PSP rumors?
CNET's got it on good word that Sony's been talking to some of the big recording labels about putting their music on the PlayStation Network for download, specifically with the PSP in mind. It really isn't much of a stretch, especially when you think about the service's ever-growing library of movies and TV shows. And of course, Sony itself is one of the four largest music companies in the world, so if it really had to go on its own for a bit, it should be able to muster a few good artists. It's just a rumor for now, but this definitely feels like the natural progression for PSN and the company's do-everything device. You know what would go great with a PSP music download service? A

Memory Stick HG-Micro slot to replace UMDs... Just sayin'.

No, a UMD'less PSP would NOT be awesome! I just bought a PSP3000 and out came that rumor the very next day...

I just bought a 3000 several months ago. It's all good.
It would have to be a completely new PSP... it was bad enough with the DSi cutting out Game Boy Advance (and Guitar Hero) compatibility, but to completely remove ALL the games you have released physically in the past from your product's library...
I don't think Sony will dismiss all the PSPs sold in the recent years and start over. If PSP goes UMD-less, I think it will only mean that we won't be using the UMD slot in our PSPs, and the PSP-4000 will go slimmer :)

I just find it amazing that a company like Microsoft is using more of Sony's content than Sony is using for its own devices!
Live has Netflix and some Marketplace TV shows provided by Sony; Zune has Sony Music, and when that likely integrates with the 360, we'll probably have MS using Sony's content to its own advantage.
It's crazy.

lets be honest now, who actually pays for stuff they use on their psp?
We have had PSP's in our family since they came out, got a PS3 to link with them. My 2 boys use them at home and I use them at work on the wifi. I game , net radio, remote connect to the PS3, DL content from the store and the list go's on. I would like to know when are the PSP haters going to give it up for the PSP as one of the most complete and beat portable entertainment unit of all time. The list of its capabilities is almost to large to list and growing. I say it crushes the DL.

PS. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying theres not things to improve , 2 analogs, battery life, browser, umd etc.

I found the best way is to go to my local game store and get a $20 or what ever Sony store credits on a card. My kid's can use it and so can I. Works for us.
I don't know about you "new" psp owners, but I'm loving my hacked PSP.

Why a damn slide out gamepad...what is that...isn't the controller on the psp a gamepad already? Try finding that on the iphone. And what's this about memory stick micro HG nonsense...what do I need another non standard memory slot for. I want all my memory to work in other devices as well. The best solution is micro SD. I've been using that in the psp forever and you can put 2 in the psp with the help of photoflash memory adapter. Total 32gig...do you need more? And I can still convert that to SD to use in camera.
Errrmm... This will be the VidZone service that Sony have spoken about on numerous occasions, no?
European only service (about time we got something over this way!) that will bring thousands and thousands of music videos direct to the XMB... For free...

Somebody watched Chuck and Larry last night.
I have been downloading music on the PSP for years and use its internet radio a lot. Also use its RSS for music.
So did everyone else get the 15-20 minute online survey from SCEA asking how likely you would be to subscribe to a game/movie/music download service on PSN? I think that Sony is going to try and go the route of a monthly subscription based game download service linked to one's PSN account. Doesn't mean I would play my PSP more often but hey... if it helps bring better more innovative games to the platform then I'm all for it.
