HTC Hero / Lancaster running Android and "Rosie" UI launching on June 24th?
While the Economic Daily News doesn't cite any sources, its claim that HTC will launch its Android-powered Hero handset on June 24th makes a lot of sense to us. Something's up on that day since we've already seen the press invite to a June 24th event in London, the same place that witnessed the launch of the HTC Touch Diamond last year. The EDN reports two variations of the Hero: one without the QWERTY and another, the HTC Memphis (better known as the HTC Lancaster around AT&T) with full keyboard in tow. What confuses us though is the EDN claim that the Memphis/Lancaster will be an AT&T exclusive for 6 months when it ships in Q3... so why the London launch then?

yea the whole London doesnt make sense. they should have done it in Memphis, Tennessee. :)
Yawn...another leak from this endless AT&T doc that Engadget has...
Maybe it meant US exclusivity?!....
btw why the low resolution screen? Well that's not good at all! Might even cause problems with existing android apps (maybe)
It will, as most android apps are designed for higher resolutions. I'm still hoping that it's a typo, and that I'll be able to replace the AT&T crippled Android with a more functional version.
Android scales perfectly find to a QVGA screen. In the first release of Android it used to have issues on a QVGA screen, but those were later fixed.
All apps I have tried in Android look fine in QVGA.
That would be cool...if true. Their new, "Rosie" UI looks awesome! Hopefully, they will consider offering an update for the current HTC Android smartphones (G1/Dream & G2/Magic).
yes, I am hoping that I can sell my wife on this phone while i get the new iPhone. This was way we will have an Apple and Android. Although that may change come Monday.
LOL, @ HTC ever offering a a UI upgrade of their latest software on any previous products. It just doesn't happen... it never will. You best hope will be XDA-Developers...
Hmmmmm thinking about getting this for the wife....
Why the crappy resolution?....
Why the crappy resolution?....
Why the crappy resolution?....
Why the crappy resolution?....
Why the crappy resolution?....
Why the crappy resolution?....
oh the huge manatee! why the crappy resolution???
They are going to ruin it with that screen.
no, really. Why the crappy resolution?....
As we don't have AT&T over here in London, I'm betting the exclusivity is for US only. Now which UK carrier will take it? I forsee T-Mob or Vodafone, but would much prefer it on O2, lets wait and see!
As for the screen, it looks pretty similar in design to the Magic, so surely it'd use the same panel and reso?
If it is what it says it is in the bunk, that QWERTY will be horribly small (and seeing as Cupcake is out there, pretty much useless).
What's the deal with a 320x240 screen on a new Android handset? I don't get it at all.
Is that a matte black finish?
But really tho, what's with the resolution. I think I'll be choosing between this and the i7500 (samsung's android)
They should have called it, "the Lackluster".
Must....get.....rosie...
Why the crappy resolution?....
Why the crappy res. and does it have a touch screen?
Why is the font in the second column different than the first? Looks made up...
READ MY LIPS PLEASE
NEVER BUY AN HTC, I SAY NEVER!!!!
I BOUGHT ONE HTC TOUCH, AND IT HAS BEEN ACTING UP, AND TOTALLY CRASHED AFTER 3 MONTHS. I SENT IT TO THE SERVICE AND THEY SAID I BROKE IT. I AM JUST A REGULAR PHONE USER, HOW COULD I BREAKE IT?
NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER BUY AN HTC, TAKE MY ADVICE, NEVER!!!!!
HTC phones are not really for regular users (although they may want you to think they are). Regular users should stick with Nokia or Sony.
