Microsoft Future: hallucinating icons will be an everyday occurrence
There's nothing like a cheesy tech company promo video to make us all feel all warm and fuzzy with the promise of amazing sci-fi tech to come, and Microsoft's Future vids are a pinnacle of the form, what with their vision of a pervasive natural computing interface. Of course, strident idealism is a ripe target for mockery, and the kids at Sarcastic Gamer are at it again, taking the piss out of the last Future spot with their own dysfunctional narration. Grins after the break!

Time to brush up on my Hindi.
So does the little girl.. she just called her dog, a cat.
@ AJ
It could be that her telling that she's got a pet cat, and that dog cartoon that appears are unrelated.
Abhishek, I doubt that.. look at the video.
Imagine her were pointing an uzi to his head and saying "I have a S&W 0.357"
"Mere paas ek billi hai"
"Mere paas ma hai"
AJ, I think that's the first time I've ever seen someone put the 0 in front of .357. Somehow it just sounds less cool saying "zero-three-fifty-seven."
dirtyvegas.. LOL bro..+1
DWells55, the 0 is silent...
tight
"from the people who brought you the zune and windows vista..."
"Someday, the future will be really cool. But until then, unfortunately, you're stuck with Windows. From Microsoft."
Girl: "Don't F with me, my dog will rip your face off!"
Boy: *pees on self, cries and runs to teacher.
I can see some international incidents springing up if that translator isn't calibrated correctly.
"My hovercraft is full of eels."
"All your base are belong to us"
"the guy from Heroes" lulz!
wow i can't wait to get a badass newspaper!
Sounds great till you spill your coffee while reading the weather on it and the newspaper shorts out and lights your treeehouse on fire.
Duke... is your surname, by any chance, Nukem?
@loocas. let it go he's not coming back.
I just downloaded Visual Studio 2010 and... taking a look at what the Windows Presentation Foundation is I can see how this video ties in with where Microsoft is headed.
This is interesting.
Hindi: I have a cat
English: Do you have any pets?
Hindi: Do you have any pets?
and they have a hologram of a dog?
I am so confused...
It's Microsoft, dude, get used to it... ;)
@loocas
Its a parody...
Apple propaganda.
I thought only Gizmodo would actually put this on their front page... but I was mistaken.
Why everything must be Apple fault? You microsoft fans must be really tired of this...
Stop generalizing. Unlike the MS Surface Parody, this has the Apple print all over it.
be careful, nilay's defender chris z. may pop up any minute call anyone who doesn't agree as idiots. luckily these two were proven to deserve that title last time (table top parody)
Yes, any Microsoft parody is Apple propaganda. Similarly, all Obama parodies on SNL are Bush propaganda.
Meh, not really too funny.
My pc's don't crash, my zune rocks, and vista with sp1 and mature nvidia drivers is perfect.
The only thing buggy and stupid lately is my damn Samsung Eternity, with its oddly pathetic bugs and lack up updates. Abandonware? yes.
I have been a pc user for about 20 years now. I know I am old. I have been using everyday, to email, surf the net, Photoshop, CAD, etc, I also have a zune 30gb original model, and a Media center, both used daily. But... They all crash, are very buggy, have had virus' on a computer that has never surfed the net and is used mainly as a media backup. I usually get virus' once a month just from working/ researching. Anything MS touches crashes, breaks and gets virus'. Granted due to the fact MS is the most commonly used PC version. I just don't see things working out as great as they say in original Future Prediction by MS. I envision Blue screen of Death on all MS products. Yes, I can Blue Screen any version of windows all the way to W7.
I don't think you quite got it if your reason for not finding it funny is your PC works fine.
"I usually get virus' once a month just from working/ researching."
Have you considered this crazy new thing called 'a firewall'?
Brdystyls ...
1. Don't click on banner ads that promise you $1,000,000 if you can hit the gopher with a mallet.
2. Don't watch or download pr0n on your computer
3. Don't open email attachments about penis enlargements
4. Don't download torrents
You do these 4 things and your virus count will be next to zero.
Guys, Brdystyls, is just an apple fan boy don't pay attention to him, they have been doing this more lately.
HE did mention brainwashing didn't he? Or only implants?
I enjoyed it somewhat... Its like watching a rerun of a simpsons episode, somewhat entertaining, but good luck getting more than a small smirk in response to the best it had to offer. thus, MEH.
And to defend the technical side of things, I use nod32 smart security, firefox+adblock plus+noscript, virustotal, and process explorer. Stick with this, and your in the clear, otherwise, stay away from pron, p2p, and torrents.
Oh, and BSOD = always driver/hardware problems... I haven't seen one on my stuff since I was overclocking and/or beta testing nvidia drivers, otherwise WHQL's are rock solid. Most ppl who have 20 years of computing experience know this.
I tip my hat and say good day.
I know I am at least guilty of number 4. And as a matter of fact I am a linux fanboy
@bjsguess What good is a computer if you actually follow number 2 on that list?
Nilay, slow news day huh? Gizmodo level stuff...
I guess it's to make up for the MagSafe on the Unibody macbook which caught fire. Made em feel bad. This'll cheer em up!
They can make all the fun they want, but in 10 or 15 years when products like that start to launch, they'll be shitting themselves to get in line to buy them.
Like we are all for the tables?
Anyone else think Nilay sucks and tries too hard to be funny and isn't? Sorry dude but your articles sound like you got a bug up yer ass about something.
I saw two things:
-Overpopulation is gone, thanks for a mortal plague or a global war.
-Energy problem is gone.. now we can spend a lot of energy in every single device.
I saw another thing:
- A parody
I don't see those being too different.
If we don't have so many people, we can spend more energy per person... Bring on the Zebra Flu!
LOL, that's funny. It's definitely just a parody. I mean look at how spacious the seats are on that plane, that's obviously bogus. And no lines at the airport? I do expect in the future, people will be required to be nude at airports, and you have to pay extra for a loin cloth.
Extremely funny.
- From the Company who brought you the Zune and Windiws Vista! LoL.
- That guy from heroes. 2LoL
Meh. A couple of good lines, but a lot of chaff. If they had cut the video down to about 1:30, it would have been better.
In comedy, timing is... ... well... something.
If you are going to post comments like that, at least make sure you spell correctly so you don't look like more of an idiot than you already are.
