That's extremely creative! I wonder if we can actually make a virtual character(just like in SIMS) actually do our work and display it on our monitors/screens. It can become the world's first speech to virtual action display interface on daily usable computing devices...
This is exactly how OS X works, doing one thing at a time while putting on a show ;) Notice the fancy progress bars and buttons? Definitely not Windows!
Nice concept, but boot time was quite slow, and it often hung on the progress bar. I suppose it'd be quicker waking from sleep than hibernate mode though.
I haven't seen Science of Sleep but the whole time I was thinking that it was very Michel Gondry who, unsurprisingly, directed Science of Sleep. Great little movie. I thought the music was perfect, by the way. It sounded like it could've been one of Octopus Project's more somber tunes.
I really, really liked that. I already personify my computers (Dave the Dell, hi) so I already imagine my computer to be kinda like a person doing stuff for me.
and this video was freakin awesome...for all the people that DIDN'T like the music, ever heard of mute? or volume down? easy solution. i just watched this listening to Death Cab for Cutie and it was awesome.
I would actually like to see an operating system which behaved like that. I mean, not a real person, but had an avatar or person below the screen doing stuff for you. That would be really cool.
How charming! My favorite part is near the beginning, when the human interface waves up at the user, you can see the silhouette of the user's hand wave back.
I hope Mr. Cheney doesn't see this. If he does he'll build the most powerful human interface... powered by every indentured servant in the world! DUN DUN DUN... !
Yes I wanted to make clear not everybody likes this vid, and not everybody that doesn't like it pretends he/she does anyway to to suck up. Plus I clearly like commenting, sometimes overly so, I know.
Rather "revealing" on how slow people are vs computers, but we designed machines for a reason :-). Just imagine if we have THIS before we had PC's, a ludicrous statement, but still. That would have been funny.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
EPIC,
i want one xD
I want the 'Virtua-Girl' one!
yeah, i wonder if it comes in any flavor other than "embarrassing hipster"
that dude belongs on latfh.com :P
It would make a great performance piece in a public space.
I'm so glad I decided to skip through that rather than watch it end to end... >_>
Dick in a box.

"Deep down, don't we all think they work like this?" - Nope. Not really.. =\
yeah...
and the music was psychotic.
Yeah... I'd like that minute and a half of my life back, please.
Clearly, that dude couldn't fit into my computer anyway. Now, leprechauns on the other hand...
@ Hawkman
I agree with you. This is why computers were so as large as rooms 20+ years ago. They all had people inside them doing the calculations.
Guess that's why they were so expensive too.
Nilay = worst poster evarr.
Engadget comments section:
Further proof that nerds don't get Art.
I agree with eric. Seriously, this was a pretty well done whort film. dont try to pic apart its flaws - it wasn't meant for that.
HAHA... wow, funny, but lame = awesome :P :D
Replace that dude with a girl, then we talk!
Thing is though they'd crash after you left them running for 30 minutes. =/
for all you know, your credit cards been used for many online shopping transaction...be careful dude...they're dangerous...
That was actually quite charming.
Lully! Made me smile.
Well done. Very entertaining and insightful.
is that a userinterface userinterface? funny :)
That's extremely creative! I wonder if we can actually make a virtual character(just like in SIMS) actually do our work and display it on our monitors/screens. It can become the world's first speech to virtual action display interface on daily usable computing devices...
Alright! I took this way too seriously!
that was really...awesome
Cool video, but the music was painful.
I agree.
What are you talking about? Rap music is amazing.
i rather enjoyed the music, and downloaded some on my zunepass not but a moment ago.
A bit like the Microslave Oven :)

Lol, very creative. I agree with previous comments in that 1) the music was painful, and 2) give me a girl one! :D
WTF was all that nonsense?? Fail!!!!!
WTF was your nonsense comment?? Fail!!!!!
WTF was your nonsense reply?? Fail!!!!!
C-C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!!!
WTF??
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the internet.
:)
That was epic lol so that's why it takes so long to boot Windows
This is exactly how OS X works, doing one thing at a time while putting on a show ;) Notice the fancy progress bars and buttons? Definitely not Windows!
