Nokia's N97 unboxed on video -- somehow, someway
We always heard that where there is a will, there is a way. Said mantra has never been more exemplified than in the video past the break, as someone halfway across this great planet has seemingly procured what could be the very first shipping N97. Still, we'd like to point out a few things here: first, Nokia has yet to officially ship these things, so there's at least a sliver of a chance that by mashing play, you'll actually be watching a KIRF unboxing, and in turn, supporting terrorism. Also, we can't understand a word the unboxer says, so again, he could be explaining just how elaborate of a fake it is, and we'd never know. Needless to say, you should definitely proceed at your own risk.
Update: Seems another fellow got one, and he's got pictures to prove it.

N97 The box is black with a matt finish rather nice. The top of the box displays the name of the phone in silver writing and a drawing of N97 in low relief. On the side you also have silver writings. The box image returns a "high end".
At the opening of the box, the phone is presented in a "floor" in black plastic and comes with a stylus type "USB key" (but smaller) very practical. Here are the contents of the box:
Hands-free classic Nokia
USB / Micro-USB (long)
A big enough charger AC-10E loaded micro-USB
Adapter charger micro USB / charger classic Nokia
Standard Nokia headsets
Cloth for the screen
CD Ovi (Ovi Suite Package)
User Manual
I did not have cable TV, we will verify that.
It's not the final firmware - I think this is a beta test model or something - maybe for development?
No, the man, baG, played with the N97 during one day in London 4 days ago.
damn, that didn't work.

The guy claims it's slow because it isn't the final firmware. It's looks pretty damn good to me.
I waiting for a couple of reviews, but I have little doubt I'm getting one of these. Love my E71 but this sucker is amazing.
Thar cyan background has to go though...
Yep. I just ordered it to replace my E71, which is going to be hard to part with.
Hi. I'm baG from blog-n97.fr, this N97 is the real deal ! It was lended by Nokia france during the Nokia Inside event in London. If you doubt it, just look at the one hour video review that I did.

We have all been watching it, thanks a lot for posting it.
How would you compare the speed of the pre-release N97 to the E-71?
I'm not sure it is possible to compare those two, because they have just way too different UIs. But, taking into account the fact that the N97 is touchscreen, it is pretty fast.
Say you love crepes
Reading from Paul Jacobson blog, these phones are the pre-release, test phones which they are given for a few weeks, would that not make it seem like the phone is due for a late June, early July release if these are the pre-release? They will want to hear the response from these before anything hits the market.
I am not sure how the usual pre-release thing works so I may be wrong and that they get to test and just update firmware when the models come out in store or what.

I have always been a nokia fan, but that time has come to an end. i had every nokia n series from the N80 on up. but when i have iphone came out i was a skeptical for two years but apple has made every right move and Nokia has made every wrong move. Nokia N97 Fail, Nokia OVI APP store FAIL. So am getting the new iphone this JULY.
R I P NOKIA
Nokia is becoming the next Motorola.
Really?
No-one cares.
ifone over 3G-copy-paste-5Mpx-camera-flash-in-browser-nokia?
Fail.
Thought it was odd that it took upto second page for one of these to show up, but then I realiced its sunday, they don't work sundays.
It makes me sick
release the damned phone already!
I really like nokia, but it just doesnt seem worth the cost. Bring it down to $400 and we might have a deal
the 16gb 3G iphone is 300, with a contract. the 32gig ipod touch is 400. so how much do you think a 32gig iphone will be, and that would be WITH a contract.
im not calling this n97 cheap. but unsubsidized with all these features. its priced about as right as it can be, especially for an initial launch

why wouldn't it be real.... :/
I actually got to test Nokia N97 a week ago at a friend of mine.
It was a prototype so the system had some bugs in it, but I really fell in love with the phone.
The slider (to qwerty keyboard ) is really smooth..
Here's a pic:

Im not going to post a video of me testing the phone, because my friend would probably get pissed of about that, since its a prototype etc.
I'm really excited about this phone. But come on and release it. I'm tired of just reading about it on the blogs.
A piece of crap...S60 5th is just a joke. they basicly just add a touch function on a S60 3rd editon and nothing else. The interface still look like what they has 5 years ago. I really wonder why people are still excited about this phone. They are decade behind other smartphone os like android, wm, webos....
I used to like nokia and I owned a n73 becasue their build quailty and radio reception, but beside phone function, nothing much a could do with their phone. (my n73 was killed by their offical firmware update because of their crappy usb cable disconnect itself)
My friend has a 5800 XM for 2 months and its screen was alrealy broken itself. Plus the buggy os really disappoint me. I would never think about buying a nokia smartphone phone again because their development stopped at the time they relased n95 8gb.
"Phone fans": Maybe your friend is just sloppy by getting a Nokia 5800's screen broken. My 5800 has been flying all over the place, my room and bars whatsoever, and not a single crack or bug has followed those crashes.. :)
And stop whining and go to the elite's iPhone forums for example, because it seems that you have either a self-esteem problem or you're just frustrated about something. Those are good places for trolls.
It looks pretty sluggish in the French video. I know he says it's probably still buggy because it's pre-release, but rumors suggest it's a 300 or so MHz processor. If so, it has only adequate horsepower, I really wish they put in a more powerful processor.
I speak French myself..this is no fake. =]
I pre-ordered mine already, can't wait.
I didn't notice a dedicated power connector hole...could it be that Nokia have finally allowed charging through the USB port?
@alaycobra
Yes. And, they decided to provide an adaptator, so you'll be able to use the normal nokia charger. ;)
I got my hands on it this weekend and got to play around with it. I love it and its everything its cracked up to be. Cant wait to get my own.
Organized Konfusion reference?!?!?
