Toshiba NB205 hands-on, looking rather sweet
Laptop's just put up its hands-on of Toshiba's latest 10.1-inch netbook, the NB205. They're giving it pretty high marks as far as design goes, calling the keyboard and trackpad "stellar," and the battery "promising." It boasts an LED-backlit LCD which they're pretty fond of, and we have to say we're really liking the metal look ourselves. The NB205 will come in two configurations, with the higher-end boasting an Intel Atom N280 CPU, 1GB of RAM and an 160GB hard drive with Windows XP Home. The lower end model can be had for $349 (it's got a plastic, non-island style keyboard), while the metal, higher end model will will run $399 (the former will come in pink, white, blue and brown, while the latter will be available in black only). There is one more shot after the break; hit the read link for video of it in action.

I am assuming this means no Ion, as it wasn't mentioned?
Nice... i want one!
I would rather have a higher-end model in white & brown.... why must it only be in black :'(
Oh well..
black is professional till i understand, always loved black.... white and brown hmmm interesting
I usually don't mind black, but the brown & white really caught my eye and I fell in love with it. heheh.
Black is the low end, it has no chiclet style keyboard.
Well that's good to hear. I guess the author messed up a bit in the article.
"while the metal, higher end model will come only in black and will run $399."
Not bad of a price. The low end one has the same specs and price as a EEE 1000HE on sale.
I hate the TOSHIBA logo... it makes it ugly
Never seen the Eee logo, have you :D
Letters are ugly?
Eee logo is 10x worse than the toshiba, they just make theirs big and obvious.
Stick a Misfits sticker on that.
But will it run Leopard?
In Africa Leopards run YOU.
Why do people keep asking this question? Most people know that Apple won't let any other manufacturers licence their OS.
So for the answer: Unless you see an Apple logo on the system somewhere, NO, it won't run Leopard, Tiger, or any other OS named after a wild feline.
Yes it will. If almost all netbooks can do it, then probably so can this.
@EB : FUCKING GOOGLE IT BITCH
I don't need to, since I know PC's can run the hacked versions of Mac OS.
Read my comment carefully and you'll notice that Apple doesn't let other manufacturers "licence" the OS, implying that no laptops aside from Macbook family will be able to run Leopard, legally. BITCH!
Where's the video? ooh I see I have to first push left click button down on the "read" linky to see the actual video?
Laura is still taking a break...
Opps. I had missed this line: Hit the read link for video of it in action.
Toshiba could have made this oh so much better if M$ didn't mess with spec limits.
I don't see anything wrong with the spec. This is a netbook after all.
What?? This is standard for a netbook. If it were better, it would be more expensive.
And this run XP... that OS only limits are in your brain.
The metallic keyboard (in the video) looks like metallic powder coating on plastic which would eventually be worn off. And that would make the keyboard real ugly.
Wait.... no multi-touch? I don't see anything mentioning that. Noooooooooooo :'(
Chop off some of that bezel and maybe make the screen bigger (720p?) and add ION and this would be probably the netbook to rule them all.
I love brown! This looks amazing.
The keyboard is cheap (no chicklet) and the shift key is misplaced.
Another POS passing itself off as a 'netbook'. What a piece of crap.
Yawn.
Another case of keyboard failure ruining a sweet machine. It is ridiculous that when other netbook manufacturers are finally getting it and moving away from the idiotic idea of shrinking the right shift key to accommodate keys that could easily be placed somewhere else, Toshiba goes ahead and screws up like this. Why couldn't they have left the Shift key alone, and instead fill those pointless empty spots to the sides of the Up arrow key to place the PgUp/PgDn there?
