FRICKIN SWEET!
The Walrus @ Jun 1st 2009 5:33PM
One touch over clocking? Sounds like a gimmick to me that will come at a premium of God knows how much
Herman @ Jun 1st 2009 5:35PM
Turbo button?
Johnny @ Jun 1st 2009 5:53PM
"Turbo Button?"
Exactly what I was thinking. Those worked so well. At least, the display on the case said it did.
bandigolo @ Jun 1st 2009 6:21PM
^ lol
Topmounter @ Jun 1st 2009 6:29PM
Haha... the TURBO button is the first thing I thought of when I read that... so much for being the "first" :-)
schmitt @ Jun 1st 2009 7:26PM
A $5000 premium to be precise, sir.
TareX @ Jun 1st 2009 5:36PM
With the Xbox 360 already having a keyboard and mouse and the PC NOT getting Project Natal motion sensing.... MAYBE I'll stop being a PC gamer...
Cosmo @ Jun 1st 2009 5:51PM
We PC gamers won't miss you. : )
TareX @ Jun 1st 2009 5:57PM
And you can go fuck yourself.
mediumsizedrob @ Jun 1st 2009 6:46PM
Zing!!! I bet he's gonna think twice before responding to you again!!! NICE
Cosmo @ Jun 1st 2009 6:55PM
Nice comeback, but go to the consoles, nobody cares what you do.
Cosmo @ Jun 1st 2009 6:56PM
You cannot control Xbox 360 games with a keyboard and mouse, you can use a keyboard for entry into the user interface and I think maybe only a couple of games support the keyboard, if any.
So you fail again, you can go and join the console peasants. : D
Boards of Canada @ Jun 1st 2009 7:27PM
I know its cliche but Crysis 1 was the best game experience I ever had. PC gaming is really great. Especially on my 30inch Dell monitor.
TareX @ Jun 1st 2009 8:30PM
No need to mention Crysis. PC gaming is light years ahead and probably always will be.
But this new control adds a totally new dimension to gaming. It's insane. And I would ignore the differences in graphical capabilities. But I'm not sure I can give away my keyboard controls. Are you sure the Xbox keyboard can't be used for gaming?? On amazon it says that the keyboard and mouse were DESIGNED FOR FPS gaming.
Cosmo @ Jun 1st 2009 10:13PM
TareX, show me exactly where it states you can use a keyboard and mouse on the 360 for gaming. It is not supported officially, I believe there is an unofficial converter though.
I am disappointed to hear Crysis 2 will be on the peasant consoles, hope they won't limit the PC version such as having smaller and less detailed levels.

if you read the article you know what the premium is.
Kinger @ Jun 1st 2009 5:40PM
There's a screen in that computer tower? Maybe you can just use the tower and not bother with a monitor... Hell, who could afford a monitor after spending 8k on a computer anyways..
awlllwa @ Jun 1st 2009 5:40PM
wow, 700 for a slim, slot load bd drive, and 100 for dvd.
That is about 200% of what they actually cost. I don't really know the price of anything else off the top of my head but i bet the costs are 200% of the actual parts across the board.
brandon williams @ Jun 1st 2009 7:15PM
I guess it's kinda like paying $300 for floor mats from the factory in your new car when Wal-mart has them for $20
Game_playa @ Jun 1st 2009 11:06PM
On teh egg
DVD : $20
Blu-ray = $100
va jj @ Jun 1st 2009 5:56PM
more importantly, will it make me breakfast?
digitallysick @ Jun 1st 2009 5:58PM
*hold on guys let me press the turbo button on my pc* ohhhhhh , ahhhhhh
gfar @ Jun 1st 2009 6:06PM
SWEET!!!
I haven't seen a turbo button since my 486!!!
16? How about 33 instead!!
mediumsizedrob @ Jun 1st 2009 6:16PM
Saying they plan to use the chip in the upcoming PC isn't really "outing" it. I'm sure many PCs are on the way that plan to include the new chip, we all know it's coming.
Oscar5453 @ Jun 1st 2009 6:13PM
WHAT A BUNCH OF C*CK SUCKERS!!
I can build a high end i7 920 OC'd to 4GB with a GTX 295 high end system for $1,500. BUNCH of rip-off basterds!
va jj @ Jun 1st 2009 6:17PM
how does one oc the 920 to 4gb?
mac404 @ Jun 1st 2009 6:19PM
Good luck overclocking your processor to 4GB.
