Sure, the catalog of compatible games hasn't been as hefty as we'd like, but Sony has done quite a bit right with its PlayStation 3 / PSP Remote Play feature. Modder Dashhacker (with special thanks to noted PSP hacker Dark_AleX, among others) has released Open Remote Play v1.1 beta, which lets you take that same Remote Play experience onto your Windows PC or Intel-based Mac. The caveat here is that you'll still need a PSP handy to set up the application, so don't go thinking you can bypass the portable altogether. The OS X version apparently works well, but Windows users may ample bugs -- it is beta, after all. We haven't had a chance to try it ourselves yet, but don't let that stop you from beating us to the punch -- just let us know what you think. Alternatively, you can peruse video of it in action after the break.
Haven't you seen the commercials? They probably just couldn't get it to run on a PC since you can't even turn them on anymore. Us PC users have so many viruses and our computers crash every 15 seconds!
If Sony is looking to be the kinder, gentler company it says it wants to be this could be their killer app. Run with this idea and beef it up. One of the biggest complaints of PC gaming is the varied performance of each individuals PC (But does it run Crysis...anyone?) If Sony were to extend Remote Play to PCs as well as PSPs developers could create games for one platform and get two and be assured that almost any modern PC will be able to run Crysis!
I copy the folder onto my psp under “game”. however when i run (play) the program on it, it says that it is corrupt. then opening my psp game folder on my pc, I cant seem to find the export.orp anywhere on my psp’s card. I feel like an idiot seeing how fast some ppl got it running. am i missing something here?
Now now Sony, don't go scrambling to try and patch to block this sorta thing from going on.. learn from what functionality people want, and bring out your own version.
I wanna see improvements on Remote Play such as: multiple PSP/PS3 registrations allowed.. log in to multiple PS3s easily (only has to be one at a time of course) PS3 to PS3 remote play, synchronisation features, with a global game save feature whereby your game save data 'follows' you on the net.. no more keeping usb sticks updated all the time (and with games like KZ2 stopping you from moving data to usb)
"What's the best gaming laptop for under 1,500 bucks? I had my eye on the P7805u (Gateway), but it seems Best Buy has run out for the time being. Also, as a secondary question, I like the specs on brands such as iBUYPOWER and CyberPower and the like, but are they reliable? I'm a little worried about buying labels that aren't huge like Dell, Gateway, etc. Thanks!"

If you still need a PSP then why bother? Especially if you have a 2000 that can be hooked up to displays?
Already own Macbook Air - $0
Already own PS3 - $0
Already own PSP - $0
Already own Games - $0
Yehhhh, sure why not!
silly ppl
Meant to the guy below!
Now that I misordered my reply, This means I will instantly get low-ranked correct?
You only need the PSP once to get the key. I have already set up a couple of coworkers who "only" have the PS3.
Macbook Air - $1800
PS3 - $400
PSP - $120
Game - $20-50?
Ehhhh, no thanks.
Well it's not something you'd go out and by the components for, is it? nob head
Being able to play more games on your Mac :Priceless
(soz if thats a UK only reference)
"Windows users may ample bugs" -> "Windows users may ample [experience/encounter/notice] bugs"
"Windows users may ample bugs" -> "Windows users may [experience/encounter/notice] ample bugs"
Messed up my own corrections.
Right now there is no way to stream video on PS3 to a PC or a Mac. If this works, it's will be a good solution.
Yeh but surely, this will only output video at the same resolution as the PSP screen! Meaning it's really pretty useless.
Also, I THINK, that it needs to be a homebrew enabled PSP, not just any ol' PSP.
So you need a PSP to set it up, but what about after that?
If it needs a PSP to hook up, then no thanks..
Have just set this up in under 5mins, works great!

I can't believe some people are still repeating this old BS today. We're no longer in 2007.
I am pretty sure they meant compatible with remote play.

i wounder if this will work via over the internet.
Yes, it does work over the Internet. Only thing missing (under development) is wake-over-Internet.
I've always wondered why nobody was looking at doing this. Now I know they were :)
No doubt an iPhone version is in the pipeline. Would sell a bundle.
PC = Personal Computer
Apple Mac = Personal Computer
Mac = PC
nice...

Does the psp have to be running homebrew?
yea, im having the same issue....can't figure it out
is your PSP homebrew-enabled? Otherwise you will not be able to run the PSP tool.
Anyone want to share their connection deets so I can check out a PS3 without owning one? :)
I'm using vista and it won't work period, does it only work on wireless computers ?
