42.99 on a 2GB flash drive, even if it does look like Ravage.
Never mind the thousands upon thousands of dollars I've spent on Transformers over the past two and a half decades...
crazy
Next, there needs to be a USB hub that holds four flash drives and transforms, a la Devastator.
Orly? http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=TAK10929&mode=retail
hell yeah!!!!
Wouldn't that be Soundwave?
WANT...IT!!
$10 flash drive + $10 plastic toy ≠ $42.99
Way overpriced!
you just wanted to use the not equal to symbol. fancy.
Shame on you for insulting transformers.
Well it's rare that something get done as well as this, and you pay for style and design, and some women buy prada bags for 5 grand, and use it one season.
And it's better than asking $20 extra because it's colored white
Bad ass.
That is the coolest usb I have ever seen. I need to have that in my life.
COOL, not $42.00 cool, but cool none the less
Want!
I must have it. It will light my darkest hour.
OMG, thats the coolest thing ive ever seen. i would totally buy one of these things....if i were 8.
scratch that, im getting one...
funny that everyone "says" this product is too overpriced, but preorders are already sold out... ah, aint america great.... there's a pricepoint for everyone i guess..
wow greedy... 1000... gosh. share the love.
Isn't this USB device closer to a Voltron Lion than a Transformers guy?
(Picture of black Voltron Lion: http://media.photobucket.com/image/voltron black lion toy/chogokin_tamashii/toynami/voltron6.jpg?o=1 )
Actually, it reminds me a lot of my old Ravage toy.
Oops, here's the pic:

1000? A recession antidote on the making?
I think I'll wait for the $300 external hard drive shaped like Grimlock
Unbelievable which ever one of you fan boys pre-ordered all of them. Cmon' what's $50 in the grand scheme of things, every time you take it out you can 'transform' it? what more could you want? i will buy one. DARE TO BE STUPID.
$43, lol.
Omg, that's so effing sweet.
Fucking epic
Yeah, but is the decal heat-sensitive?
Wow, Awesome! Now if it only glowed in the dark like these: http://www.lushcanopy.com/?p=369
Every one of you are idiots, including a FAIL on the manufacturer. It's VOLTRON!
I wonder if the manufacturer had originally intended to mimic a Voltron Lion, but then decided to add the Decepticon logo so they could exploit the revived craze resulting from the live action movies?
NM... I guess it kinda, sorta looks like his Jaguar form.

Figured I would give people a heads up if they wanted to save a few bucks
Ravage is from the Transformers Device Label (debuting in September). Here are some others that are coming up.

Maybe next they will turn a Brando 55-in-1 Card Reader into Soundwave???
Ordered a 1000 of these did you Engadget... Sounds like a sleek ploy for market control and profit!
Oh wait you'll probably just give them away for a Recession Antidote - Win!
I need this to battle the decepticons!
O M G
overpriced, but frickin cool
Reminds me of these guys:
http://30gms.com/images/uploads/transformer.jpg
I had one of those when I was little.
I'd hit it.
i remember when i paid $50 for a 64MB thumb drive.....
64 MEGA bytes......
Absolutely brilliant. Now bring on the Soundwave USB hub to go with it. You're welcome.
Along with USB versions of laserbeak, buzzsaw, rumble, frenzy, and ratbat.
Woah. That is so cool! I don't care if it's too masochist. I. Want. That! Yes, it may first sound a bit overpriced, but I think the cost is more of to acquire the rights that to pay for tha materials and labor costs.
Oh... so close... My desire for this would have only allowed me to spend $42.98... Too bad.
I would hurt someone to get one!
If its durable i'd get one... you know how many times I would open and close this to show people :D
Ravage USB Drive > sliced bread
for the amount of fun a 10/30 year old would have with this the price is (just) allowed!
Since when is transformers sacred?! I too am a fan of the old school cartoon series, but there's no reason it should cost that much. Takara toys basically began transformers, so they're not paying someone else for the rights, it's pure profit – they're charging you for nostalgia. Besides, just how good of a USB drive can it be if it's made by a toy company? Yes, I still want one, but not for $42.99!