@Manoj252
Dude, you obviously havent gotten Windows 7 yet. Full of said fancy effects ;)
Nice concept, but boot time was quite slow, and it often hung on the progress bar. I suppose it'd be quicker waking from sleep than hibernate mode though.
Oooo a bear version!
I guess if it's a cold boot you'd need a Lazarus version too.
or combine them for Lazarbear!
Didn't know that "engadget" is an anagram for "Gizmodo".
Great way to stop this problem- don't go on Gizmodo
We're not allowed to have a bit of fun on Friday afternoon? You need more smiles in your life, friend.
Good pretty sweet.
damn hipsters ruining everything !
I liked the beachball made out of a multi-colored pinwheel :-D
The best bit was when he pasted the smiley face over the top of the semi-colon and bracket.
That was really awesome, and reminded me of the same type of filming as done in "Science of Sleep"
I haven't seen Science of Sleep but the whole time I was thinking that it was very Michel Gondry who, unsurprisingly, directed Science of Sleep. Great little movie. I thought the music was perfect, by the way. It sounded like it could've been one of Octopus Project's more somber tunes.
I see potential for a iPhone app here.
Without 3G connection.. Damn You AT&T!!!
I really, really liked that. I already personify my computers (Dave the Dell, hi) so I already imagine my computer to be kinda like a person doing stuff for me.
lol that was funny, but what would happen if he got a virus...
Well, that would be one case where a Trojan might have been desirable.
Okay...seriously, I nominate the above reply as the post-of-the-year...
Well done *applause*
seconded! that reply was epic!!!
and this video was freakin awesome...for all the people that DIDN'T like the music, ever heard of mute? or volume down? easy solution. i just watched this listening to Death Cab for Cutie and it was awesome.
I hope its the new touch features in windows 7!
Nice video, nice music. Well deserve a place on engadget front page.
*Sigh* Well, there goes 6 minutes of my life that I'll never get back..
Some else's life is so much better than Second life.
wow! that is some rendering!!!
that's is incredibly cute and spooky in equal measures
Nice demo, but I wished they showed the multi touch. Is that a resistive or capacitive screen?
resistive. He refuses to conform.
I would actually like to see an operating system which behaved like that. I mean, not a real person, but had an avatar or person below the screen doing stuff for you. That would be really cool.
He got rid of the archive without closing it. Even the Human Interface is full of memory leaks! :O
How charming! My favorite part is near the beginning, when the human interface waves up at the user, you can see the silhouette of the user's hand wave back.
Classic computer routines! Awesome and very creative video!
Great to see people out there being creative! Well done.
gay?
you are.
I couldn't watch that whole thing, too boring.
Ok, you don't' have to.
So what happens if he get's a virus? Trojans?
I hope Mr. Cheney doesn't see this. If he does he'll build the most powerful human interface... powered by every indentured servant in the world! DUN DUN DUN... !
everyone who wants a girl version of this needs to get laid.
give me one with wall-e.
those who think of the girl version.... obviously need a wet dream!
I would pay so much to anyone who makes a virtual interface like that. That tripped me out in awe. Crazy!
Could not bring myself to watch more than 6 second of that.
..but you were fine with taking about five times that amount of time to type out your comment and verify it, hmmm?
Yes I wanted to make clear not everybody likes this vid, and not everybody that doesn't like it pretends he/she does anyway to to suck up.
Plus I clearly like commenting, sometimes overly so, I know.
Half man and half animal Interface....
Ha, charming and insightful indeed.
Rather "revealing" on how slow people are vs computers, but we designed machines for a reason :-). Just imagine if we have THIS before we had PC's, a ludicrous statement, but still. That would have been funny.
hey, i just noticed something
Dick in a box.
*proceeds to sing it to ImaYam*
If they used Oompa-Loompas, they could fit more processing power into that same space.
Dual/quad core Oompa-Loompa is the way to go!
Oompa-Loompas, now that's funny. But would they get the blue screen of death after candy overload?
One of the most creative video presentation I've seen. Great job.
i want to see if this thing can crash and gets BSOD
Bravo!
