It's the case that never ends -- the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has issued a temporary delay of of the
injunction and fine handed down yesterday in the EchoStar / TiVo lawsuit while it considers an appeal, meaning that DISH owners with older DVRs won't have to worry about losing their pause-and-rewind functionality at least for now. That pretty much means we're back in stasis with this one, with even more delay to come if the appeal is granted. That's cool, we needed a nap anyway.

Does this mean that my TiVo stock that doubled today will be halved tomorrow?
Celanor @ Jun 3rd 2009 8:10PM
...It just goes on, and on, and on, and on my friends...

I'm so sick of this law suit. Enough with the damn appeals already!
Sulley @ Jun 3rd 2009 8:37PM
I thought the price of TiVo stock was based entirely on how people felt about the name of the company, TiVo. It has nothing to do with what the company is doing or not doing (or whether they're going to get $100 million).
I'm a TiVo user and supporter, but if they don't fix all of the issues they have going on (such as improving the interface for HD, although the TiVo Search is an ATTEMPT, amongst other business decisions), their stock will get booted from whatever exchange they're on. A company I've heard of had that happen this week...GM.

Dish customers do yourself a favor and get DirecTV.
svwspider @ Jun 3rd 2009 11:38PM
Drop Dish? Why? Did DirecTV come out with dual tuner boxes which can feed separate displays, and have RF remotes for the non-HD feed (2nd tuner) which can control the second feed (modulated to the second display) anywhere in your home (just run the cabling)?
When DirecTV decides (and they've moved away from this over the years) to build multi tuner, dual feed boxes (HD & SD), with RF remotes, then I'll reconsider. Having a second tuner only for recording is second rate.
P.S. my 622 and 722 (DVR) receivers work great.

I left DirecTV for Dish. Dish is alot better, and cheaper.

I have a DISH DVR, and will be pissed if they remove basic DVR functionality. What features specifically are they wanting to remove?
jayrock77 @ Jun 3rd 2009 9:10PM
Dont believe the hype, this is in reference to OLD DVR's like the 510. Any 612, 622, 722, 722k is FINE.
Brian @ Jun 3rd 2009 11:35PM
As I said in last nights update, nothing is really being told to the customers about this.
They really aren't planning on removing the functions just yet, and are fighting as much as possible to not do so.
It's not going to be as easy as just waking up one morning with no DVR functions, according to my superiors (I work for Dish). It would take quite a few software updates to make the functionality go away.

Great. Those who paid extra for the pvr should, as part of the law suit, get a free tivo. After all the penalty is to compensate Tivo for lost business, which it now gets.
MetallicAfan @ Jun 4th 2009 6:17PM
People still have Dish?