Brian! @ Jun 1st 2009 7:03PM
That's nothing. I OCed my to 8GB. Take that doubters.
Brian @ Jun 1st 2009 8:29PM
I recently overclocked my 920 to $4500
That's right, i actually can turn gigahertz into money.
andy @ Jun 1st 2009 6:15PM
Garbage and you say apple is over priced?
patriotsn1 @ Jun 1st 2009 7:40PM
Apple IS overpriced. Just because this also happens to be overpriced doesn't mean Apple isn't... What is your point again?
Brian @ Jun 1st 2009 8:29PM
@patr
is point is that this is more overpriced than apple.
patriotsn1 @ Jun 1st 2009 9:13PM
So you admit Apple is overpriced?
andy @ Jun 1st 2009 6:16PM
This is GARBAGE, Pure shit!
Boards of Canada @ Jun 1st 2009 7:29PM
I would not say that.... just a big price for stuff you dont really need.
turtlesoup @ Jun 1st 2009 6:29PM
$8000 for a PC? Please update your calendar, this is June 1st not April 1st.
Nic @ Jun 1st 2009 6:34PM
Agreed. For that much it better have a Quadro FX 5800 or something. Not that the 5800 for gaming, but c'mon overclocking is not that hard, jeez.
bjsguess @ Jun 1st 2009 6:31PM
Must be a misprint on the price or BFG has decided to try and dupe buyers into thinking that the box is made by Apple.
No sane PC buyer would drop that kind of coin on that box.
bill @ Jun 1st 2009 7:06PM
You guys should check-out the website - it is way worse.
They want $700 to overclock the GPU's! and all option are about 2x retail.
It does include home installation though!
If they sell any of these, I am starting a custom PC business cause people are suckers.
Oscar5453 @ Jun 1st 2009 7:18PM
I've seen people getting ripped off before but this is a new low they have reached.
Complete Rip-Off I feel sorry for the suckers who buy these.
But it comes with free installation. You got to be a moron these days if you don't know how to plug in a mouse and keyboard then press the power button on.
bill @ Jun 1st 2009 7:11PM
And FWIW- Why don't they post some benchmarks? What does the $8k system get me?
Brian @ Jun 1st 2009 8:31PM
This is like an announcement, they're saying they'll sell these when they release the new i7s
Bonqueesha @ Jun 1st 2009 7:43PM
$8000? Eat your heart out, Apple.
ph0bi0s @ Jun 2nd 2009 12:32AM
And Courtney!
Tim @ Jun 3rd 2009 9:43AM
ugh.. 8,000 and it still runs Windows.
John @ Jun 3rd 2009 12:54PM
We certainly appreciate that many enthusiasts like to build and maintain their own high-end gaming systems. Phobos, on the other hand, is designed to appeal to customers who want all of the performance of a high end system, but may not have the time, expertise, or desire to set up and maintain such an advanced personal computer on their own. If you like to build your own system, Phobos may not be for you.
A home built system doesn’t come with a warranty and free technical support. And when you buy components yourself, you are taking a risk that every part with work perfectly with the overall ecosystem. BFG handpicks and tests every component that goes into each Phobos build, so not only are you getting an optimized, expertly built system, you are also getting a fully tested gaming/home theater system with a great warranty and personalized service.
Additionally, Phobos offers many unique features that are not available in a home-built system, such as its unique One-Touch Overclocking of the CPU/GPUs, custom touch screen LCD, integrated iPod syncing dock, custom aluminum case, and highly tuned and optimized performance settings.
Phobos might seem pricey to people who are used to building their own systems. However, if you compare Phobos to other similarly-configured, pre-built high performance systems, you’ll see that Phobos is priced very competitively.
And for the $3k base system, when you consider the concierge service, the One-Touch Overclocking, the liquid cooled CPU, the warranty, the personalized tech support, and all the other value-added features, we believe the value proposition for the consumer gets even better.
wulfthesaxon @ Jun 21st 2009 7:41AM
Sorry, but components come with warranties, too – for those who can keep track of more than one phone number. I prefer original warranties over expensive, watered-down, second-hand ones. ;)
Kailie @ Jul 2nd 2009 11:41AM
This article is entirely wrong. All the features they list as 'first' have been available for a year, and BFG has a massive failure rating. That is the antithesis of quality.
