Samsung's M7600 Beat DJ music phone on sale at O2 UK
Quite a bit has gone down in the cellular realm since Barcelona opened its beautiful doors to host Mobile World Congress 2009, but how could we ever forget this gem? Samsung's M7600 Beat DJ is about as close as we'll ever come to a real live Pilotfish Ondo, and after months of waiting, it's finally on sale across the pond. Available for purchase right now at O2 UK, the Bang & Olufsen-infused handset packs a 2.6-inch OLED panel, perfect for mixing, scratching and texting your mum when you stay out too late. It's all yours for between £0.00 and £146.80 ($233) depending on your choice of contract, and if any of you kind, gentle Britons feel like importing a few for the deprived Yanks over here, drop us a note in comments.

...WANT
So many Samsung phones and can't remember the name of a single one.
@ultimatepwnage
... why?
Semms similar to the Wasp T12 - http://trashbat.co.ck/
i currently own a samsung E200 and i like it. simple, flat, plenty of batterylife and all the features one would need on a phone.
like calling. and texting. snapping a blurry - avatar-sized picture of a funny moment. using bluetooth to pump music from the 2gb microsd to a bluetooth enabled speaker system. =D samsung makes good mobiles. so i thougt this one might be quite nice at doing what its supposed to do. you know. making phonecalls. sending text messages. and making a remix of never gonna give you up and the latest daft punk creation.
...this probably was one of the most useless, boring and random comments in history. fail on me.
You said 'mum'. Darren Murph, you ARE English.
Let me know how many you want!
There's so many free apps for the DS, PSP, iPhone, and pretty much EVERY other handheld device, that I can't possibly see this being successful. The only people this would appeal to are wannabe bedroom DJs with too much money. Also, an OLED display is most certainly not "perfect for scratching" What are you kidding?. This is such a bad gimmick, and Samsung should feel bad for making it.
Every other handheld device? You mean Java apps? Ummmm...
No I do not mean java apps. Please speak in complete thoughts.
Actually, I got to play with one of these for quite some time. A few comments: a) It is very (very) well constructed, as seems to be the case with most recent Samsungs. b) The shape is not only original but more comfortable than a regular candybar. c) The touch screen is excellent, fast and responsive - even more so than the Tocco UltraTouch. d) The DJ thing is a gimmick being any serious DJ would use a pair of SL-1210MK IIs ;), but it does work, the sound quality is great and the phone has so many other features (very fast auto focus camera, RDS radio etc etc) that it's an extra to have for fun. I was almost tempted to get one, but I need Mac syncing with my contacts, and to date, no Sammy's sync with Macs. Anyway, go play with one in an O2 shop as I did, then judge.
Why oh why do people insist on playing their crappy synth-pop music on these in busses.
I tell ya, this thing is going to get thrown out the window
Replace the word "buses" with "trains" and I have the exact same gripe as you, my solution(I decided against murder.. since its illegal.. and all.. ) was to just get some decent noise cancellation headphones, so no more teeny boppers and their crappy music, that, and most noise cancellation headphones seem to be pretty good on the sound leakage front.. so it means that the person sitting next to you doesn't have to listen to your music.
What perplexes me is why the conductors just walk past them...
Start playing country. Just make sure you have a device that will go louder than theirs. And if that fails, try threatening them. Works over here.
Threatening them won't work when you're on your own and armed with a pen and a briefcase whilst these little c*nts are in a group of at least 10 (hence why they think they're hard) and probably carry knives robbed off mummy.
wow insane specs , feature rich.excellent music phone etc..,.
Now with that being said it should have zero problems killing the ultimate music phone (iPhone). Am I right ? So y won't it kill iPhone ,?
Mindboggling,.,.just like zune that gives u free music but yet people still choose iPod , now that is sick.
iPod? Whats that? Zune? Haven't seen it in a store ever.
Oh, wait, this IS a US of A blog...
Yah, it means Zunes aren't sold outside of US of A and iPods are not that popular in China ;)
Think global.
@Shinigami
Actually, we get zunes here in the UK
See Amazon UK ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/Microsoft-H3A-00001-Zune-120GB/dp/B001EQ0HAW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1243115396&sr=8-1 )
It won't outsell apple's iphone.. simple reason is that apple's marketing has created one of the most powerful smart phones, because everyone and their cat went and bought one, there's now so many apps for it, that anyone looking for a smartphone can usually justify buying it because 9/10 times they can get it to do what they need (Unless that happens to involve running in the background.. then they're screwed :)
Problem with Sammy's stuff, is Proprietary operating system, if they'd have maby gone with at least Symbian, if not WiMo or perhaps jumped on the Android bandwagon, then they would stand a chance, because to any half serious phone user, this probably won't have what they need from a phone.
I should point out, that I'm an iPhone user, but I waited untill the iPhone 3G came out, and by that time, it had millions of application options so i'd worked out it was a good option for me (I'm still a fan of WiMo, having had about 3 other WiMo devices..)
Nice phone, too bad about no US 3G.
looks like an elongated openmoko
ur mum looks like an elongated openmoko
*YAWN*
WINMORULEZZZ!!!
It's an exact design copy of the HELIO Ocean http://www.helio.com/#/mobile-devices/
this seems cool to me..i am a DJ so naturally i would be excited about this...however, what disturbs me is that this could lead many wannabes to pretend they are DJs, not too mention that awful game, DJ hero or whatever...nothing pisses me off more than a teenager abusing something i love deeply to make himself look cool in front of his friends.
aside from my small rant...i wonder how the technology really is..i hear it is somewhat subpar, being no virtual keyboard and whatnot...if your going to do something like this, than you might as well make the phone the best that it can possibly be...and i've read a few reviews that make me think otherwise.
